Ch.18The Holy Knight Who Came to Destroy the Order (6)
by fnovelpia
“Aaah! I’m sleepy!”
A moment later, Mirella stretched out as she closed her novel.
Then she looked up at the sky and exclaimed in surprise.
“Look at the Milky Way!”
Looking up, indeed, the Milky Way was crossing in a strange formation among countless stars that seemed about to pour down.
The original Milky Way is a curved line shape, but for some reason, the Milky Way seen here splits into two branches.
Perhaps because we’re in a game, even the Milky Way looks quite peculiar.
I guess the galaxy in this world is completely different from the one in real life.
“There are more stars than in our village. My goodness.”
“There’s the ‘Traveler of Slow Eyes’ over there.”
When I pointed with my finger, Mirella tilted her head and looked at me.
“What’s that?”
“A constellation.”
“Never heard of it.”
“Here, let me show you. Come sit beside me.”
When Mirella sat next to me, I took her wrist and pointed at the sky.
“These stars are called Renas’s Eye, Breta’s Foot, Woka’s Song, and Telumia’s Dream. When connected, they form the ‘Traveler of Slow Eyes.’ It’s a constellation created by a goddess who favored Woka, a minstrel who traveled the world spreading what he saw through beautiful songs.”
“Huh? Woka? Could it be the same Woka from ‘Lyrics Beyond Time’?”
“Yes, that’s right.”
“Wooow.”
Mirella’s eyes sparkled like stars.
“That one is the ‘Queen of Mist’ constellation. It’s where the tears of Queen Lilith, who had the power to control mist, became embedded in the sky as she mourned the death of her lover Fenrix.”
“Wow…”
I traced another constellation in a different direction.
“This is the ‘Heir of the Lost Land’ constellation. It commemorates Anasti, a descendant of the long-lost Edos Kingdom, who became a great warrior after finding Levia’s Sword and Torteris’s Shield while searching for traces of his ancestors.”
“Amazing, that’s so cool. How do you know all this, oppa?”
“When you read a lot of books, you naturally learn these things.”
“That’s impressive…”
Mirella looked up at me with sparkling eyes.
The Milky Way seemed to reflect in her red pupils.
Liberone was silently gazing up at the night sky.
Perhaps she was looking for the constellations I had pointed out.
But with her expressionless face, it was impossible to tell.
“Alright, let’s go to sleep now. We need to wake up early tomorrow.”
The guards were drawing lots to decide who would take watch duty.
“That won’t be necessary.”
Liberone said as she stood up.
“I’ll set up a Holy Barrier. It will protect us from outside attacks.”
Ah, right. I forgot about that.
It was definitely a good decision to recruit Liberone.
The Holy Barrier that Liberone deployed emitted a soft golden light, encircling our campsite in a semicircle.
“Then, good night everyone.”
“Good night~” “Good night, sir.”
After getting into my sleeping bag, I spent some time admiring the night sky before falling asleep.
The night sky of this world with its sprawling Milky Way never ceases to amaze me no matter how many times I look at it.
Soon after, I could hear Mirella and Liberone’s low, steady breathing.
In Liberone’s case, she was snoring slightly.
But it wasn’t unpleasant; rather, it served as nice ASMR.
Listening to my companions’ breathing while watching the stars, I too fell asleep.

The next day.
“Guardian Angel, I can see Odelin City over there.”
“Wooooow!!”
Mirella exclaimed in amazement as Odelin City came into view.
“My goodness, my goodness. I can’t believe there’s such a big city!”
Three-story buildings made of brick, cobblestone roads, shops lined up on both sides of the straight streets, bustling pedestrians and carriages.
The scenery of Odelin City must be an eye-opening sight for a girl from a rural village like her.
In fact, compared to other major cities, Odelin City is quite small, but to Mirella, who has never seen any village other than Starting Village, Odelin City must seem like a mega-city.
“Wow, look at that…”
Mirella muttered in a dazed voice, pointing at jewelry shops and women’s clothing stores.
“Let’s go to the city hall first. We’ll deliver the documents from the administrator, then we can buy what we need. Keep going down this road and then turn left.”
Thanks to my knowledge from the original work, a mini-map of Odelin City and the locations of major facilities automatically appeared in my mind.
After navigating through the main streets, I could see a rather classical-looking building ahead.
That’s the Odelin City Hall, which administratively governs our village.
Of course, our village is so remote and distant that it has rarely experienced proper administrative authority.
“Hello. We’re from Starting Village.”
When we reached the first-floor service counter, a rather tired-looking civil servant stared at me.
“The administrator of Starting Village said there were documents to be delivered to the city hall.”
“Let me see them.”
After I handed over the box containing the stack of documents, the civil servant rummaged through them and nodded.
“Alright.”
“Please write a confirmation receipt, just in case.”
“A confirmation receipt?”
“We need proof that the documents were properly exchanged. That way, if something goes wrong, we can clearly determine who’s responsible.”
With a somewhat annoyed expression, the civil servant took out two sheets of paper and wrote down the titles of the received documents.
He signed his name at the bottom and told me to write my name in the space below.
After signing, we each took one copy, and then left the city hall.
“Coming here suddenly makes me want to buy so many things.”
Mirella’s eyes sparkled as she looked at the lined-up shops.
There are stores here selling accessories that girls Mirella’s age would go crazy for.
These shops have nothing to do with basic necessities, so they’re impossible to find in Starting Village.
“Do you have money?”
“You can pay for me, oppa. I’ll pay you back later. If not, just this once…”
“Young lady. It is not right to devalue yourself in such a way.”
Liberone immediately stepped in to correct Mirella’s outrageous suggestion.
As expected of a reliable Holy Knight.
“Come on, let’s hurry. We don’t have much time. Let’s have lunch first.”
We decided to eat lunch at a delicious restaurant in the city.
We need to save money, but since we’ve come all this way, we should at least eat out once.
“Ouch!”
Suddenly, Mirella cried out as she bumped into a street tree.
I knew this would happen since she’d been distracted the whole time.
Seeing this, I finally took Mirella by the wrist and went to an accessory shop.
“Pick one.”
“Whaaaaat?!”
“Why are you so surprised? Pick one. I’ll buy it for you.”
“Really?!”
Mirella, who had been jumping up and down, suddenly became dejected.
“But we don’t have money. These things are just expensive and useless, so I’ll just look with my eyes.”
“It’s okay. Get one. I have enough money to buy you something.”
The pre-possession Jack was quite a miser.
So there’s a decent amount of gold coins saved in a safe hidden deep inside the potion shop.
He had been saving for emergencies, so I can afford to buy Mirella an accessory.
“So don’t refuse… Where did she go?”
“She’s already inside.”
Liberone pointed to the inside of the accessory shop.
Mirella had already gone deep inside and was making a fuss, carefully examining each display, trying bracelets on her arm and necklaces around her neck.
Just like a girl her age.
Cute, pretty, and lovable.
Even if she does carry a vicious-looking club on her back.
“How about a bracelet?”
“It would interfere with combat.”
At Liberone’s intervention, Mirella removed the bracelet and chose something else.
“A necklace?”
“You could be strangled.”
“What’s strangling?”
“It’s when you die from being choked.”
“Eek?!”
Mirella quickly removed the necklace.
The accessory shop owner’s face became puzzled at Liberone’s grim advice.
“Mirella. How about a ring?”
When I showed her a small, dainty ring, Mirella shook her head.
“No rings. I’m saving that spot for later. I need to leave room for a wedding ring or engagement ring.”
After an hour of careful selection, Mirella finally chose a hairpin and a hair tie.
Both were brilliantly shiny and matched very well with Mirella’s fiery red hair.
“Ahh, thank you so much. I’ll treasure these forever. I’ll even take them with me to my grave.”
I laughed out loud at her words, and even Liberone gave a faint smile.
The guards stopped by “Peta’s Forge” to buy a sword each.
Peta’s Forge is a place I know well.
In the game, it’s the first place players visit when they arrive in Odelin City.
It’s an essential stop for players because they can get cost-effective equipment early in the game.
I wish our village had a blacksmith too…
* * * * *
We found the most famous restaurant by asking around.
“Odelin’s Banquet Hall,” a rather straightforward name, was even larger than our village hall.
A waiter standing at the door guided us in, and Mirella whispered to me.
“It feels like we’ve become nobles.”
Looking at the menu, we ordered several dishes.
A series of dishes that I hadn’t eaten since my possession, and in Mirella’s case, that she had never seen in her life, were served.
“Wow!”
“Enjoy your meal.”
Mirella cut into her steak, put it in her mouth, smiled happily, and then suddenly started crying.
“Sniff… It’s so delicious. I can’t believe such food exists in this world…”
“There are countless foods in this world.”
Liberone spoke up.
“Become a warrior, young lady. Travel the continent to grow stronger and taste all kinds of delicacies.”
“Don’t give the kid false hopes.”
“But the young lady has potential as a warrior. Guardian Angel, didn’t you see her raise her aura?”
“That’s true, but the choice is Mirella’s.”
“I see. I understand. But please consider it seriously.”
“If Mirella wants it.”
I smiled as I watched Mirella sobbing while stuffing her cheeks with food.
Anyway, it’s nice to come out on an excursion like this.
A city that properly benefits from civilization.
Here, there’s no risk of starving to death, being suddenly robbed, or dying a horrible death at the hands of monsters.
Even a weak NPC like me with only 100 HP can live without any worries.
I’m determined to make our Starting Village like this, no, even bigger.
And then I’ll live a long life while raking in money with a monopoly potion shop in a big city.
Since there’s no way to return to my original life anyway, I might as well live well in this world.
Just then, something strange caught my eye.
Beyond the restaurant’s large window.
Across the street in an alley, something green was peeking out its head and looking at me.
Could it be a goblin?
“Hey, Liberone. Over there, is that… Huh?”
In the moment I turned to Liberone, it had completely disappeared.
What was that? Did I see wrong?
That’s the third time already?
