Ch.151English Kindergarten Part-Time Job (4)

“Miss Mishiko. When will we get the prizes from the competition?”

    One child suddenly asked.

“That’s right!! The kindergarten next door won too!!”

“Those kids in uniforms!!! They just crushed it with their speech!!”

“Teacher!! Give them to us quickly….I’m getting dizzy….!”

The children reacted immediately to those words.

    “Umm….the delivery man hasn’t come yet….”

Miss Mishiko seemed to be making up an excuse.

“The delivery person hasn’t come for over a week?”

One child expressed an innocent doubt.

“Maybe…he was attacked by bandits on the way?”

    “W-what’s ‘bandit’ in English?”

Miss Mishiko tried to change the subject immediately.

    “Bandit!!”

However, the children knew English better than expected.

“There are no bandits in this day and age.”

One child voiced a reasonable argument. Yeah. Bandits…they don’t exist these days.

At that moment, one child spoke up.

“Could it be…that there are no prizes?”

The crowd stirred at those words.

“My dad told me!! Don’t trust people with long tongues!!”

“Does Miss Mishiko have a long tongue?!”

    “It’s a figure of speech!!”

    “Give them to us now!!”

    The mood quickly turned hostile.

Making excuses now would be like pouring oil on a fire.

Finally, after racking my brain, I opened my mouth and spoke.

“Why are we all here today?”

    I interjected with a smile.

    “Stay out of this, mister!”

    The girls shouted sharply.

“Hey!! Listen to the harem master’s words! Pay attention!!”

    “Yeah!! Listen!!!”

However, I had already won over the boys. To them, I was a legendary figure who had achieved every man’s dream of having a harem.

“Actually, the delivery is too heavy. We all came here to help move the packages.”

    That’s what I said.

    “Ohhhhh!!! That means!!!”

    The children reacted immediately.

    “Yes!!!! The delivery has arrived!!”

I bluffed to calm the unrest.

    “Kyaaaaaaah!!!!”

    “The delivery is here!!!!”

“If this was a lie, I was going to have my lawyer dad sue you!!!”

    “H-hurry and show us!!!”

    The children shouted loudly.

    “Then I’ll go get it?”

I immediately led the group away.

    ——–

As soon as we went to the back of the kindergarten, Miss Mishiko yelled.

“Shota-kun!!! You shouldn’t tell lies that will be exposed!!”

    Miss Mishiko shouted.

“I’m a man who takes responsibility for what he says. What are the prizes supposed to be?”

    I asked Miss Mishiko.

Well…..I do have money saved from my web novel royalties. I was planning to use it to strengthen the party, but….this is an emergency. I was prepared to spend money here.

    “Here’s…the catalog of items.”

Miss Mishiko immediately handed me a catalog.

    ‘Superhuman Detective Holmes’

Ah. A die-cast robot. But…..the price was astronomical. 50,000 yen…..That was a large sum that could be someone’s monthly living expenses.

“What kind of toy costs 50,000 yen?!”

    Umi immediately shouted.

“Ah. It’s not an ordinary plastic toy. It’s a special product made entirely of metal alloy that properly captures the texture of the robot. Plus, it represents the superhuman enhancement full burst state from the final battle scene of the first season, so it’s highly valued by enthusiasts.”

    Sasith suddenly became talkative.

“Sasith….you know a lot about this.”

I said with a sly smile.

“I-I just researched how expensive it was.”

Sasith said, turning his head away. That excuse, did I predict it?

    “Hmm….and what else?”

    I asked Miss Mishiko.

    “Ah….the JuJu makeup set…..including a princess dress.”

    Miss Mishiko said.

    Children’s cosmetics…..and clothing including a flowing dress.

    A whopping 70,000 yen.

“Kids’ toys these days are impressive…..I kind of want one myself.”

    Eri casually remarked.

“When I was living in the orphanage, I couldn’t even dream of toys like these….”

    Taiga muttered.

    “Is there anything else?”

I asked, swallowing hard. It was already 120,000 yen. We had gone way over budget long ago.

    “Well…….an AI-equipped doll for children….”

    Miss Mishiko continued apologetically.

“Come on!! That’s going too far!!”

I finally couldn’t hold back my objection.

“But….I had no choice….! Our kindergarten is losing students every year….!”

Miss Mishiko said, bursting into tears.

“The kindergarten next door has a lot of money and gives the children lots of toys! Some kids even transfer kindergartens just for the toys….! I lied to somehow boost their motivation for the competition!”

    Miss Mishiko explained.

    “I guess….I should properly apologize?”

    Miss Mishiko said.

“Yes. That would be the right thing to do.”

Telling the truth and apologizing was indeed the right course of action.

However, doing the right thing doesn’t always solve everything.

“Do you want to see the disappointed looks on the children’s faces?”

    I asked Miss Mishiko.

    “No!!”

Miss Mishiko shook her head vigorously while sitting on the ground. Unnecessarily cute. Is she really in her mid-30s? Such thoughts made my resolve weaken.

‘Honestly….I want to tell her to clean up her own mess…..’

But Mishiko was Sasith’s communication target. If we didn’t successfully complete this part-time job, the communication with Mishiko wouldn’t be achieved.

It can’t be helped. I needed to ensure Sasith quickly obtained a powerful psycho-robo.

    “Let’s lie.”

    That’s what I said.

    “Hey! At this point?”

Taiga spoke in a tone of disbelief.

“But let’s tell a magnificent lie. Will you leave this to me, Miss Mishiko?”

I looked straight at Miss Mishiko.

    “Um…..okay. I’ll trust you.”

Miss Mishiko nodded with tremendous vigor. Somehow….I seemed to have earned her trust.

“Sasith, Eri, Umi, Taiga, and Miss Mishiko…..”

    I immediately explained the plan.

After that, everyone began to move busily.

    ———-

About 15 minutes later, we all entered the classroom.

“What’s going on! Where’s the delivery?!”

The children shouted loudly. Among them was a child holding a toy chair like a weapon. No. Put that down.

“You want three prizes in total, right? There’s a rule about sharing them. But actually, you want to have them all to yourselves.”

    I said with a smile.

    “…….Well.”

The children’s eyes gleamed with desire. Everyone wants to have good toys all to themselves.

“There are three prizes in total. We’ll determine who gets the gifts through a game.”

    I smiled and sat cross-legged.

“Wait! Before that!! Where are the toys!! Show us those first!!”

One of the children shouted loudly.

    “Toys…..hahahahahahaha!!!!”

I immediately burst into hearty laughter.

    “……….”

The children looked at me, enveloped in an inexplicable sense of pressure. Creating the right atmosphere works surprisingly well.

“You want toys? I’ll give them to you.”

I deliberately tilted my head slightly to create shadows on my face as I spoke.

“Find them!!!!! I’ve placed everything in this kindergarten!!!! Whoever discovers them first becomes the owner of the toys!!!”

I immediately delivered my prepared lines.

    “……………”

At those words, the crowd fell silent.

Eri seemed to grow anxious in that silence.

    “See….I told you it wouldn’t work well…..!”

    Eri whispered to me.

    However, the reaction quickly reversed.

    “Waaaaaaaaaah!!!!”

    “Wooooooooh!!!”

The children immediately let out passionate cheers. People from other classrooms were peeking in to see what was happening.

    “It’s a treasure hunt!!!”

“Hurry and search!! They’re somewhere in this kindergarten!!!”

The children immediately began to search the entire kindergarten.

In preparation for this, I had instructed my companions to prepare something.

It was to place alphabet cards in English in random places, making them look as meaningful as possible.

“Here!! There’s a card!! A? What does it mean?”

    One child discovered a card.

“A…Apple!!! Maybe there’s something in the dining room where there are apples?!!”

“No!! It could be A for Apron!! There might be something on an apron….!!”

Although we had placed them without any particular meaning, the children began to follow clues by making their own interpretations.

Thanks to the treasure hunt, the children’s demands for toys immediately subsided.

“We’ve bought some time…..the rest is up to you, Miss Mishiko.”

    That’s what I said.

“But….what if they discover there’s nothing in the kindergarten?”

    Miss Mishiko asked.

“Just limit the treasure hunting time to one hour per day.”

I immediately came up with a clever idea. It was a common method used in gacha games. Creating something like a stamina system to limit daily gameplay time. That would slow down the rate of content consumption.

“But….eventually some children will become suspicious….”

    Mishiko hesitated.

“Talk to the principal. You can probably hold out for a few months. Within that time, you need to get toys or whatever. So that the children…don’t lose faith in adults.”

I looked straight at Miss Mishiko.

    “Yeah….you’re right.”

Finally, Miss Mishiko seemed to have strengthened her resolve.

“That’s right. To children….adults should be admirable figures. I’ll buy the toys even if I have to use part of my salary.”

    Miss Mishiko nodded and said.

Anyway, the treasure hunting competition concluded under Miss Mishiko’s guidance.

Afterward, at 3 PM, the teacher sent the children home. Going home at 3 PM….the life of a kindergartener is nice. I couldn’t help thinking that.

    Ding-!!

    Sasith’s chest began to glow.

“Sasith…did you achieve communication with Miss Mishiko?”

    I asked Sasith.

“Yeah. I think the intimacy level has maxed out.”

Sasith looked at me with slightly surprised eyes, then nodded.

    “Good. That’s all we needed.”

The major crisis has been averted. Now I need to help Sasith synthesize a psycho-robo later. That’s what I thought.

“But Shota….isn’t this method a bit problematic? It might work now….but later, the children will get tired of the treasure hunt too. What if they become unruly again?”

Taiga pondered and voiced a reasonable concern.

    “Well….not my problem.”

    I answered nonchalantly.

I had already accomplished the task of achieving Sasith’s communication. The English kindergarten was now outside my jurisdiction. The English kindergarten….was sacrificed for the sake of communication achievement.

    “Hehehe. Really….Shota, you’re garbage.”

    Umi said with a smirk.

    “Hahaha! Shota!!! That’s terrible!”

Taiga seemed unable to contain his laughter.

“Really….being so confidently trashy actually makes you likable.”

Sasith spoke in a tone of disbelief.

And so, I helped Sasith achieve his communication. Everything went smoothly.

Now…..if we just handle the June dungeon, June would pass peacefully.
