    Ch.163Chapter 163. Parent Observation Day (3)

“Hah… You guys really aren’t taking this seriously.”

Jinsoo crossed his arms and gave them a stern look.

But Yujin and Jake sitting across from him didn’t shrink back at all as they listened to his words.

“Tsk! Is this club a joke?!”

“Was the club not supposed to be a joke, Jinsoo?”

“Now that I think about it, it is a joke! You’re allowed to have some fun during club activities!”

    “…”

The silver-haired girl hanging on Jinsoo’s back.

Every time Cuss chattered away, Jinsoo’s expression softened and he quickly became docile.

He had already lost all the dignity he had when he first appeared.

“But this crosses the line! What on earth were you doing?”

“It was nothing, Jinsoo. I was just sitting on Yujin and Jake to compare how comfortable they were as chairs.”

    “Th-that’s not true!”

    “That’s not it!”

Yujin and Jake jumped up and shouted simultaneously.

They thought Cuss understood everything when she climbed on their backs, but she had completely misunderstood.

At this rate, they would be accused of doing inappropriate things in the school club room.

Yujin and Jake desperately defended themselves.

“Th-that’s not it! We were trying to do push-ups…”

“We thought there wasn’t enough weight, so we were just going to put Cuss on top…”

“Hmm! Come to think of it, it really is nothing! You might be curious about how it feels to sit on someone! When I was young, I used to play leapfrog too!”

    “Huh…?”

    “What?”

Yujin and Jake wore stupid expressions and were dumbfounded.

    Jinsoo wasn’t listening to anything.

He appeared to be deep in thought with his eyes closed, but in reality, he was covering his ears and only listening to Cuss’s words.

With that last line, Jinsoo completely lost whatever gravitas he had left.

Just a fool who accepted everything his daughter said.

That was exactly how Jake and Yujin perceived Jinsoo, nothing more, nothing less.

“Listen, kids. In Korea, there’s a saying that boys and girls shouldn’t sit together after the age of seven. Of course, that’s an old saying, but…”

    ‘Mom… still didn’t come.’

Jake glanced at the door while half-listening to Jinsoo’s lecture.

As expected, neither his mother nor father, not even his secretary, had come.

His father had told him a month ago to always be on guard because they would attend the club observation at an unexpected time.

It seemed his father was sweating bullets trying to cover up the sexual harassment incident, and his mother probably didn’t show up due to pride.

From what he heard, when Cuss hit Tom before, she had humiliated Cuss’s father by bringing up his rape and murder conviction…

    ‘She could just apologize.’

Why couldn’t adults do such a simple thing?

    Cuss’s father didn’t seem like such a narrow-minded person.

If anything, rather than being broad-minded, he seemed to have a poor memory.

Anyway, wouldn’t it be better to sincerely apologize, reconcile, and get along?

It’s not like they would have to avoid each other for the next five years until graduation.

While Jake was lost in these thoughts, Yujin, who was slightly adjusting his thick glasses…

‘I want to sit on Mom’s lap.’

He was barely suppressing the tingling in his body.

Until now, he had thoroughly maintained his concept in public.

The concept of a cool, handsome, quiet, and taciturn intellectual guy who excels in his studies.

But Yujin was now feeling the limits of his patience.

Watching Cuss hanging on her father without any regard for others’ gazes, rubbing her cheeks against him, burying her nose in his neck and sniffing—his self-control was being severely shaken.

    “Yujin.”

    “…?”

Just then, he heard his mother’s soft whisper.

Turning his head, Yujin could see his mother patting her knee, inviting him to come sit.

At that smile, Yujin’s bottom twitched momentarily, but he gritted his teeth and barely suppressed the urge.

‘You have to resist, Yujin Damon!’

    He couldn’t falter here.

Hadn’t he barely defended his concept from being completely shattered by one mistake by finding Jake’s weakness?

He had to prevent the rumor of being a mama’s boy from spreading throughout the school at all costs.

Soon, Yujin turned his back completely to his mother.

    “Pfft…”

Meanwhile, Victoria found her son so adorable that she rested her chin on her hand, smiling as she admired even the back of his head.

“Who’s the president of this club?”

    “I am.”

“You again? Recite your activities. Since this is an observation, I should at least hear what you guys do.”

“O-our club is a reading club! We read educational books and write book reports to share with each other to broaden our perspectives…”

“Hey! Did I ask what kind of club it is? I asked what activities you’ve done. Specifically.”

“Right now, we’ve read this book and written book reports…”

“Let me see. Is this it?”

Jinsoo glanced at the desk and picked up a piece of paper.

Something was scribbled in barely legible handwriting with excessive blank spaces.

    -Plot: Nothing special.

-Thoughts: It was boring. I never want to read it again. Honestly, I wanted to quit halfway through, but I forced myself to finish it.

    “Whose book report is this?”

    “I wrote it.”

“Really? Looking at it again, it’s a free-spirited book report that doesn’t adhere to any format. Come to think of it, do club activities need to be so rigid? It’s about friends bonding, after all.”

    “…”

And just a moment ago, he was talking like he was going to audit every activity record meticulously.

Jake was dumbfounded by Jinsoo’s sudden change in attitude.

    “You’re very lenient.”

“I just came to see if they’re doing well. They seem to be getting along fine, so that’s enough.”

“Is that so? I’m not satisfied yet. Mr. President?”

    “Ah! Yes, Yujin’s mother!”

“Copy and give me the attendance records, activity reports, activity plans, and expense reports. I’ll be comparing them with the documents submitted to the school, so there’s no use changing them midway, understand?”

    “Yes…”

Jake couldn’t meet Victoria’s eyes as she gave orders with a smile.

She had been quiet all along, so he thought she was just a pleasant person who smiled a lot.

The real threat wasn’t Cuss’s father at all.

In the club room that had suddenly turned from a parent observation to an audit scene, Jake nervously swallowed.

    ‘We’re screwed…’

At this rate, the embezzlement of club activity funds would be discovered.

Yet the very person who had embezzled the money seemed completely unconcerned.

    ***

    “Cuss. Men are creatures that…”

    “Uh-huh.”

“If you give them one eye-smile, they think you like them, and they believe even the slightest touch is fate. They hover around like idiots for a long time, then suddenly out of nowhere, they make a public confession that embarrasses the woman. That’s what creatures with dicks are like.”

    “Mmm. I understand.”

“So don’t be too nice to them. Not if you don’t want to receive confession attacks and have to cut ties.”

Now that I’ve seen what these kids are up to, I’m worried.

When I first saw the two male members lying down asking her to climb on their backs, I nearly fainted.

But after cooling my head, I thought maybe that’s just how kids play these days, though I still wondered if it was normal for boys and girls to be so physical with each other.

    “Jinsoo.”

    “What?”

    “Are you upset?”

    “Why would I be upset?”

“Are you bothered by seeing me maintain harmonious relationships with my fellow students?”

“Huh. Ha. Hmph. What are you talking about? Seriously. I can’t believe this.”

    “I’ll comfort you.”

    Swoosh.

Cuss pulled my arm toward her body.

Ah. Come to think of it, when Cuss comforts me, she lets me touch…

    “Hey! We’re still at school!”

    “Hehehe…”

I quickly withdrew my hand and looked around.

Fortunately, there was no one else in the parking lot.

I almost ended up back in prison, accused of being a father who sexually harasses his daughter.

I patted the head of Cuss, who was grinning like a devil, and walked a little distance away.

Then Cuss took a step closer and stuck by my side again.

    “Shall we take the bus?”

“Good. It’s been a while since Jinsoo and I took the bus alone…”

    Screech!

Just then, a loud braking sound erupted from behind.

Reflexively turning around, I saw a car entering the parking lot, leaving skid marks on the ground.

The car, narrowly avoiding the barrier, drifted in front of us and came to a screeching halt.

It was a very familiar-looking car.

    Thud…!

“Is the observation! Is the observation over?”

    “Yes. Unfortunately, you’re late.”

    “How could this be…!”

Juliane, who got out of the car, looked crestfallen.

It seemed Juliane had high expectations.

She said she would come as soon as work was done, but she didn’t, so I thought she was working overtime. I didn’t expect her to come even now.

“I wanted to see Cuss being so competent!”

    “Hmm…”

“You said it was a reading club, right? I wanted to see her intellectual side, sitting quietly and reading books! And I wanted to read her well-written book reports too…!”

    “Umm…”

Juliane hugged Cuss, who had a smug expression, and kept expressing her disappointment.

But what are you so smug about…?

The more I thought about it, the more I felt Juliane was better off being late.

Let’s just tell Juliane that Cuss was quiet and intellectual during club activities.

Even though the reality was completely different.

“Well, it can’t be helped. Shall we go home now?”

    “Let’s do that.”

    “Sigh…”

I gave Juliane a light kiss and sat in the passenger seat.

The sky was already growing dark.

Now I need to go home and cook dinner.

Ah. What should I make for dinner today?

I suddenly felt at a loss.

“By the way, when will the health checkup results be out?”

“About that… I made a mistake with the timing. They said this is an extremely busy period for applications. There are many people waiting ahead, so it will probably take quite a while for the results to come out.”

    “Hmm. Is that so?”

I reached back and removed a piece of snack from the corner of Cuss’s mouth, putting it in her mouth.

My finger brushed against her lips with a smack, leaving saliva on my index finger.

It had been over half a year since I’d been licking and sucking this saliva, but there had been no abnormalities.

It seemed I didn’t need to worry about any strange viruses showing up in the health checkup results.

“It’s getting a bit chilly these days.”

“Ah, yes. They say the cold wave is coming early due to abnormal climate conditions. It might snow next week.”

    “No way. Really?”

    Snow in October?

    In LA?

    Surely not. That’s impossible.

    “Snow…! Can I see snow?!”

“Why are you talking like it’s your first time? You’ve been on Earth for three years.”

“It is my first time. It never snowed in Florida.”

    “Ah…”

    I see.

Cuss might never have seen snow.

I had underestimated the vastness of this country called America.

“Look forward to the snowy day! I’ll make sure we have lots of fun!”

    “Okay!”

“Hehehe. If possible, I’d like to join too.”

When was the last time I eagerly waited for a snowy day?

I thought I had forgotten such romance since elementary school.

But seeing Cuss’s shining eyes made me excited too.

I hope it really does snow next week.
