Chapter 163. The Ancient Serpent (4)

I didn’t forget to check the real-time progress board from time to time.

    – Comments –

[UltraSansMadWithMoonlightMassacreMode: Malak is tracking the location of the seven-headed dragon demon with Paya priest’s help. I’ll mark the location in my reply]

    ㄴ [UltraSansMadWithMoonlightMassacreMode: They’ve departed]

ㄴ [UltraSansMadWithMoonlightMassacreMode: Just arrived at Tibera]

    ㄴ [UltraSansMadWithMoonlightMassacreMode: Arrived at Symphonia]

ㄴ [MorningTentInstaller: Sans, the bastard is here, fuck!]

ㄴ [ITrustedMonkeyUncle: Okay game over, exterminate them all. Fucking demon bastards]

[FallenPowerKnight: Is that deformed dragon the seven-headed dragon? It looks truly horrific]

[Ghooulr: Wow shit… why are there so many?]

ㄴ [CowBikiniDance: Well… because they all gathered]

    [MeleeSpy: Ihavedonenothinginmylifebutplayedgamesandnowifellintothisworldwiththesegoddamnedemonbastards…]

ㄴ [LuluTV: If you’re MeleeSpy desperately wanting to escape, thumbs up~!]

    [FallenPowerKnight: They’re coming]

[WolfMan: The giant robot’s firepower is insane]

[PetitNoa: The demons are concentrating their attack on one part of the wall! We need support!]

    [Bramanda: (Photo of cracked wall)]

ㄴ [Bramanda: This part is about to collapse!]

[NotACatfish: My special forces and I are going down below the castle]

[Bobobo: We’re all gonna die at this rate. When is Malak going to transform?]

ㄴ [MorningTentInstaller: The seven-headed dragon and those dragon bastards are just watching with their hands behind their backs, what’s the point of stepping in now?]

ㄴ [ITrustedMonkeyUncle: If Malak was going to kill them all by himself, why did we join? (genuinely asking)]

ㄴ [Ghooulr: Bobobo, stop trembling up front and earn your keep]

[FallenPowerKnight: I’ll protect the totem on the wall]

Good. No dangerous situations I’m unaware of. I was about to move to Totem #3 to help Lakye when:

    [MeleeSpy: Look at that]

[MeleeSpy: The high-ranking demons are moving]

I checked the demon camp after MeleeSpy’s comment. I could see high-ranking demons that had been waiting around the seven-headed dragon and other dragons.

Some were drawing massive magic circles, while others were moving directly.

They weren’t giant monsters, just about 10-15 meters tall. They joined the procession of countless low to mid-level demons that looked like swarms of insects.

It’s too far to attack those drawing magic circles. Let’s deal with the moving ones first.

    I’ll need a sniper now.

    – Bring the mage Luna.

Luna and I have something prepared.

    “Yes!”

One of the warriors escorting me alongside FallenPowerKnight ran off.

Shortly after, Luna arrived. In her hands was a magical weapon that looked like a bazooka.

    The so-called “Luna’s Magic Wand.”

    – Are you ready?

“Yes. I’ve been conserving my power for this moment.”

Luna said confidently. Her expression was reassuring.

    – High-ranking demons are mixed in with that army. We need to eliminate them. Can you do it?

    “I can.”

Luna set up her magic wand and activated it. The large mana stone embedded in the center of the wand emitted light.

    – Let’s begin.

Luna nodded and placed her eye against something that looked like a scope. Not an ordinary sniper, but a bazooka sniper.

    “They’re in range… Now!”

    Rumble!

I sent lightning down toward Luna’s magic wand. The moment the lightning struck the wand, Luna chanted a spell.

“Del rama, tu sana, re puka! Wrath of nature!”

    Whoosh-!

With that, a heavy metal projectile was fired. A lethal bullet powered by Luna’s magic and my lightning.

    Bang!

The head of the high-ranking demon hit by the bullet disappeared. It collapsed to the ground in the same position it was hit and didn’t get up again.

Wow, one shot, one kill. Even beings once called gods are no match for this tremendous physical force.

The principle might be quite different, but in terms of power, it wouldn’t be wrong to call it a fantasy version of a small railgun.

Luna didn’t make it; it was an unfinished product from Beatrice’s secret storage that we modified. I brought it along just in case, but I didn’t expect it to be this helpful.

“I’ll prepare for the next attack.”

Luna removed the mana stone from the smoking magic wand. All the mana stored in the stone was consumed in a single attack.

Like all powerful weapons, the magic wand had terrible efficiency. But who cares? If we lose this war, it’s all over anyway.

[PrincessDina: We’ve dealt with almost all the flying demons in sight. I’ll join you at the gate]

‘The flying enemies are no longer visible! Toughie is struggling, so I’ll come down for a moment!’

Dina’s comment and Paya’s prayer came simultaneously.

Dina is going elsewhere, and Paya is taking a break. Okay.

    Ziiing-!

I checked the magic circle again.

It’s the magic circle the high-ranking demons have been creating. I don’t know what it is, but it reeks of ominous energy.

    – Luna. Can we attack the magic circle?

“Hmm… it’s too far. We could attack, but there’s a high chance of missing.”

Luna answered while preparing for the next shot.

How can I disrupt that? I can’t ask Lakye to go all the way there and use the Chaos Totem.

I kept thinking of solutions while moving between the community and totems, applying buffs and debuffs in succession.

    “Advance! Don’t let them in!”

Kanto and Isaac went down to the gate to command.

    Ziiiiing-!

The god-machine was grabbing the body of a huge high-ranking demon and firing heat rays.

“I’ll take these explosives and drop them on their heads!”

Paya and Toughie were preparing their next attack even while resting.

    Slash!

Lakye, mercilessly cutting down demons with his meteor sword, confirmed.

    “I’m fine. Still going strong.”

    – Save enough strength for emergencies.

    “Understood. Don’t worry.”

Lakye grinned as he cut a demon in half. A true killer smile.

I returned to Totem #1. Phew, this is really hectic.

Honestly, the mental drain isn’t that bad. Compared to maintaining incarnation for one minute, this is just a drop in the bucket. I just feel a bit dizzy from constantly switching between totems and sending my consciousness.

    “Now!”

Ah, time to strike with lightning.

    Rumble!

Luna fired her second bullet. I confirmed a high-ranking demon with its chest blown open. Another one-shot, one-kill.

    – …!

I sensed an ominous energy and turned my gaze. An eerie green light was erupting from the demons’ magic circle.

The high-ranking demons standing on the magic circle suddenly disappeared.

    Woong-!

They reappeared in the sky with green light. Seven high-ranking demons were falling toward the castle wall.

Teleportation. A magic that only arch-mages can use. And that’s after days of preparation. Even as mortals, they’re on a different level.

Judging by the fact that only relatively smaller high-ranking demons were transported, there seems to be a capacity limit, but seven is still a threatening number.

Their targets must be Totem #1 and Luna. I was considering whether to incarnate when:

“You bastards, you fell right into it!”

    MeleeSpy stepped forward.

    “Battle Cry!”

    Yiaaaaaaah-!

When MeleeSpy roared, the high-ranking demons approached him as if entranced.

    Ah, that’s right.

Battle Cry, a level 6 skill that enables area-of-effect taunt. As expected of a tank, MeleeSpy had excellent aggro management.

“Light Protection! Light Edge! Light’s Blessing!”

MeleeSpy, plastered with all kinds of buffs, clashed with the seven high-ranking demons.

“Come on! All of you come! Shock Reflection!”

MeleeSpy blocked their attacks with his shining shield and armor. As a bonus, he used the “Shock Reflection” skill at the right timing to counter-attack.

Indeed, he fights well like a veteran player.

He’s not as skilled in combat techniques as warriors. It’s more like he uses the right skills at the right timing.

He had enough skill to boast about being a level 999 paladin. Well, he might be the strongest paladin according to himself.

“Ack! Ugh! Eck! This fucking hurts!”

But there’s no defense against being ganged up on. Especially by high-ranking demons. Even a level 9 paladin has clear limitations.

    “L-Light Explosion!”

    “Light’s Snare!”

    “Judgment Strike!”

The paladins were using all their skills, but the effect wasn’t very impressive.

At this rate, they’ll be pushed back. I used Blessing to summon Lakye. Since Dina had joined, it should be fine for Lakye to leave briefly.

    “Haah!”

Lakye immediately swung his meteor sword coated with divine power. With a slashing sound, one high-ranking demon’s arm was severed.

    Grrrr…!

The high-ranking demons turned their attention to Lakye. MeleeSpy’s taunt must be wearing off.

    – Paladins, focus your skills on my guardian Lakye!

    “Understood!”

Lakye, surrounded by all kinds of buffs, shook off the green blood on his meteor sword and moved again.

    Kirruk!

The tables had turned. Lakye overwhelmingly pushed back the high-ranking demons with his incredible speed and attack power. The high-ranking demons unleashed various attacks, but they were powerless against Lakye’s divine power.

Level 9 or whatever, a demigod is the best.

    MeleeSpy? Just a meat shield.

    “Seven high-ranking demons… caught…”

I ignored the one muttering something.
