Ch.152I Had a Plan, Maybe? (1)
by fnovelpia
Of course, I didn’t immediately believe it.
Some bastards go as far as meticulously photoshopping screenshots to create fakes.
Not to mention those who pull dirty tricks like arbitrarily changing numbers in settings or stats.
I instantly shook off my drowsiness and began searching through the wiki tab about this matter.
Sure, someone might say, “Couldn’t the wiki tab be faked too?” But fortunately, the wiki tab wasn’t a place where users could fabricate information like some plant wiki from my past life.
It wasn’t managed by rankers with badges like me, but directly by the administration team.
Even the original authors couldn’t freely modify their posts, making it a trustworthy source of information.
Anyway, while mentally justifying the wiki tab’s reliability for some reason, I searched for information and eventually found exactly what that user had mentioned, recorded by a wiki historian.

Title: Tips about Mercenary Offices and Faction Forces in the Base #5
Author: Wiki Historian mk-6
Content: [Base Configuration Image]
As I mentioned before, faction offices and mercenary offices are similar but different places, and you use separate points for each.
By now, everyone must be wondering if these bastards have an awkward number of points and ships.
If you think you might be wrong, rest assured—you’re exactly right.
As I’ve mentioned several times in my mercenary office tip series, this system has serious structural flaws, making it barely useful except during the newbie phase or when you’re desperately fighting and need even one more ship.
What’s more annoying is that you must hire these guys in “mercenary unit” blocks, which often creates mismatches between point limits and unit numbers.
You have to keep rolling randomly, but mercenary unit offerings randomly change once per day.
You get one free change, but nothing beyond that.
Sorry if I’m rambling because this pisses me off so much.
To summarize:
1. There’s a limit to fleet points you can recruit from mercenary offices and faction dispatch fleets (unofficial name, actually different for each faction)
2. Not just point limits—there are ship number limits too
3. The shitty part is that while you can choose what you want from faction dispatches, mercenary offices force you to hire by “mercenary unit”
4. Each mercenary unit has different ship holdings and point costs, but you can’t choose them freely
5. You can change twice a day, but one isn’t when you want—it automatically changes after a day passes
6. How the hell did I ever play this crappy game?
Anyway, the mercenary office is truly a shitty system, often called “a chicken you can’t throw away”
But there’s exactly one exception—if you manage to get the Pirate Empress on your side?
Then all those annoying “limits” at the mercenary office just disappear
The lore is that the Empress’s connections come into play, allowing commanders with the Empress to make unlimited purchases based on her guarantee
Comments:
-[So without the Empress, it’s useless no matter who uses it?]
-˪[Yes, you’re smart, good job](Author)
-[For real]
-[Sometimes I optimize mercenary points perfectly, then a battleship-carrying mercenary unit appears and I have an internal crisis]
-˪[If it’s a battleship, you grab it without hesitation, why even think about it?]
-˪[Wouldn’t you hesitate if you already had a battleship?]
-˪[The battleship gets duplicated!!!!!]

“Wow!”
==========
So after revealing my hidden power(?) that even I didn’t know about, the next day.
Our so-called “88 Fleet”(?) reconstruction plan was gaining momentum.
Of course, regardless of our burning determination…

<Capital Ship Shipyard Construction List>
-<Dock #1>
<Battlecruiser under construction…>
<Time remaining: 2 days 17 hours 2 minutes 59 seconds>
<Resources consumed: 15,500 minerals, 3,700 rare resources>
—————————————-
As you can see, our first battlecruiser, the starting point of our fleet reconstruction plan, was still under construction at the capital ship shipyard.
Since the awesome 88 Fleet plan was a super-long-term project requiring at least months of patient waiting,
I decided to continue with the monster-related quest separately from the 88 Fleet.

<Neural Network Building Growth Complete!>
<Regular Monster Breeding Ground Growth Complete>
<Units with the ‘Monster’ trait have been added to the list of units that can be deployed on ships.>

And right on cue, the monster breeding ground “growth” was completed.
For the next construction goal, half-consumed by the neural network module(?),
I decided to proceed with upgrading the biology lab, which was starting to look like the infected ships from “Peace-Frame” or the I-mura from De- Space that I often saw in my past life.
However, since this was another structure I had no memory of seeing when I played the game in my past life,
I wondered if there had been some crappy update, so I searched for information in the gallery’s wiki tab.
—————————————-
<No results found for ‘Biology Lab Upgrade’>
—————————————-
“Why is there nothing?”
For some reason, there was no information about this matter in the wiki tab, which made me tilt my head in confusion despite not being a cute girl.
But that thought didn’t last long.
“Oh right, this is still being written.”
When users were forcibly incarnated into this world, connections to the real internet were cut off.
Naturally, links to Wiki-tree became useless, so users were rebuilding information from scratch.
Considering this, the information I wanted might not have been written yet.
I closed the wiki tab and decided to search the gallery for the same keywords.
Of course, in the process, I had to deal with the usual trolls,
Like banning for a day someone who posted an image titled “Sexy Pirate Empress.jpg” that actually showed the Pirate “King” in a bikini.
After performing my routine duties as a moderator and banning about 13 people,
I finally found a post with the content I was looking for.
However, the content was quite… unusual…

Title: WTF is this Biology Lab Upgrade?
Author: Anonymous
Content: [Image of the base from outside, with what looks like a massive fleshy tentacle monster attached to about 1/3 of the total structure], [Mosaic-censored image of flesh walls], [Giant tentacle grabbing a battlecruiser and (censored)]
I suddenly got an upgrade notification so I tried it and
This motherfucker is alive and raping my ships!
It turned my superhumans into breeding stock, and now it’s trying to get me too

-[What the hell is this?]
-[I can feel the urgency in this post~]
-[Seriously what is this?]
-[What’s breeding stock?]
-˪[Good children should go wash up and sleep]
-[Wait, is this tentacle stuff for real;;]

“…?”
I couldn’t understand what was happening at all.
From the images, it looked like giant tentacles sprouting from the base were wrapping around a docked battlecruiser and trying to enter its nozzles,
Or attempting to expand their territory into the base interior.
It looked “very, very, very” dangerous to anyone who saw it.
Wondering what the hell was going on, I immediately canceled the biology lab upgrade I was about to do,
And rushed to the current biology lab to find out exactly what was happening.
