# Third Day.
Who would believe that waking up to find a day erased from your memory? After checking the date on the calendar, Evan rubbed his tired eyes. How on earth… did this happen?
He hadn’t stayed up all night; he had simply collapsed and fallen asleep. Looking around, he saw his room was already neatly organized. Heaving a deep sigh, Evan scratched his head and headed outside.
“Ah, you’re awake?”
Airin’s face, wearing an apron, was the complete opposite of Evan’s. Her skin was soft and glowing more radiantly than ever. Like dewdrops sparkling in the sunlight…
‘How?’
Though his memory was hazy, Evan clearly remembered Airin falling against his chest. He thought they had fallen asleep together and stayed that way, so why was he so exhausted while Airin looked so refreshed?
Thinking about it, there were many strange things. The position where they had collapsed was different, and the hotel room that was supposed to be off-limits to everyone was completely tidied up. On top of that, he felt as tired as if he had just been physically active.
He had long surpassed the limits of his body, enough to be considered superhuman. He was confident he could definitely beat Mabet if they fought again.
But to be this exhausted just from those few times at night seemed completely illogical. Evan’s gaze turned to Airin. Her appearance in a thin negligee with an apron over it was something he had never seen before in his life.
Should he say something that might ruin the mood on a day like this? His wandering eyes soon found their place again.
‘Let’s just let it go.’
Though a thought did cross his mind, Evan decided to ignore it. Even if it were true, what did it matter? Airin was preparing breakfast for him herself—even if he had slept for two days, he had no intention of complaining.
Because it was their honeymoon, a once-in-a-lifetime honeymoon. Evan smiled and shrugged his shoulders. As if nothing was wrong, he simply smiled while discreetly covering his tired eyes with his hand.
“What’s going on? So early in the morning.”
“I wanted to try it. I’ve always been eating what you made, Evan.”
“I wasn’t doing it to get something in return.”
“Don’t come over here, just sit down. I’ll do everything.”
Evan’s face bloomed with smiles as he watched Airin cooking. How could it not? His now-wife was out here preparing breakfast for him. As Evan was about to head back to the table, his eyes narrowed.
“Airin, that—”
“I’ll handle it. Just sit at the table for now. Don’t you trust me?”
“No, that’s not it…”
With Airin pushing his back, Evan hesitantly took a seat at the table. The knife and fork neatly arranged in front, the flower-patterned plates they had received as wedding gifts. Yet, Evan’s gaze was still fixed on Airin as she returned to the kitchen.
‘That container labeled salt…’
No matter how he looked at it, that was sugar.

While it was true that they had chosen the Rodenov Duchy for their honeymoon, the eastern region was also one of the places they had planned to visit. Adilun Rodenov and Whisis Ortere. The birthplace and childhood home of Whisis Ortere, unlike the north, had a slightly warmer temperature, and Airin looked around.
It was still the end of autumn, so it was much more autumnal than the Rodenov Duchy, which was completely covered in snow. Was Yuris still showing autumn colors too? For the north, Yuris was quite a warm place.
Perhaps what could truly be called the north was occupied by barbarians. But this temperature in Ortere felt just like seeing Yuris, and Airin smiled slightly as she naturally took Evan’s hand.
“Now you’re the one initiating these things. Before—”
“That was two years ago.”
How long was he going to bring up old stories? Of course, at first… before they were even dating, holding hands was embarrassing, but now she felt empty if she didn’t hold his hand.
Just like feeling empty when something isn’t in its place, she felt that Evan’s hand belonged in hers. Airin thought this as she quietly looked ahead.
“I was 19 then, and I’m 21 now. It’s about time I changed.”
“That’s right, now you’re also a mother.”
At Evan’s joke, she frowned briefly, then let out a “pah” and looked up at the sky. Wasn’t it relaxing? Unlike before, they didn’t have to think about fighting anyone; they could just walk together, just the two of them.
The basket in her hand contained sandwiches that Evan had made himself. Fresh fruit juice made from blended fruits, and a wide-brimmed white hat to shield from the sun. Airin thought this leisure felt strange. Everything she had experienced with Evan was strange, but… being able to be here now without any worries still felt like a dream.
Waking up in the morning, leisurely looking out the window, eating the meal Evan prepared, then going to the room to work, and spending time with the child again. When the sun sets, they could go to the bedroom to sleep, and sometimes they spent time together with Evan.
Yet no one looked at her as if she were strange. In perfectly distributed time, the tightly wound spring that had creaked as it turned no longer existed. Leisurely, doing as she pleased. There were no dangers like extinction or Mabet. If there was anything to worry about, it would be Evan meeting another woman and the children.
“What are you thinking about so deeply?”
“…Just wondering what Robelia and Arthur will be like when they grow up. I guess I’ve really become a mother now. I’m thinking about them even while we’re here.”
“That’s only natural. I was thinking about them too.”
Although they were still children who couldn’t even speak properly, someday they might grow up so quickly that they wouldn’t notice. Later, when they grow taller than them and bring home a boyfriend or girlfriend—while making such idle thoughts, she stared blankly into space, thinking that it might really happen that way.
The small hill near Ortere, the hill under a large tree, looked like a familiar landscape. It was a place Evan had frequently visited with his sister when he lived as a pianist, and also a landscape he had seen once before in Siren.
The familiar scent of that landscape was enough to make Evan sink into a strange sentiment. After settling on the blanket and putting down the basket, an autumn leaf gently landed on the basket’s cover. In the distance, a yellow-tinged wheat field was visible. The wheat field swaying with each gust of wind looked like nothing but yellow waves.
After staring at it for a while, Airin took a small bite of her sandwich and moved her lips.
“This is delicious.”
“Of course, I made it. And… Airin, you don’t have to cook from now on.”
The stew with sugar instead of salt was quite impressive. It was clearly a tomato stew, but Evan still couldn’t understand why it tasted like meat. Well, isn’t it true that if a person is too perfect, they lack humanity? Evan thought that Airin just couldn’t cook, that’s all.
“It feels like I’ve been here before, don’t you think so too, Evan?”
“This is where I confessed to you. I wouldn’t be human if I forgot.”
The emotions from that time were still vividly preserved in a corner of his heart. Crafting the ring, always keeping it close to his chest for fear that Airin might discover it early, and finally confessing and becoming lovers. It was probably something he would never forget in his lifetime.
It was just a moment.
Back then, he thought time would stop forever and they would stay in that place for eternity, but now they were even married. The time he believed would be the happiest had now become a memory. In other words, there would be many more happy times ahead.
Swish, instead of the fresh fruit juice, what he took out was a low-alcohol wine. Something he had secretly packed in the basket so they could feel the atmosphere without getting drunk. As Evan shook it with a faint smile, Airin chuckled and stared at him.
“When did you prepare this?”
“Just saw it and brought it along.”
Thinking about it, even a single bottle of wine like this contained many memories. The things Airin said while looking at the stars when she first got drunk. Airin, who used to gaze at the stars through the window, no longer yearned for them. She had already become a more brilliant existence than the stars themselves.
…And he too no longer thought of stars as lonely. He no longer needed to reflect himself in the stars in the sky. Neither he nor the stars were lonely beings anymore.
The stars brush against the wind. Between the slowly setting sunset, a white moon was gradually revealing itself. There were things that could only be seen in the darkness. That moon, those stars. And the atmosphere carried by this cool breeze.
Who said autumn was a lonely season? Clink, the wine glasses made a clear sound as they touched. Wine spilled slightly onto the ground, and then two eyes met and sparkled in the darkness.
“Do you remember what I said when I confessed?”
How could she forget those words? Airin smiled at that and whispered softly as she leaned on Evan’s shoulder.
“You said you loved me.”
“…It’s a cliché expression, but I think nothing beats those words.”
If he had been a bit more eloquent, couldn’t he have confessed in a much more stylish way? Starlight shattered against the empty wine glass. Recalling the first time their lips met, intoxicated by alcohol, Evan tilted his head toward Airin, who was leaning on his shoulder.
With their heads completely touching, an autumn leaf fluttered down between Evan and Airin as they gazed blankly at the sky.
“I still love you.”
“And in the future?”
With a small smile, as if it were obvious, Evan answered.
“I will love you forever.”
Like those stars that would never fade from the sky, Evan loved the stars.
Just as Airin once did. Now, Airin was Evan’s star.
