Ch.179The Reason They Are Needed.
by fnovelpia
When two small setting posts about Bahrah’s Gonik were uploaded,
Gallery users began chattering excitedly about these brighter, more wholesome topics instead of the burdensome rumors about me.
Of course, many users were shaking their heads at this mindless scale expansion, but…

Title: So our game’s scale expansion is basically like a kid’s notebook doodles?

I mean, it’s kind of nerdy to nitpick realism in SF anyway
But isn’t this size increase getting ridiculous?
The sizes suddenly jump 2-3 times bigger, and by the time you get to cruisers, they’re dozens of times larger than patrol ships
Comments:
-[This is accurate]
-[But the bigger-is-better approach satisfies our battleship fetish, so I’m all for it]
-[Surprisingly, the patrol ship-frigate-destroyer lineup maintains somewhat realistic size ratios]
-˪[Really?](Original poster)
-˪[I’ll make a post about it]

Title: The funny thing is, destroyer sizes are actually somewhat realistic
Author: Anonymous
Content: [Image drawn in Paint(?)]
In Korea, patrol ships are around 80m
Frigates are just over 120m, so about 1.5 times bigger
Destroyers hit 160m or 170m, so another 1.5x increase, which isn’t completely wrong
And as mentioned in that series post, each faction has different sizes, so that needs to be considered too
Comments:
-[Are you comparing the Pohang-class with the King Sejong-class?]
-[I agree lol]
-[What is this even talking about?]
-˪[It’s the sound of countless modern warfare military otaku awakening after having to keep quiet in an SF world]
-˪[Ah]
-˪[That’s exactly what it is]

With nothing better to do, countless military enthusiasts and shield-bearers rushed in for “fun setting playtime,” creating a veritable renaissance of worldbuilding discussions.
And through this, newbie users began to understand why “superhumans” existed in this SF fleet battle game, and how the setting supported their presence.
—————————————-
Title: Honestly, I’ve been wondering why close-combat superhumans even exist here

Regardless of how attractive they are, let’s be honest—it’s really weird to have Jedi-like superhumans in an SF fleet battle game
At least some of them shoot beams or provide buffs like they’re ships themselves, so they help the fleet
But I thought close-combat superhumans were unnecessary from a setting perspective?
But after seeing those ship sizes and watching that 3rd place battle video where Ignis captured five destroyers in 15 minutes
I realized THAT’S why they’re f***ing necessary
Comments:
-[Exactly]
-[For real, only superhuman characters can deploy a single pod and potentially capture a 10km medium destroyer in minutes]
-[Whether regular or enhanced soldiers, to capture at the same rate as superhumans, you’d need to simultaneously deploy hundreds of assault pods from all directions on a 10km medium destroyer lol]
-[As the comment above says, for larger ships, it’s incredibly frustrating to have to bombard them to shreds before sending in troops to take control]
-[So the larger the ship, the more dramatically capture speed drops without high-performance close-combat superhumans]
—————————————-
“That’s fascinating. So the presence of superhumans can actually change the course of battle.”
“Yeah, pretty much.”
Looking at the gallery posts,
Jessica, who was watching beside me, commented with curiously sparkling eyes about how interesting the content was.
And as these kinds of discussions continued not just in the gallery but also in the main chat,
For the first time in ages, I felt genuinely satisfied seeing the gallery filled with “normal” topics
Instead of grandma and grandpa lovers, child enthusiasts, fur fetishists, gay shippers, and poop fetishists.
Of course, even in the midst of this…

‘I didn’t even say out loud that I was glad those were gone…!’
Talk about unfair accusations.
When this troll appeared posting disgusting images despite everything, I immediately imposed a 15-day community function ban,
Deleted the post, and had to search for other posts to cleanse my contaminated vision and memory.
And while looking for posts to help recover my mental state…

Title: I get it now, but could someone please save me?
Author: Anonymous

I’m starting to struggle…
Comments:
-[Why haven’t you been rescued yet?]
-[Lololol]
-[Just put in some effort]
-[Wait, Vice Clan Leader, what are you doing there…?]
-˪[Help me](Original poster)
-[LOL the Vice Clan Leader is stuck there hahaha]
-[This is driving me crazy lol]
-[Come to think of it, the only person who would ask the Clan Leader for a ship tour and get an immediate OK would be the Vice Clan Leader]
-[Legendary]

By coincidence, the “battleship deck castaway” who started the current topic turned out to be that clan’s Vice Clan Leader.
And after nobody had rescued him all this time, a clan member who saw his newly uploaded post “coincidentally” managed to find him.

Our clan member sent a patrol ship to save me
The Adjutant is about to smack me for leaving my communicator behind, gotta go
Comments:
-[This is like a sitcom lol]
-[Living the fun life]
-[At least that clan won’t be bored with a comedian as their Vice Clan Leader]
-[So entertaining~]
-[Little lost one, next time don’t escape from the base~?]
-˪[What kind of zoo narrator tone is that?]
-˪[Looking at his behavior, he does seem like a stray dog]
-[One silly action and now he’s getting all these weird comments lol]

Somehow managing to escape from the vast battleship deck,
He posted proof of his successful return to his “family,” making me feel like a YouTube reaction viewer watching a lost pet return home.
And in the midst of this…

Showing the back of your hand while making a V-sign is the British equivalent of the middle finger
Comments:
-[Wow, really?]
-[Damn, I didn’t think of that]
-[Isn’t this just an unfair accusation?]
-[This isn’t easy]

Most users criticized this anonymous poster’s interpretation as an unfair accusation, but…
Shortly after:

Title: Yes, I was flipping you off, you idiots

To all you jerks who just enjoyed the drama ㅗㅗ
Comments:
-[Why is this happening?]
-[???]
-[So it was true]
-[After being stranded on a battleship deck for hours, fair enough]

As users realized the anonymous poster’s suspicion was correct and began scattering like forest creatures, I found myself feeling quite conflicted about the whole situation.
