Ch.180[Chapter 180] Anomaly

    # The Governor’s Office in the Wasteland.

“If I show this to that guy, he’ll be pissed off, right?”

The Governor snickered while fiddling with the signed cards of Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica.

Considering his bad blood with his rival, the ‘Commander,’ just showing these cards would create a satisfying situation.

    But not yet.

The Governor carefully tucked Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica’s cards back into his breast pocket and continued walking.

The Governor’s destination was the repair room.

The last battle had been so fierce that the Governor had unexpectedly gone all out.

As a result, many androids were severely damaged, and a lot of repair materials were needed.

He was on his way to fill the repair room’s supplies after rummaging through the Governor’s Office warehouse and opening some repair material selection boxes he had received earlier.

    “…Huh?”

    That’s when it happened.

Plop. Something fell on the Governor’s crown.

Something that bounced once off the Governor’s head before falling to the ground.

It wasn’t particularly painful given its size, but the Governor felt an unpleasantly sticky sensation.

The Governor bent down to check what it was.

    “Huh?”

The Governor picked up what had fallen to the ground.

    “That’s strange. It’s not time yet…?”

It was a soft, squishy jelly.

Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica’s house.

Despite what should have been fatigue from yesterday’s battle, Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica were devoted to training early in the morning.

    More accurately, they were sparring.

    “This is rather annoying.”

“Indeed. But conversely, that means it’s good.”

Sir Dominic advanced with a thick shield in front, wearing a massive steam-powered armor suit.

Thanks to the significant boost in all his abilities, his movement speed was quite fast, but it was still slower than Sir Dominica, who had switched to lighter armor.

As soon as Sir Dominic thought he was close enough, he swung his sword.

The thick gloves of the power suit made his distance perception slightly off, but the swung sword cut through the air with terrifying wind pressure.

Sir Dominica lightly stepped back half a step to avoid the sword’s trajectory.

Then she drew her gun, now a 6-shot revolver, and fired at Sir Dominic.

The damage wasn’t particularly great, but all six shots had the [Shock and Awe] effect embedded in them, creating an even more annoying situation.

    But that was it.

Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica knew well that this battle would never end.

Sir Dominic’s attacks couldn’t reach Sir Dominica.

Sir Dominica’s attacks couldn’t penetrate Sir Dominic’s armor.

Without either of them needing to say it, they both stopped sparring and lowered their shields.

    Sir Dominic sheathed his sword.

Sir Dominica put her pistol in its holster and adjusted her scabbard.

    “This seems quite… passive.”

“The strengths and weaknesses for solo action are clear, but this would definitely vary in performance depending on the party.”

Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica nodded at each other.

    That’s when it happened.

    “Master! And Master!”

Alice came to visit without fail today as well.

But Alice’s appearance was a little different from usual.

If the usual Alice was full of enthusiasm, the current Alice had an expression like… a child waiting for a present.

Alice, who had rushed over, placed her hands on her knees and breathed heavily.

She had clearly run here in a hurry.

    “What’s the matter?”

“Why are you in such a rush?”

Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica asked Alice.

Alice took a deep breath and then announced surprising news to Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica.

“There’s going to be a jelly downpour today!”

    Alice smiled brightly and cheered.

However, unlike Alice, Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica’s expressions were subtle.

    It was only natural.

Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica had no idea what a jelly downpour was.

    “Ah.”

Alice stared blankly at Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica.

She had forgotten that her masters were people from outside.

“Well, a jelly downpour is, literally, weather where jelly falls like rain! Usually it’s just jelly rain or a jelly shower, but this time it’s a jelly downpour!”

    “So-“

“What do you use the jelly for?”

Before Sir Dominic could express his question about Alice’s words, Sir Dominica asked first.

It was exactly what Sir Dominic had wanted to ask.

“You eat it. And you exchange it!”

    “Eat it?”

    “Exchange it?”

Sir Dominic was interested in eating the jelly, while Sir Dominica was interested in exchanging it.

“Jelly that falls from the sky is famous for its subtle sweetness that you never get tired of. I heard collectors gather jellies that fall each time to create collections!”

“You can sell them to collectors for money, but actually, the exchange is a bit different. This is trading with fairies!”

“Fairies love jelly. So if you collect these jellies and bring them, they’ll trade them for nice things.”

Last time I collected 100 and exchanged them for a teddy bear mug, Alice said.

Rummaging through her bag for something, Alice pulled out and showed them a mug with a subtly cute bear drawn on it.

“I’m curious where you learn about such things.”

    Sir Dominic asked Alice.

“Um… what I know is written in the notices or patch notes on the card, and sometimes breaking news is given here.”

Alice took out her card and pointed to the bottom left.

There were tiny icons like Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, but among them was an incongruous phrase.

    [SSR ON-AIR]

    “SSR?”

    Sir Dominica murmured.

“It stands for System Server Radio.”

    Alice answered the question.

“It’s a dinosaur? broadcast that gives the fastest updates about system changes.”

Alice wanted to say “public broadcast,” but for Alice with her limited vocabulary, “public” was too difficult a word.

Sir Dominic reached for the button as if entranced.

Then suddenly realizing this wasn’t his card, he withdrew his hand.

Instead, Sir Dominic returned Alice’s card and took out his own to look at the corner.

There, indeed, was the phrase SSR ON-AIR.

    “Why don’t you press it?”

Sir Dominica stuck close to Sir Dominic’s side to watch.

Sir Dominic nodded and reached for the button.

[“—Well, everyone. We’re back with broadcast part 17. Wow, time flies so fast. It feels like today just started, but already 8 and a half hours have passed! Just kidding, of course. This evil corporation makes me talk all day but gives me barely any break time.”]

[“Anyway, breaking news. Those who’ve seen the weather forecast already know that there will be a jelly downpour today. But now, another anomaly has been discovered.”]

[“Candy hail from the west, sugar blizzard from the north, and injeolmi powder storm from the northeast are expected.”]

[“Currently, System Industries has sent coders to investigate whether these anomalies occurred naturally—”]

    “Wow.”

    Alice exclaimed in admiration.

“Not just a jelly downpour, but candy hail, sugar blizzard, and injeolmi powder storm too!”

Alice, who seemed to be experiencing a sugar high from the continuous sweet anomalies, was repeatedly cheering when she suddenly tilted her head.

“But that’s strange. These things usually happen one after another with time in between.”

    Sir Dominic slightly frowned.

The first thing he had learned while living in Gachaland was that whenever something unusual happened, it inevitably led to troublesome or difficult situations.

Sir Dominic sensed that these bizarre anomalies would cause some kind of trouble.

And that became reality with the system window that soon appeared.

    [Anomaly Occurred!]

[An anomaly where abnormally many anomalies are occurring has occurred!]

[System Industries thought this could naturally occur with a low probability, but after investigating the dynamics, they discovered someone deliberately caused these anomalies!]

[The culprit has been identified as a not-so-famous villain, Ms. Sweetie!]

[Super Deluxe, a famous figure in the villain world, has expressed deep regret about Ms. Sweetie’s crime—]

    Ah, as expected.

This is why I can’t hate Gachaland.

    Sir Dominic grinned.

[System Industries has issued a warrant for the villain who caused this anomaly that causes anomalies.]

[The impromptu event, ‘Catch Ms. Sweetie!’ begins now.]

[Hold on. Due to complaints about the lame name, we’re temporarily changing it to ‘Operation: Sweet Heart.’]

[Catch Ms. Sweetie through numerous anomalies!]

[The moment Ms. Sweetie is caught, participants in the event will receive some rewards.]

[Of course, the person who directly catches her will receive an even greater reward!]

[Please catch Ms. Sweetie and protect Gachaland’s daily life!]

“Master! And Master! Let’s participate in the event too!”

Alice said excitedly, hopping up and down.

Sir Dominic and Sir Dominica looked at each other.

And they immediately realized they had reached the same conclusion.

    Why not?

There was no reason to refuse something that looked this fun.
