Ch.195195. Where to Spend Achievement Points
by fnovelpia
I needed to use my achievement points before leaving.
“I’ve accumulated 33 points.”
Achievement points are displayed so small in the status window that I’d forgotten about them when I only had a few. But after completing two main quests, they had piled up to this amount.
I almost forgot about them again this time.
That would have been a waste.
Considering the map effects I could enhance or the mods I could add with achievement points, saving them would be more detrimental than anything else.
“Hmm. What should I do?”
The safe choice would be to increase the experience gain level, the eternal truth.
Especially since this experience gain effect applies to the entire map, all the farm workers in the Rift Dimension would benefit from it. With our growing number of farm members, this would be highly efficient.
Kim Soo-jung. Lee Ji-hyun. Kim Sol-yi.
Even though Kim Sol-yi doesn’t have any special abilities yet, I was planning to give her a construction-related ability this time.
The sooner I upgrade it, the better.
“I’ll start with this and think about the rest later.”
With 33 points available, I decided it would be best to invest in experience gain first.
Currently, the experience gain level was 2.
It had cost 1 achievement point to upgrade to level 2.
Upgrading to level 3 required 2 achievement points.
It seemed like each level increase required 1 additional achievement point.
[Lv3 Experience Gain Required Resource: 2 Achievement Points]
[Lv4 Experience Gain Required Resource: 3 Achievement Points]
[Lv5 Experience Gain Required Resource: 4 Achievement Points]
I boldly invested 9 points to raise the experience gain level to 5.
I could upgrade it further, but I wanted to check out other mods first and could always add more later.
[Lv5] Experience Gain +300% / Ability-Related Experience Gain +100%
After upgrading to level 5, a special effect was added.
[You have raised a map effect to level 5 for the first time.]
[2 Achievement Points acquired!]
Then a notification appeared explaining what this meant.
[Map effects gain special bonuses every 5 levels.]
[These additional effects enhance the characteristics of the corresponding map effect.]
In other words, it was telling me:
Don’t bother raising effects one level at a time calculating efficiency; if you’re going to upgrade, do it boldly in 5-level increments to get bonus effects.
This map effect system wasn’t in the Farming World, so I hadn’t known about it, but it was a pretty good system.
Growth goals.
That’s the most important part of any game.
This system seemed particularly targeted at players like me, making me calculate whether it’s better to spread points around or commit 10 points to get a level 5 effect with special bonuses.
The additional option from Experience Gain level 5, [Ability-Related Experience Gain +100%], was an excellent bonus.
There might be some leakage, but for people like Ji-hyun and Soo-jung who mainly level up through life skills, they would effectively get the full 300% additional experience plus another 100%.
Despite the complicated wording, it simply meant additional experience for activities related to abilities you possess.
In other words, if you have farming abilities, you get +100% experience when farming.
Conversely, if you have farming and cooking abilities but go out hunting monsters, you wouldn’t get that +100% experience.
However, in such cases, having even an F-rank combat-related ability would qualify.
Kim Soo-jung already has a C- rank magic ability, and she’ll soon get an SS-rank ability according to plan.
Anyway, for a free additional benefit, it’s extremely efficient.
“I can’t resist getting level 5 for this one too.”
Now that I knew about it, as a self-proclaimed extreme efficiency enthusiast, there was one thing I couldn’t resist:
[Lv2] Chaos Energy Effect/Range/Ratio Increase +10%
I had already invested 1 achievement point in this effect.
Could I really pass up the chance to get a level 5 effect by investing just 9 more points?
I was about to upgrade it immediately, but looking at my remaining achievement points made me hesitate.
“26 points… awkward.”
Even with the 2 points I just received, I’d still be 3 points short.
That’s because the [Lv1] Chaos Energy Grade +1 that I had bookmarked before costs 20 achievement points.
This was something I really needed to get.
Considering the lottery-level rewards I got from the Dense Chaos Energy, higher grades of Chaos Energy were clearly better.
I didn’t know exactly what grade Dense Chaos Energy was, but I needed to get this upgrade if possible.
“Hmm…”
After deliberation, I finally made my choice.
[20 Achievement Points used]
[Chaos Energy grade in the Secret Farming Map increases by 1.]
[The base probability of Dense Chaos Energy appearing increases by 10%.]
[The probability of Dense Chaos Energy appearing increases when the base Chaos Energy grade is higher than the biome level.]
[The base probability of Dense Chaos Energy appearing is 5%.]
While increasing the range or effect of Chaos Energy would be good, it’s common sense that higher grade Chaos Energy drops better items and produces monsters infused with stronger Chaos Energy.
I’d have to postpone getting the level 5 effect for next time.
“Am I happy about increasing the difficulty?”
This might be a decision I’ll regret later.
After all, raising the Chaos Energy grade essentially means increasing the map’s difficulty.
Right now, I’m overpowered so the difficulty feels a bit easy, which is why I’m spending achievement points to increase the reward potential by raising the difficulty.
But since this is a mod that directly modifies map effects, if the difficulty suddenly spikes later and synergizes with the increased Chaos Energy grade and range effects, I might end up screaming in regret.
But I’ll save the regrets for later.
Now I had to decide where to invest the remaining 6 points.
Just because I know it takes 10 points to reach level 5 doesn’t mean I have to save up for it.
Since each level provides the same increase, investing early also provides benefits.
“Chaos Energy jumps straight to level 5.”
Since Chaos Energy Grade +1 couldn’t be increased by 0.2 increments, the next level after level 1 was level 5, requiring 10 points.
I was considering finishing the Chaos Energy effect/range/ratio upgrade when “All Crop Growth Speed” caught my eye.
“Hmm. Maybe I’ll go with this.”
While enhancing Chaos Energy to increase difficulty was important, investing in the growing agricultural side could also yield good efficiency.
Especially since the World Tree was growing, and the Cloud Wood Farm I just acquired would also benefit from increased crop growth speed, allowing for faster harvests.
When thinking about mass production, the map-wide farming effect might be even more important than Kim Soo-jung’s individual farming rank.
So I invested the remaining 6 points in [Lv1] All Crop Growth Speed +50%.
Well, it took 5 points to raise it to level 3, and I used the last point on [Lv1] 3% Chance to Increase Crop Grade +1 During Harvest.
[Lv3] All Crop Growth Speed +90%
[Lv2] 5% Chance to Increase Crop Grade +1 During Harvest
“Good. I like it.”
After frugally investing all 33 achievement points, plus the additional 2 points I earned, I felt relieved.
Now I’ve really taken care of all the major tasks.
“We’re logging out in 2 days, so write your name on the board if you’re leaving!”
I wrote in the middle of the blackboard: [Summer Day 28 Logout] and listed the people leaving below.
– Kim Soo-hyun
Others who want to leave can add their names to the list that currently has only one entry.
There’s still plenty to do, like mining copper, but I’ll deal with those smaller tasks after I return.
“Gather in the living room after dinner to distribute abilities.”
Everyone was in their rooms doing their own things, but as soon as I called out, Kim Soo-jung came running down with a clatter.
“Finally! Finally!!!”
“…I said after dinner.”
“Oppa, you’re really giving it to me this time, right?”
“Yes, of course.”
“Tonight I’ll make lots of my dear brother’s favorite dishes.”
Kim Soo-jung, who had been lying down watching TV, immediately put on an apron and started rummaging through the refrigerator.
“Am I going to be a hunter now too?”
Kim Sol-yi, who came down amid the commotion, asked with sparkling eyes.
“Construction ability is still an ability. So I guess so?”
“We’re all doomed. Hehehe.”
Kim Sol-yi seemed more excited about being able to build more things than becoming a hunter.
