Ch.195New Event Preview (1)

While I did learn some unexpected life lessons from losing money in stocks…
The reason I was investing in stocks(?) in the first place was to get a new starship.
Now that I’ve decided to invest(?) for my own small but certain happiness, I felt the need to find another way to acquire a new ship.
The only small problem was the question: “So where do we get one?”
“Seriously, where are we going to get a new starship?”
“I wonder about that too, Commander.”
For reference, I’d half given up on getting a new ship through gacha.
Oh, I’m not saying I won’t do gacha anymore, it’s just that I don’t even have enough resources to do a 10-pull right now.

<Base Level 7 Upgrade in Progress…>
<Time Remaining Until Construction Complete: 15 days 3 hours 43 minutes 13 seconds>

Meanwhile, the base was still in the middle of being upgraded.
I’ve been actively searching around to see if there are any wrecked high-grade ships nearby, but I wasn’t the only one with that idea.
“Commander, we just had contact with another commander’s fleet.”
“Huh?”
“Of course, since we only brought five patrol ships, they immediately tried to make us leave, claiming they had legitimate control over that area, but…”
“I see, so what happened?”
“When we called in the Kraken, they ended up giving us the area instead.”
“Ah, I see.”
‘It’s like an adult stepping into a children’s fight.’
Looking for shipwrecks or artifacts from ancient fallen empires often led to friction with other users.
The reality of collecting scrap wasn’t very satisfying, so the situation was far from ideal for me.
As for switching to a raiding economy(?), judging from the large-scale invasion of the Central Zone that happened recently…
Most of the users still surviving in this hellhole were either solo players or small clans, so it felt wrong to target them.
And the weaker players… either had a ship pool similar to mine…
Or they had a similar ship pool but their “Superhuman” roster was a mess, so there wasn’t even a flea’s liver worth extracting.
So I kept racking my brain, with my IQ of 150 and Jessica’s IQ of 150.
With our perfect combined IQ of 300, we tried our absolute beeeeeest to solve this problem.
But no matter how much we thought about it, we realized there was nothing we could do right now.
==========
Fortunately, not long after, this problem could be naturally resolved.
The solution was none other than…

<Global Announcement>
<<<New Event Notice>>>
<This is a notice about a new event for all Commanders!>
<In one week, the ‘Remnants of the Ancient Empire’ event will begin!>
<When the event starts, ‘Ancient Base Ruins’ will open at random locations near Commanders’ bases.>
<If more than half of all Commanders clear these ruins, the ‘Capital of the Ancient Empire’ will open in the Central Zone, accessible to all factions!>
<The following rewards are planned for this event!>
<Upon clearing ‘Ancient Base Ruins’>
˪<You can receive one random ship and one random Superhuman.>
˪<Based on your clear score in the ruins, you will receive bonus points when entering the ‘Capital of the Ancient Empire’.>
<Unlike the ‘Ancient Base Ruins’, the ‘Capital of the Ancient Empire’ is a public dungeon.>
˪<Rankings for future events will be determined by your score in this dungeon.>
<More details about the event and various update patches will be announced later.>
—————————————-
“Hooo… finally!”
“A new event, Commander?”
“That’s right!”
Look at those sweet rewards.
Instead of getting screwed over by some random player, you can get a free ship and Superhuman just by clearing your own instanced dungeon—though it is “random”!
Of course, there aren’t many details yet, and they might impose “rank” restrictions like they did with the returning player rewards, which would be quite annoying…
But for someone like me who desperately needs even one ship, this was more than welcome.
And the appearance of such an event wasn’t just welcomed by me and other unlucky players like me…
I had been busy for a while, but that was due to the “conflict” caused by mischievous users, not an actual game event.
As a result, except for the Central Zone that experienced the large-scale invasion(?) and the pirate alliance-Earth Federation border area that was still too dangerous for Marian to visit, other areas had been quite peaceful.

I opened the gallery out of curiosity, and sure enough.
Users who had been tired(?) of the lack of updates were setting the gallery on fire with all kinds of cheers.
Of course, whenever this happens, trolls inevitably start crawling out of the woodwork.
