Chapter Index

The activation conditions for the Revenant Organ are as follows:

One must suffer a fatal attack that brings them to the brink of death.

The fatal attack mentioned here does not include self-harm. It only activates when attacked by enemies or creatures other than oneself.

That’s not all. When wounds heal, the Revenant Organ automatically enters dormancy.

As the name suggests, it can only be used in a state equivalent to being dead.

If one manages to satisfy these demanding conditions and successfully activate the Revenant Organ, they can enjoy truly extraordinary effects.

When the Revenant Organ activates, the cooldown of all possessed traits is reset. Additionally, during its duration, all traits can be used without limitations.

Among the traits AMorph can acquire, those with restrictions or cooldowns are typically unique-grade traits or fusion traits.

In my case, unique-grade traits like ‘Symbol of the Hunt,’ ‘Horizon of Nightmares,’ and ‘Organic Evolution’ all have cooldowns.

This powerful trait became non-mainstream for two reasons.

First, to properly utilize the Revenant Organ, one must possess multiple unique-grade traits for it to be meaningful.

However, unique-grade traits are lost when a character dies. If one deliberately tries to use this trait and makes a mistake, they could lose their unique-grade traits entirely.

The second reason is that enemies are also aware of the Revenant Organ’s existence.

If enemies regulate their attacks to prevent this trait from being used, it becomes a liability.

Demanding conditions, the risk of failure, and emphasis on passive play—

Despite its extraordinary effects, the trait itself has serious flaws, so most players don’t use it as their main trait. They only use it as insurance or pretend to have it to bluff enemies.

Of course, in a world full of all kinds of people, there were those who attempted to properly utilize this flawed trait.

If one can perfectly control their health and perfectly anticipate enemy strategies and attacks—

Those who satisfy these conditions can become true “Revenants,” masters of the Revenant Organ.

And I was one of those who satisfied these conditions.

Blood flows from my neck. It’s an injury caused when Jason, wrapped in a golden form, pierced through me.

If this were a game, my health points would be nearly depleted by now.

This isn’t a game, but I could feel it. The blood flowing through my body was rapidly cooling.

My heartbeat was dropping quickly, and my brain wasn’t functioning properly due to the endorphins released from extreme pain.

Since coming to this world, I’ve never been this close to death.

    ‘Everything is going as expected.’

I had already anticipated that Jason would launch a combined attack once he drew out the Lightning God. That was rational, apart from his pretending to be crazy and rushing at me.

Of course, I didn’t know he would use the light stream transformation technique offensively. I had expected a different psychic power technique.

Still, I could sufficiently guess where he would aim.

‘This is reality, so he’ll take the safest approach.’

When an AMorph’s brain is destroyed, it becomes impossible to use regular traits except for passive ones. So from his perspective, even if he can’t kill me in one strike, creating a situation where he can safely kill me is advantageous.

    ‘Or he might consider escape.’

The blood that was cold begins to warm up.

A small spark ignites in my dying heart.

The pain from the hole in my neck remained, but my body was significantly changing from a few seconds ago.

With each beat of the AMorph’s heart, a special fluid is released from the organ attached to it. Like fire spreading along oil, the fluid seeps into every part of my body through my blood vessels.

While changes were occurring in my body, the situation outside was rapidly evolving.

Jason, realizing I wasn’t dead, and my companions trying to stop him had begun to fight.

    ‘Damn! He’s still not dead?’

Jason trembled as he looked at the Morph bastard collapsed on the ground. With his gigantification canceled and thick carapace completely shattered, he appeared lifeless at first glance.

But if he were truly dead, Jason should have acquired his perks. If not, there was only one answer.

    He wasn’t dead.

    ‘…Should I run?’

Morph bastards are beings that ambush at unexpected moments. It’s highly likely he’s up to something even now.

    ‘But what if he’s not?’

In a game, maybe, but in reality, would a Morph bastard really induce a situation where his life is in danger?

If he’s genuinely in crisis and Jason just runs away, nothing could be more foolish.

Jason deliberated. The desire to immediately behead him with ‘Purification’ and ‘Judgment’ coexisted with the thought that he should escape.

‘No. There’s no need for unnecessary risks.’

He had obtained plenty of information while fighting him. If he brought other companions, they could definitely catch him.

With that decision, he tried to activate his ‘Third Perk.’

    ‘Huh?’

His body, being consumed by blue particles, suddenly stopped. Some unknown force was blocking him.

“Where do you think you’re going after hurting Big One!”

An intense emotional wave pierced his head. Turning around, he saw a Sea Demon under AMorph’s control.

The demon’s body, similar to AMorph with a purple color close to black, was covered with hideous eyes.

When hundreds of eyes stared at him, a great darkness engulfed him.

    ‘Deep Sea Terror!’

Jason quickly used a psychic power technique to defend against mental attacks. For a brief moment, the world was plunged into darkness, but it was soon dispelled.

If it had been a normal Sea Demon, he couldn’t have dispelled it so easily, but this Sea Demon seemed weak.

    ‘It has a disability… ugh?!’

When light returned to the world, a green light flew at him. Unable to properly detect it due to the Deep Sea Terror, he was directly hit by the green creature’s charge.

    “Big One” “Injury” “Forgiveness” “Impossible!”

    “Damn it!”

Jason cursed as he saw the Green Gallergorn flying up after hitting him.

‘They’re all similar types gathered together.’

A half-wit Sea Demon, a disabled Green Gallergorn. Fitting companions for a Morph bastard with a terrible personality—a bunch of cripples.

    ‘I’ll tear those wings off.’

As Jason extended his hand, the golden form transformed the arm part into a whip and swung it toward the flying Green Gallergorn.

Just as his attack was about to hit, a navy energy mass from somewhere struck the whip. The part hit by the energy bullet disappeared as if it had never existed.

    “What?”

On top of AMorph’s shattered carapace, a hideous monster was seen with its tail raised toward the sky.

‘Why is that here… and more importantly, why is it obeying the Morph bastard?’

Though its appearance was quite different, judging by the mix of machine and organism, it was undoubtedly the Mutant Screamer that Cloe was developing.

‘Could its memory have been restored? No, they said that was absolutely impossible…’

Jason knows what the Mutant Screamer is made of. The original of that monstrosity with mixed genes is related to him as well.

However, his contemplation couldn’t continue. A beast with golden fur rushed at him.

A griffon with a white head and golden fur slashed across his stomach as it passed.

    “What the?!”

Jason was startled by the sudden pain in his abdomen. The armor made from Black Gallergorn scales had been cut.

The creature that left a stab wound on Jason’s stomach was holding a golden spear in its beak.

    ‘Golden Spear of Shaman!’

He knew Muriel had gone to rescue the Volf slave and incidentally tried to obtain that weapon. Seeing the griffon with that weapon, he could easily guess who his opponent was.

“Remember me? You had Muriel kill my family.”

    “Pathetic Volf bastard…”

The Black Gallergorn armor quickly healed his wound, but the fact that he had suffered an unexpected attack remained.

Annoyed, he spread his left hand toward the griffon. Gravity Control activated, creating massive gravity over a wide area.

    “Kuk!”

The ice on the ground cracked, and the griffon’s movements slowed dramatically. When he added ‘Binding’ on top of that, it couldn’t move at all. As the golden form was about to slice it in that state, another interference came.

“Bad person! Don’t bully Middle One!”

    “Tsk.”

Transparent threads bound his body. Jason used ‘Morta,’ which nullifies enemy psychic techniques, to release the Sea Demon’s binding.

    “Stop being annoying, you cripple!”

As he irritably shook his hand, the golden form slashed the Sea Demon’s body with a sword. With several tentacles cut off in one strike, its body turned pale.

    “Small One!”

    “You get lost too.”

The Green Gallergorn flew in after seeing this, but Jason deflected it with Reflection. The griffon’s wings were terribly bent after hitting an invisible wall.

As he was about to finish off the creature groaning on the ground after falling, the Mutant Screamer, which had approached unnoticed, opened its mouth and bit his arm.

    “It’s useless… ugh?!”

He thought he would be protected by his armor, but he was mistaken. As his strength was instantly drained, Jason almost pathetically collapsed.

    ‘This Fuckingreaver!’

Realizing the opponent had absorbed Blood Reaver, Jason immediately swung Purification held in his right hand. The blade made of black flames cut off the Mutant Screamer’s leg.

    “Kirik, mobility impaired.”

“Damn it, I’ll kill you regardless of impairment!”

Truly enraged, Jason swung Purification violently. With each flash of the black blade, the Mutant Screamer’s legs were miserably severed.

It instantly lost most of its legs and collapsed. Jason frantically slashed its body in an irritable manner.

“Ptui. What a piece of trash.”

He spat on the fallen Screamer and retrieved Purification.

Having dealt with the Morph bastard’s subordinates in a short time, he approached the immobilized griffon. The griffon was glaring at him with the spear still in its beak.

“That spear is too good for the likes of you.”

As he spread his hand to activate psychic power, the spear trembled. The griffon tried to keep its beak closed to avoid dropping it, but it was futile.

    “Ugh!”

The smooth golden beak twisted and eventually broke. He picked up the spear that had fallen to the ground along with the broken beak fragments.

‘That’s done. Oh, since it’s a player, it should have perks, right?’

While considering whether to take the griffon as well, he suddenly heard laughter. The griffon with its broken beak was laughing at him.

    “Are you insane?”

    “Keu, keuk, keukeukeu, you fool.”

“It’s troublesome if you go crazy already. I have many things I want to do.”

“Keukeukeu, I wonder if you can?”

“That’s my line. I wonder if you can maintain that attitude while being tortured… kheok!”

Before finishing his sentence, Jason vomited blood. Along with the blood, an unprecedented pain engulfed him.

Looking down, he saw a huge bone protruding through his chest.

    “What is this…?”

His head slowly turned. There stood the owner of the bone blade.

    “You, you bastard…!”

The being that had stabbed him with a bone blade arm protruding from its back.

It was AMorph, transformed into a new form.
