Ch.16Thump-Thump☆ Minotaur’s First Trip Together (1)

     A Week After Burning the Adventurers

    It’s been a week since I burned those adventurer fellows. By now, I’ve finished most of my preparations and have a good sense of my strength. From what I’ve heard humans say, when three Titanium Class humans gather, they can even take down a Minotauros…

    So I, who instantly killed fifteen Titanium Class adventurers, should be able to handle even those above Titanium Class. This confidence gave me the belief that I could now leave this forest.

    Though it hasn’t been long, my sweet home was cozy and nice… I felt reluctant to leave, but I soon turned around and set out from the forest to reach Fairy Tail, the country of fairies.

    *Thump… Thump…*

    “Mumu, mumumumu?” (By the way, where is Fairy Tail? Do you know the way?)

    “Hmm! Fairies naturally have a homing instinct! Don’t worry about finding the way! However… the problem is I don’t know how long it will take. Everyone who sees you will try to attack you…”

    “Mmmerrr” (I’ll just fight back then. It’ll be over quickly, so don’t worry.)

    Mary’s expression remained calm, either reassured by my words or simply unconcerned. I placed her on top of my head.

    “Eek! Why, why did you do that?”

    She seemed startled because I grabbed her without saying anything. Last time when I reached out my hand, she could see me coming from the front, so she didn’t react much, but this time I grabbed her from behind.

    “Mmmuuu-” (So you can ride comfortably on my head)

    “Oh, so that’s it? Then excuse me for a moment!”

    I smiled imagining Mary lying down on top of my head, and left the forest.

    * * * * *

    *BANG—!!!!!*

    “What in the world is going on——!!!!”

    Count Cayenne, exploding with anger again today, couldn’t believe what he’d just heard. He had clearly been told the Minotauros was in critical condition, and hadn’t he sent fifteen Titanium Class adventurers, more than enough manpower!

    “Explain to me how this happened, explain!!!! What are you doing keeping your mouth shut like that!!!!”

    Despite the Count’s furious orders, the Adventurer Guild Master couldn’t open his mouth. He had personally gone to check on the critically wounded creature after a long time, even taking pictures himself, and believed that even a single Titanium Class adventurer could have defeated it.

    But the result? The fifteen Titanium Class adventurers he sent never returned. Not knowing why they hadn’t come back, he went to check… only to find the forest quiet with nothing but burn marks remaining.

    Finally realizing his failure, the Guild Master was now reporting it, but… having personally guaranteed success to the Count, his failure meant the Count would execute him as previously threatened.

    But he knew well that if he tried to escape, his wife and children would suffer an even worse fate. So he abandoned any thought of escape and was calmly preparing to accept death.

    *BANG BANG BANG——!!*

    Just then, there came an urgent knocking at the door. Without waiting for the Count’s response, a figure entered and stated their business, regardless of the Count’s frown.

    “Co… Co… Count! An enormous Minotauros is currently heading toward our territory!!!”

    Hearing this, the Count and the Guild Master moved to the situation room where they could observe the outside.

    * * * * *

    “Mumu mmmer?” (Do we really have to go this way?)

    “Huh? No, going straight would be faster… but a human city is blocking the way, so wouldn’t it be better to go around?”

    A human city. Probably where those good fellows who kept supplying me with food lived. I thought about restocking food supplies, but… if the country formed a subjugation party, it would be troublesome, and I didn’t want Mary to get hurt in unnecessary fights, so I considered going around…

    But couldn’t I just jump over the wall and ignore their attacks as I pass through? That thought made it seem like a good idea. Actually, just jumping over the wall would really be fine, wouldn’t it?

    As soon as I had that thought, I asked Mary, who was lying on my head, for understanding, moved her to my hand to protect her, and headed straight for the city wall.

    * * * * *

    “The Minotauros! It suddenly changed direction and is heading for our territory-!!!”

    The city wall became busy as people gathered. Three ballistas mounted on the wall were prepared to fire at the enemy they hadn’t faced in a long time, and behind them, mages were preparing to cast whatever spells they could.

    After completing all preparations, they waited for the Minotauros to come within range. After a while, the creature, with legs several times longer than a human’s height, quickly entered firing range.

    “Fire-!!!”

    Ballistas and numerous spells were fired at the Minotauros. The spells illuminating the sky and arrows shot from the ballistas instantly flew toward the Minotauros, but…

    *BOOM-!!!*

    As it stomped its foot, the ground seemed to respond, creating a shield in front of it for protection.

    *CRASH-!! CRUMBLE-!!*

    The earthen wall that the Minotauros used as a shield couldn’t withstand the power of the magic and ballistas and crumbled. But thanks to it, the Minotauros remained completely unharmed. Seeing this, despair filled the soldiers’ eyes.

    If a monster that was already difficult to capture was immune to anti-monster ballistas and magic, how could they possibly defeat it? As the soldiers, despairing at the grim reality, began dropping their weapons one by one, the Minotauros brought its face to the city wall.

    *PUFF-!!*

    A soldier who caught its breath almost flew away, and as the soldiers panicked and tried to flee from the creature that towered over the wall, the Minotauros placed its hands on the wall… and jumped over it, entering the city.

    *MMMUUUU——*

    Its low voice began to announce its presence to the city.

    * * * * *

    Wow, why are these guys so rough with their greetings? Shooting arrows and magic at me.

    It felt strange, like I’d become a villain… but if I were human and suddenly an 8-meter tall bull approached me, I would have used every means available too, so I let it slide.

    If I pretended to go crazy and started a massacre here, a kingdom-scale subjugation party would surely come, and that would make it difficult to take the fairy home.

    So even though I only took a defensive stance, these guys couldn’t overcome their fear. As they acted like they were all about to die, I gave them a puff of breath for encouragement and jumped over the wall…

    *KYAAAAA——!!!!!!!*

    *It’s a Minotauros——!!!!!!*

    Chaos erupted. It felt like I was some kind of superstar… I understood why villains in superhero movies build up their infamy, but causing a disturbance here would be troublesome later, so I ignored it and started walking straight ahead.

    As I didn’t cause any commotion and just walked straight, people gradually calmed down and started watching me.

    Well, I must be the first Minotauros to walk proudly through a human-built city. Actually, these guys think I’m a Minotauros, not a Minotaurosa, so I won’t go down in history anyway.

    The crowd watching me walk proudly gradually grew. Some people fell because they couldn’t keep up with my pace, but well, that’s their problem.

    After walking for a while, I seemed to reach the central area, as three-story buildings started appearing. Well, even a three-story building barely reached my chest…

    After passing through the wealthy neighborhood, the noble’s castle finally came into view. Since it was where the grateful person who gave me food lived, I lightly bowed my head in greeting and leisurely left the city.

    * * * * *

    The Count and the Guild Master, watching everything from the Count’s castle, couldn’t hide their astonishment.

    It was amazing enough that when the Minotauros stepped on the ground, it created a wall that blocked all attacks at once, but to see it easily jump over the city wall!

    The Count quickly ordered the knights to deploy, but could they stop the creature that had already entered the territory? He thought perhaps they should have caught it while it was outside the castle, but it was too late for that.

    As the Count was hoping for minimal damage, a miracle descended upon him.

    Perhaps because he had faithfully donated to the church, God seemed to be watching over the city as the Minotauros left without causing any trouble. The Count began to believe in God’s existence.

    To think that a simple, brutish Minotauros would invade his territory yet only walk along the road obediently!

    While the territory’s residents watched this mysterious sight and even the deployed knights were too surprised by the non-aggressive Minotauros to do anything…

    The creature suddenly bowed politely toward the Count’s castle and then leisurely departed! Everyone witnessed the shocking sight of a monster bowing, and from that day forward, the Count became a devout servant of God.
