    Ch.184183. Reunion (4)

    # 183. Reunion (4)

Luna and Aelin were startled by the sudden alarm.

However, unlike those two, the other four of us, including myself, immediately took appropriate measures.

Riel headed to a position where she could fulfill her role as a sniper, while the remaining three of us followed behind the soldiers rushing to the battlefield.

    “Talk about perfect timing.”

    “I know… why now of all times…”

“It might actually be fortunate. We don’t seem to have many troops left anyway.”

There weren’t many soldiers available, probably due to the numerous battles that had occurred recently.

If a major battle were to break out in this situation, it could become extremely dangerous.

She looked at me as I drew my sword and said:

“I feel bad about entrusting this to a civilian…”

“Just think of me as a mercenary, Commander.”

“But… can you fight in that body?”

It’s certainly not my original body.

However, I should be able to adapt sufficiently.

Humans are creatures of adaptation, after all.

“No problem. Actually, this lighter body feels better.”

Upon reaching the wall, I stood with her and gazed at the large army rapidly approaching from the distance.

It was a considerably sized elite force, and I could even spot some troublesome monsters among them.

“This time… the scale is really large… Do they always have troops to spare over there?”

    “I’ll need your support.”

    “Don’t push yourself too hard.”

She stood proudly beside me as she said those words.

It seemed she intended to engage in close combat despite being a mage.

Of course, I wasn’t particularly worried about her, so I didn’t say anything.

However, unlike me, some soldiers who seemed concerned about her spoke up:

“Commander, I think it would be best not to overexert yourself. The last battle just ended recently.”

“Don’t underestimate me. Thanks to someone, I’m quite confident in close combat now.”

“We’re not underestimating you, we’re concerned. Dangerous tasks like this should be left to us mercenaries and regular soldiers…”

Who the hell is this madman giving her instructions?

I turned my head toward the direction of his voice.

    “Huh…?”

And there was that familiar and unpleasant face.

Seeing that face soured my mood that had improved after reuniting with her.

‘Why the fuck is this bastard here? Was I supposed to meet him around this time originally?’

    Greg Ignite.

The third prince of the Orion Kingdom, Rachel’s brother, and in my previous life, her marriage partner—that bastard.

I spoke to him, whom I wouldn’t mind killing a hundred times over, in a deadly serious voice:

“Don’t tell our Imperial Princess what to do, you mere mercenary.”

    “What…?”

Greg stared at me with a dumbfounded expression after I said that.

I scolded him for continuously giving me obvious stares.

“Why do you keep staring? Can’t you see what’s happening over there?”

    “Ah… I’m sorry…”

“Just hurry up and prepare. You need to act quickly, don’t you?”

For some reason, Greg’s face kept turning red at my scolding.

Ignoring Greg, I turned to her as she tilted her head in confusion and said:

“Let’s get started quickly. It might get dangerous if we wait any longer.”

    “Ah… yes.”

After that, she swiftly positioned the soldiers in their proper places.

She was clearly skilled at this, probably due to her experience as a party leader.

“Buffers and healers, please maintain the back line while supporting the front. And mercenaries, please circle around to the west and target the enemy’s rear.”

The soldiers moved quickly according to her instructions.

    ‘They’re more obedient than I expected…’

Though she spoke extremely politely, her words carried a charisma that commanded everyone’s attention.

She was truly her father’s daughter.

Reminiscent of the current Emperor, she finally gave me my instructions:

“Normally, Albert would target the enemy’s rear line, but our front line is a bit weak right now. So, Albert…”

“I should join you at the front line, right, Commander?”

    “Yes!”

While we were talking, the enemy forces had already approached to within striking distance.

    I immediately activated [Mortal’s End].

    -Woong!!-

    “What… what is this…?”

“What kind of skill is that…? Did we have someone with such a skill in our legion?”

    “Who is that person…?”

Everyone, both allies and enemies, except those who already knew about the skill, was bewildered by the pressure it created.

And perhaps because it had been a while, even she was somewhat surprised.

    “Was it… always this powerful…?”

    “Can’t you feel it anyway?”

    “I couldn’t before… but I can feel it now…”

I smiled at her, surprised by my steep growth.

Then, looking at the poor mortals who would soon become lonely corpses, I spoke:

“But even if the front line had been solid, I would have been doing this anyway.”

The demons and monsters glared at me as I said that. They seemed to be of a high caliber, as they weren’t completely intimidated.

In fact, the one leading the army and standing at the very front appeared to have skills worthy of an Executor.

“This might be more fun than I thought.”

With those words, I raised my sword and immediately charged at the demon at the front.

Of course, living up to his aura, he blocked my sword relatively easily.

    -Clang!!-

Everyone, both allies and enemies, was shocked as I recklessly attacked head-on.

Even he who received my attack and she who was urgently preparing magic behind me were surprised.

“Are you insane? This isn’t a one-on-one fight, human.”

    “…”

Ignoring his words, I continued swinging my sword.

The startled enemy troops hurriedly tried to stop me from attacking their leader.

However, they were blocked by her relentless magic and our allies who joined the battle behind me.

Seeing this, he became flustered. I spoke to him, who seemed quite panicked:

    “It is one-on-one, though.”

“Tch… Even in a one-on-one, I would win. Do you think I, who am about to become an Executor, would lose to a pathetic human like you?”

He talks big despite being flustered.

I gave some advice to this nobody whose name I didn’t even know.

    “Your tongue is too long.”

What Executor? I don’t even know this guy’s name.

That means he died before I properly entered the battlefield.

Just like what’s about to happen today.

“That’s why you’re not in my memories.”

“Huh? What is this bitch saying…”

    -Swish!! Clang!!!-

He blocked it with good reflexes, but that was all he could do, and his hands were shaking wildly.

Just like I did when blocking Marco’s sword.

With his trembling hands and body leaning backward, he spoke again:

    “What… are you…? That skill…”

He seemed to recognize [Transcendence], suggesting he had seen the Emperor before.

“Yet you’re still alive? With such meager skills?”

I was curious how someone with such pitiful skills could survive after seeing the Emperor’s [Transcendence].

    However, he appeared strangely composed.

“I nearly died back then… but this is still formidable…”

I didn’t want to hear his useless talk, so I withdrew my sword once before continuing my fierce attack.

    -Swish! Stab! Slash!!-

    I swung, stabbed, and slashed.

And throughout this process, he could only occasionally block, unable to launch any counterattack.

His body was now covered in blood. I looked at him as he collapsed to the ground and said:

“Not much difference, really. Just a bit less strength and more speed…”

Despite the change in body type, it didn’t feel awkward, and although my strength had decreased somewhat, [Transcendence] compensated for it.

As I was feeling reassured by these expected results, contrary to my expectations, the battered opponent struggled to his feet.

With a completely different aura than before.

    “You’re quite persistent…”

    “…”

“What’s this? It doesn’t suit you to be quiet.”

    “…”

He was not only silent but seemed not to hear my words at all.

Then suddenly, his magical power spread widely around him.

Sensing a completely different magical power and killing intent than before, I thought seriously again.

    ‘Is it a skill?’

As I suspected, there were several changes in him.

Besides his aura and magical power, his appearance had also noticeably changed.

The horns, symbolic of demons, grew about 1.5 times larger, and his muscles swelled.

“So that’s why you were so composed…”

It seemed to be a unique skill that activates when his life force drops below a certain level.

He appeared to have become incomparably stronger than before.

    “…!!!”

Without a word, he suddenly charged at me and swung his sword.

And for the first time, his sword reached me.

    -Kwang!!-

A massive sound reminiscent of an explosion.

    His power was that formidable.

And his speed had also doubled from before.

    ‘Now that’s an overpowered skill.’

However, he seemed to have lost consciousness, as if his body was moving on its own.

    Like a monster.

And if that was the case, there was a very good solution.

    -Gooo…!-

A deep abyss that gave even me, its master, goosebumps.

The abyss, now much deeper than when we first met, moved toward him, covered in magic and blood.

According to the data so far, the abyss should handle him perfectly.

    However…

    ‘This doesn’t feel good…’
