Ch.173Sisters

“Is this even possible?”
Karnok said, looking at the two girls before him. The two girls, who looked identical as if facing a mirror, were the same in every way. Their height, voice, and body shape were all identical. The only differences were their hair color, eyes, and the horns protruding from their heads.
“Why do you think it’s not possible?”
When all of you witnessed it with your own eyes—
Karnok let out a faint groan at the words of the black-haired girl, Seiran. As she said, Karnok and Sephiroth were direct witnesses to what had happened at dawn today. Having witnessed something unbelievable with their own eyes, they couldn’t deny it.
“Right. Seiran. You said you’re Seurin’s younger sister?”
“Yes. My sister has helped me a lot.”
“…”
Seurin frowned at Seiran’s response. She didn’t like the term of address that came from her sister’s mouth, but she kept quiet for now, unable to share personal family matters with just anyone.
Seiran, who had been reading the atmosphere, spoke up.
“If it’s uncomfortable, I’ll leave for now.”
This was the Blue Wing headquarters. As an outsider, Seiran’s presence might make Karnok, the commander, uncomfortable. Moreover, Blue Wing was fundamentally a space where outsiders’ access was strictly limited.
Although she was her sister who had been with her since before joining, that wasn’t the case now.
“No. For now… you can stay. That’s my judgment as commander.”
Seiran smiled brightly at Karnok’s answer. Karnok, who had been staring blankly at her, muttered in a small voice.
“She has so many facial expressions…”
Karnok had only observed the stoic demeanor of her subordinate until now. It was surprising to see someone with the same face capable of such rich emotional expressions.
“Thank you so much for allowing me to stay. Let me formally introduce myself. Seiran of the White Frost tribe. I’m a shaman who deals with curses and spirits.”
Swish—
Seiran rose from her seat and followed imperial etiquette. Though she hadn’t been formally taught, it was a greeting she had naturally acquired while being with her brother. Most of her knowledge had been obtained from her brother. To Seurin, Seiran was like a second parent.
Maybe I’ll call her mom later.
Seiran giggled to herself, imagining her brother’s reaction.
***
Seiran ended up living with Seurin in her room. Since their bodies were completely identical, they could share the existing clothes.
Seiran wasn’t particularly hiding. Since the Blue Wing commander had officially permitted her stay, she didn’t feel the need to conceal herself. Therefore, Seiran headed to the dining hall with Seurin for meals, and the entire headquarters had to experience a commotion due to Blue Wing members who witnessed this.
It should have been a quiet breakfast time as usual. However, that wasn’t the case now. Many people had gathered in the dining hall to directly confirm the existence of Seurin’s, the Blue Wing vice-commander’s, twin sister.
“My goodness…”
“Could it be the one she mentioned back then…”
Flora and Theo’s reactions were not much different. Although they had directly heard about her family matters from Seurin, no one had expected that her supposedly dead younger sister would return alive.
“Hello, Sister Flora. Brother Theo.”
“Ah, um…”
“Hello…”
She had the same appearance as their friend. Her friendly approach didn’t cause any discomfort. It felt like being with Seurin.
Amidst the cheerful atmosphere, only Theo had a serious expression, clutching his chest. He had to feel his heart racing the moment he faced Seurin’s younger sister.
‘I only have Seurin…’
Human emotions are truly cruel. Theo swallowed a sigh, recalling what his master had told him. It’s just a temporary confusion. Get a grip. Theo tightly closed his eyes while tapping his cheeks.
“Seiran. Try this.”
“Okay.”
“This too. And there’s plenty of this.”
“Okay. I’ll eat it all.”
Seurin took care of Seiran almost excessively. She even cut the meat for her and fed her, and if anything got on her mouth, she quickly wiped it with a handkerchief. She naturally fixed the slightly protruding hair on top of her head and even combed her tangled hair with a comb she took out of her pocket.
Rustle— Rustle—
The friendly sight of the two beautiful girls brought smiles to the faces of those around them.
“Vice-commander, you had a younger sister?”
“Seurin, aren’t you going to introduce her to us?”
“Is she also joining the group?”
Seurin had maintained good relationships with the Blue Wing members. Also, due to Blue Wing’s tendency not to stand on unnecessary formalities, few people hesitated to approach.
Seurin and Seiran were soon surrounded by Blue Wing members.
“How old are you?”
“Is that a headband on your head? It’s cute. Where did you buy it?”
“Do you have a favorite food? Do you like bread like the vice-commander?”
“Want some candy?”
Blue Wing’s vice-commander. Seiran’s appearance was exceptionally cute and beautiful. If one saw a small girl bustling around the Blue Wing headquarters, anyone would want to take care of her.
But they couldn’t express that feeling. Her status and the personality she usually showed were the issue. Therefore, the Blue Wing members tried to do for her sister what they couldn’t do for the stoic vice-commander.
“Seiran. Isn’t it overwhelming?”
“No, not at all. They’re all approaching because they like you, sister.”
To Seiran, Seurin was half of her world. There was no way Seiran would dislike someone who liked her. It was the way of the White Frost tribe to return kindness with kindness.
After the commotion, many gifts were piled up in the place where the members had been. Most were food items. Seiran sat down, unwrapped a candy, and tossed it into her mouth.
The sparkling bead-shaped candy rolled on her soft tongue. Seiran shivered at the sweetness of the candy she was tasting for the first time. She knew what it tasted like in her mind. However, it was her first time experiencing it directly with her own body.
“Delicious!”
Flap flap—
Her short limbs kept flapping, unable to contain her joy. Seurin, Flora, and Theo watched the scene with contentment.
“Oh right, Seurin. When your injury heals, let’s all take a vacation together.”
“A vacation…”
Seurin nodded at Flora’s words. They had indeed been running without rest. It seemed like it was time to take a break. Of course, that rest wouldn’t last long due to the upcoming Thousand Swords Festival.
After mealtime, Seurin dragged Seiran back to her room. Theo and Flora also joined them.
Upon arriving at the room, Seurin rummaged through the closet and said,
“Seiran. I have many clothes prepared for you. I’d like you to try them all on.”
“You bought all those for your sister? I thought you bought them for yourself…”
Seurin didn’t respond to Flora’s words. She had tried them on herself. When she couldn’t hear her sister’s response. She used to ask questions to herself while looking in the mirror.
Thinking about it now, it was quite embarrassing. The tips of Seiran’s ears turned red. She couldn’t show her friends the sight of herself dressed in such pretty clothes, examining herself in the mirror.
“How about this?”
What Seurin showed was a sky-blue dress.
“It’s pretty. But I want to wear the same clothes as my sister.”
“What…”
“If there’s nothing exactly the same, something similar would be fine. I’ll wear it if you wear something similar to that.”
Seurin’s gaze wavered greatly at Seiran’s words. Theo and Flora sat a little distance away, watching the scene with interest. It was a rare sight of their friend that they couldn’t usually see. It was so amusing that just watching made them want to laugh.
Seurin pondered. Should she give up on dressing her in pretty clothes, or should she endure a bit of embarrassment herself and dress her sister in pretty clothes? She had to choose one of the two.
After contemplating for a while, Seurin finally began to unbutton the top of the uniform she was wearing.
“Alright, Seiran. I’ll wear it too, so you wear it as well.”
“Really?”
“Really.”
In the end, Seurin had to enter the dressing room and wear one of the clothes she had bought for her younger sister. Thus, two flowy dresses were chosen.
She dressed herself in sky blue and Seiran in white. The expressions of the two girls standing in front of the mirror contrasted.
“I bought these clothes to dress you…”
“We can wear them together. We’re identical, after all.”
“Even so…”
“Even my underwear now is yours, sister.”
“That’s…”
As the conversation between the two girls continued, Theo’s face turned red. Eventually, unable to bear it, Theo abruptly stood up and left the room.
It was about ten minutes later when Seurin, Seiran, and Flora came out of the room. Seiran shouted,
“Let’s go! To that place called the Golden Hill!”
The Golden Hill was the name of Seiran’s favorite bakery. It was also a regular bakery frequented by most Blue Wing members. And so, the four of them left the Blue Wing headquarters and began walking through the streets of the empire.
