Ch.193″The spaceship sometimes serves as excellent material for the stock market.” (2)
by fnovelpia
While the base upgrade was proceeding “according to plan.”
That didn’t mean I could just loaf around doing nothing.
‘New military power is absolutely necessary…!’
As I’ve already mentioned, I now truly needed a “premium ship” or a “special ship.”
Or even a support character, for that matter.
I needed to spend some time seriously contemplating how I could obtain one of those two… no, three things.
“So Jessica, come and brainstorm with me.”
“Commander, honestly, you’re just bored right now, aren’t you?”
There was a minor issue of Jessica challenging my serious contemplation.
But since sages are often unappreciated by others, I decided to forgive Jessica’s rudeness and enter into a joint brainstorming session.
But this time, perhaps my intelligence had improved somewhat.
My IQ 100, Jessica’s IQ 200.
With our perfect combined IQ of 300, as we pondered, I felt a new idea immediately surfacing in my mind.
“Oh wait, we have an auction house, don’t we?”
“Yep.”
“Great, then let’s try searching through the auction house this time.”
“Yep.”
———-
Anyway, boldly opening the auction house window like that was all well and good…
But once we opened it and saw the “prices,” our confidence instantly deflated.

<Auction List>-<Ships>-<Cruisers>
-<Jupiter-class Electronic Warfare Cruiser, Starting price: 6,700 Gold>
-<Texas-class Medium Cruiser, Starting price: 7,100 Gold>
-<Overseer-class Bombardment Medium Cruiser, Starting price: 6,500 Gold>
—————————————-
The cruiser-class ships we could use immediately had starting prices = minimum prices that were three times the gold we possessed.
—————————————-
<Auction List>-<Ships>-<Battlecruisers, Light Aircraft Carriers>
-<Mutsu-class Battlecruiser, Starting price: 10,250 Gold>
-<Corania-class Aviation-Battlecruiser, Starting price: 15,110 Gold>
-<Invincible-class Battlecruiser, Starting price: 10,050 Gold>
-<Kuraba-class Protected-Battlecruiser, Starting price: 13,200 Gold>
-<India-class Escort Light Aircraft Carrier, Starting price: 16,000 Gold>
-<Zuiho-class Light Aircraft Carrier, Starting price: 15,610 Gold>
-<Skyhook-class Aviation Cruiser, Starting price: 10,000 Gold>
—————————————-
Battlecruisers, light carriers, and for some reason aviation cruisers listed alongside them were all gold-guzzling pigs starting at a minimum of 10,000 gold each.
I stopped checking at this point.
Despite there still being “Battleship” and “Aircraft Carrier” tabs remaining in the auction window, I immediately closed it and spoke up.
“Alright, if we keep looking at this, we might go insane.”
“Ahaha…”
Of course, that didn’t mean our needs had disappeared.
After reopening the auction house and checking the market prices:

<Auction List>-<Ships>-<Destroyers>
-<Willie-class Medium Destroyer, Starting price: 1,850 Gold>
-<Kazemaru-class High Mobility Destroyer, Starting price: 1,700 Gold>
-<Anaphylaxis-class Anti-Air Destroyer, Starting price: 1,900 Gold>
-<Shimakaze-class Torpedo Destroyer, Starting price: 1,730 Gold>
—————————————-
“Jessica, let’s start from here for now.”
“That’s right, we should tackle things step by step, starting small.”
I resolved to gradually increase my 2,100 gold by watching the market, with the eventual goal of buying battlecruisers, battleships, or aircraft carriers.
The problem was, separate from burning with such determination, when I actually started looking into how to do this.
I had been thinking of it as a kind of stock market-style gambling, but in reality, rather than gambling… how should I put it?
To be frank, it just felt like watching a stock market.

Title: Why the f*** isn’t price defense working

I thought I bought at a decent price, but the very next day it dropped 100 gold, and the day after that it was dropping 10 gold per hour
I think I’m going insane
I tried to defend the price by buying more but the price dropped even further f***

-[So you’re basically buying up everything others are selling cheap?]
-[What’s this?]
-[I don’t know much about this, but isn’t buying low and selling high when prices rise profitable?]

‘What kind of nonsense is this in a game?’
I couldn’t understand what they were talking about, but it was clearly “stock market” style talk.
And there was more…

This reminded me of a certain online community I’d seen before being forcibly kidnapped and possessed.
With posts that anyone would recognize as stock market talk, I wasn’t sure how to process this.
‘What should I do? Can I really survive in this ship stock market(?) full of human madness?’
For one-on-one secondhand deals, my experience would boost my IQ from 50 to 100, but stocks were a different story.
So I pondered deeply about what to do.
Seeking advice, I visited the solo ranker chat room after a long time and casually brought it up…

With such unfavorable responses, I wondered if diving in was really the right choice.
But I couldn’t just keep staring at the gacha that only resulted in explosions.
After careful consideration, while absentmindedly playing with Sumeragi’s ears as she returned from completing daily quests and sought praise:
“Nggghhhh.”
“Hmm… I’ve decided.”
I made my decision just as Sumeragi made strange noises, her tail fur standing on end and trembling.
“What are you planning to do, Commander?”
“Strike while the iron is hot. When a man declares his intention, how can he back down?”
“Wow…”
And right after saying that.
I reopened the auction window, browsed through the destroyer list.
Then I decided to officially enter the “ship stock market” by boldly spending all 2,100 gold on an <Anaphylaxis-class Anti-Air Destroyer> auction that was about to end.
