Ch.193193. Adding the Purification Option
by fnovelpia
Purification enhancement required purification stones.
“From what I’ve learned, purification enhancement can be done in 5 stages. Stage 1 needs common purification stones. Stage 2 needs rare purification stones. Stage 3 needs heroic purification stones. Stage 4 needs legendary purification stones. And stage 5 needs mythical purification stones. When you succeed at each stage, stage 1 adds a purified energy option, stages 2 and 3 upgrade the rank of the purified energy option, stage 4 adds another purified energy option, and stage 5 enhances all three purified energy options plus 1-3 options with mythical rank upgrades.”
“That’s hardcore.”
In the end, to get mythical grade purification stones, you need to use purified resources from high-level biomes.
And even this enhancement system had success probabilities just like regular enhancements.
[Demonic Light Sword +0 Purification > Demonic Light Sword +1 Purification Enhancement Required Materials]
– Purification Stone (Common): 0 / 30 (Success Rate: 70%)
Well… I understand it’s an SS+ sword, but after having so many purification stones taken away by quests, I only have 14 left. Asking for 30 seems a bit excessive for enhancing something useful.
Not that complaining would change anything.
If I don’t like it, I either don’t enhance it or go find more purification stones. Those are my only options.
Just to check, I tried putting in the Corrupted Ring, but it needed 70 purification stones, so I immediately took it out.
“Corrupted Ring. How much more corrupt can you get?”
Even for a growth-type item with future potential, that’s too much.
It’s only SS- grade right now, yet it needs almost twice as many purification stones as the Demonic Light Sword.
I decided the Corrupted Ring was an item I couldn’t even consider for enhancement or purification enhancement right now.
Then again, even without enhancement, it gets loaded with good options every time I complete Main Quest 2, so maybe enhancement isn’t even that meaningful.
Still, I couldn’t help feeling disappointed.
The Holy Ring also needed at least 20 more stones than the Demonic Light Sword.
The only SS-grade item I could enhance in my current situation was the Mantle of Soaring that I had just obtained.
Though it was also SS-grade, it only required 10 purification stones, which was quite reasonable.
“I’ll go with this one.”
The purified Ice Spirit Alcohol wasn’t worth enhancing anyway.
It seemed better to test purification enhancement on a high-grade item I was actually using rather than enhancing other items.
The purification enhancement process wasn’t much different from regular enhancement.
The item was placed on the anvil.
Kukum placed the purification stone and brought down the hammer.
Clang-!
The sound was distinctly clearer than usual.
[Mantle of Soaring +1 Purification Enhancement Success!]
“Phew.”
Although this was somewhat experimental, I had no plans to do any more purification enhancements for a while since I had no way to get more purification stones.
That’s why this first—and for the time being, last—purification enhancement absolutely needed to succeed with its 70% chance.
While that was a high probability, a 30% chance of failure was still significant enough that failure wouldn’t have been surprising.
“That’s a relief.”
I might be able to gather enough purification stones for one or two more enhancements if I harvested corrupted resources from the Steam Forest, but I didn’t want to exploit it like I had the Swamp or Corrupted Forest. The Steam Forest was a tropical rainforest environment, especially one full of moisture-rich steam, and destroying the environment that helped the Cloud Trees grow would be stupid.
Anyway, the enhancement succeeded, and the Mantle of Soaring had gained an additional option.
[Mantle of Soaring]
– Grade: SS
– Purification +1 Stage
– A mantle made from Sky Dragon scales. It feels like you could freely fly with it.
– An item imbued with purification energy. It seems to have a special effect.
– Defense +86
– All elemental damage -25%
– Consumes 100 mana per minute to infuse the scales and fly through the sky. Reduces the wearer’s gravity, weight, and all resistance to use the Sky Dragon’s flight speed.
– Defense +20 while flying
“Oh, I see. So that’s how it works.”
Was this option worth using 10 purification stones?
If asked, I’d probably say “hmm…”
Is it worth grinding purified resources to extract purification stones for an option like this?
But while this might be the option now, things could be different later.
“For stage 1, this isn’t bad.”
Stage 1 of purification enhancement is just a stepping stone.
It adds one purification option, and stages 2 and 3 increase the grade of that option.
While I might not be thrilled with the defense boost during flight, it’s undeniably a decent effect considering the item’s performance.
With a base defense of 86, adding 20 more means almost a 20% defense increase while flying.
And considering that to reach stage 5 purification enhancement, you need to progress from stage 1 step by step, the purification enhancement content might seem a bit inefficient now but will become worthwhile later.
Above all, grinding purified resources for purification stones isn’t just for purification enhancement—it’s essential for raising my purification energy level.
“Alright, Kukum. I’m heading out.”
It’s greedy to expect every content to immediately benefit me.
Having many open contents like this gives me hope that the resources I farm will be useful somewhere, and having unlocked this content early will allow me to achieve bigger spec upgrades later without extra effort.
And just having a system that converts corrupted resources tainted with chaos energy into purified resources, and then having a use for those purified resources, made it a valuable system in itself.
—————-
Murim Alliance Leader Li Weixing visited Korea with his granddaughter, Li Suin.
It was quite a spectacle as hunters from the Murim Alliance disembarked from their private jet.
Hunters from the Hunter Association were also dispatched as a precaution, and Li Weixing politely apologized to Team Leader Kim Jin-hyeop.
“Ho ho, I’m sorry for causing such a commotion unintentionally.”
“It’s fine. Korea is always like this these days.”
“That fellow is truly remarkable.”
“He’s a treasure. Korea’s treasure.”
Kim Jin-hyeop, responding as if accustomed to such situations, escorted Li Weixing to his destination.
An SS-rank hunter wasn’t providing escort out of concern for what might happen to Li Weixing.
Rather, it was a minimum security measure in case the Murim Alliance hunters or Chinese government-affiliated hunters, visiting Korea for the first time, caused any trouble.
The Murim Alliance Leader’s destination was Gwangjin Distribution.
Soon they would move to the nearby Farming Company General Store, but for now, VIP and VVIP member management was still handled at Gwangjin Distribution.
Kim Gwangjin calmly welcomed the important visitor.
“We haven’t had many visitors from China. I didn’t expect someone from the Murim Alliance. Haha.”
“I heard you’re Suhyeon’s father. Pleased to meet you. Ho ho.”
“Yes, hello.”
The conversation between the two men, through an interpreter, flowed quite naturally.
In the past, Kim Gwangjin wouldn’t have been able to converse so comfortably with such an important figure.
A single decision from someone of this stature could have shaken his company.
But not anymore.
Gwangjin Distribution was now backed by the solid Farming Company.
They were destined for success no matter what, and since he was managing his son’s finances, showing fear or nervousness would mean failing in his role.
Corporate owners, CEOs, chairmen, SS-rank hunters, government ministers—
With business cards bearing such titles crossing his desk recently, he was experiencing firsthand how remarkable his son had become. How could his shoulders not rise with pride?
And they weren’t just visiting for no reason.
“My granddaughter owes a great debt to Suhyeon. She whined so much about wanting to become a VVIP member of Farming Company. Ho ho ho. I had no choice but to come directly after finishing our dungeon schedule.”
“Welcome. This isn’t just because he’s my son, but becoming a VVIP member of Farming Company is a decision you’ll never regret. I don’t believe we met during the last omakase event…”
“No, I only heard about it then.”
“Next time, you must try my daughter’s omakase. It’s quite a delicacy.”
A staggering 100 billion won.
And not just that—100 billion won in Li Suin’s name and another 100 billion in Li Weixing’s name, each accumulating 90 billion in mileage points to secure VVIP memberships.
“Grandfather.”
“Ah, yes. By the way, is Suhyeon not here? My granddaughter came all this way to see him and would like to meet him before leaving.”
“Grandfather!!”
“Yes, yes. Ho ho ho. Let’s say it’s me who wants to see him.”
“I’m sorry, but Suhyeon hasn’t come out of the dungeon yet. He should be out soon, but I can’t tell you exactly when.”
Li Weixing looked at Li Suin with a troubled expression.
As a hunter himself, he knew that no amount of nagging would make a hunter exit a dungeon before they were ready.
Li Suin, with a face full of discontent, thought for a moment before smiling brightly.
“Then I want to sightsee in Korea! There are many places I want to visit.”
“…”
Li Weixing.
Leader of China’s Murim Alliance.
Despite his kind, smiling appearance, rumors said he not only slaughtered monsters in dungeons but personally executed hunters who tried to defect from China—a hunter with an iron fist.
Yet even such a hunter found himself dragged around by his granddaughter on a Korean vacation.
