Ch.150Chapter 150

Yuria was getting a headache from all the work she had to do.

For humans, Demon Gods had always been mysterious beings. As a result, academic papers about them remained theoretical, with proper verification rarely achieved.

However, Yuria had two socialized Demon Gods right beside her. Who would believe that there were Demon Gods capable of getting along with humans? It seemed incredible.

Who would believe that two beings who were originally one could now be separated and actually bicker with each other? Probably no one would believe they even pulled each other’s hair when fighting.

As she faced these mysterious beings and grew closer to them, information naturally accumulated. She learned how Ourr behaved in certain situations, and how Ouro responded differently.

Though they might differ from other Demon Gods, they were still Demon Gods, which ultimately made them valuable research subjects.

Topics piled up quickly, and she gathered enough material to write about. She had collected so much that she couldn’t possibly write about everything before others did.

Since one couldn’t complete an academic paper instantly, she typically worked on several simultaneously. However, the amount of material she had gathered was now too much to handle concurrently.

Moreover, since her work involved directly observing Ourr and Ouro rather than just running the lab, she had to do everything herself, which would take more time.

As a result, Yuria had many topics collected but couldn’t properly write about most of them.

Still, just submitting what she had already written would be enough to surpass existing information about Demon Gods. That alone would make her name as a Demon God researcher.

Yuria calmed herself, deciding not to rush. She quietly smiled watching Ourr and Ouro.

    “Is it delicious?”

    “Yes, it’s delicious.”

    “Good.”

After returning home, Yuria bought pizza for Ouro. Unlike before, she was pleased to see them sharing one pizza well instead of demanding excessive amounts.

The more time they spent together, the more Ourr and Ouro learned and adapted, becoming more like ordinary people.

Yuria observed them closely while stroking their heads.

Ourr had learned to share, and Ouro had learned restraint. It was impressive considering they had stomachs that never seemed to fill no matter how much they ate.

Her smile formed naturally. Seeing it, Ourr grinned back as if wanting to share in her happiness. Yuria silently made a promise to herself:

She would work hard to ensure Ourr and Ouro could live proudly in society.

It might take time. It might only succeed much later. Fortunately, since Ourr and Ouro were Demon Gods unbound by normal lifespans, even if it took a long time, it wouldn’t be too late.

While it might take Yuria’s entire lifetime, for Ourr and Ouro, it would just be the beginning of their lives. That thought gave her comfort.

Since children always live in the generation after adults, what was there to worry about if she could create a society where the two could live well together?

Yuria quietly resolved to do everything she could from her position.

    **

During exam periods, I always end up with nothing to do.

Everyone’s busy studying, so the chat room notifications become sparse, with messages coming only before bedtime. Sometimes it’s just study files or summary notes piled up, making things boring and tedious.

Since everyone seemed ready for bed, I felt awkward starting conversations that might drag on.

When I took my hands off my phone, it lost its support and fell flat. Seeing that, I buried my face in the bed just like the phone had.

Ouro, lying next to me, turned her head, seemingly bothered by my movement.

    “What?”

    “…What, why?”

I frowned, wondering what she wanted to say. But Ouro just tilted her head without saying anything specific.

    How bland.

“Ourr is lucky to be smart.”

As I was about to turn away, realizing it was nothing, Ouro suddenly continued speaking.

I blinked at her unexpected comment, not knowing how to respond.

Whether Ouro had too much pride or just didn’t want to lose to me, she rarely said anything nice, so this felt like an ambush.

    “Suddenly?”

I asked why she said that so abruptly, but got no answer. Ouro seemed to regret speaking while avoiding my gaze, though she appeared to have meant what she said.

    “I’m not good at studying.”

“They say studying is a habit.”

“I can’t do it like that.”

Ouro expressed her gloom, apparently having hit a wall after studying for the past few days.

It was a secret I couldn’t tell, but unlike Ouro, I had already learned many things, so this difference was inevitable.

They say the mind follows the body, and it was unavoidable that I’d think like a Demon God, but the content I had already learned remained in my head.

The history, society, and magic of this world that I hadn’t learned before felt difficult.

“You’re the same as me, aren’t you?”

    “You’re the same as me.”

“Hmph, maybe I gave up the body first, and then you lived in it.”

    I snorted.

Since no one really knew the truth or could correct the information, there was no way to know who was right.

    So I lied outright.

When I suggested that neither of us knew who came first, Ouro flinched. Then she gave me a suspicious look, as if wondering if that could be true.

Ouro sent me a wavering gaze, unable to be certain.

Who came first? Honestly, that only mattered when we were having power struggles, not in everyday life.

“Well, if we existed simultaneously and only the dominance changed, it doesn’t really matter. I’m just saying that body is the same as mine, so what’s different? What are you worried about? We have plenty of time.”

I shrugged at Ouro. She stared at me quietly, then sat up. She looked down at me slightly.

I met her gaze, wondering what she was doing, when her hand landed on my head. I blinked repeatedly as I realized she was patting my head.

    “What are you doing…?”

“I’m giving you the same praise the Professor does.”

“Getting praise from you doesn’t feel special.”

    “I’ll do it anyway.”

Though I complained like I was throwing a tantrum, Ouro silently continued patting my head. Then she said quietly:

“Yes, like you said, we have plenty of time. We have far more time than others, so studying would be good, right?”

    “Yeah, that’s right.”

“But since I’m the biggest fool right now…”

Ouro narrowed her eyes and quietly extended her hand. My eyes widened at the atmosphere that seemed to flow around us.

    “What…?”

    “Tch, it didn’t work.”

“What were you trying to do?”

“I was trying to cast a memory spell.”

Ouro sniffled awkwardly and averted her gaze.

I didn’t know much about magic and thought we couldn’t use magic in these bodies. But Ouro moved her hands as if she could use magic even at this young age.

After feeling that sensation on my skin, I couldn’t conclude that magic was impossible at this physical age.

I opened my mouth wide, then fidgeted with my hands before hanging my head.

Could I use magic too? Was I allowed to?

Various complicated thoughts made my head spin. Then suddenly, thinking I might be able to do anything, I put my hands together.

    “Then I too…”

    “You can’t.”

    “…Why not?”

I expressed my dissatisfaction at her mocking voice. I glared at her, but Ouro shook her thumb as if asking why I was asking something so obvious.

“I use magic that’s not harmful to people because I received the Professor’s magical power, whereas you, with your original body, use unrefined Demon God magic.”

“…Ugh, so regardless of whether I can use it, I shouldn’t use it.”

    “That’s right.”

    That seemed unfair.

“Did you know this when you gave up the body to me?”

When I pointed at Ouro with my finger, she looked at the finger pointing at her. Her surprised eyes returned to normal after a single blink.

    “Who knows? I don’t remember.”

    “Eek! That’s cowardly!”

“If you knew, you should have done the opposite!”

When I lunged at her, Ouro fought back.

An untimely wrestling match broke out on the bed.

“What’s going on? Are you two fighting again?!”

The Professor, who had just entered, exclaimed in shock at the sight.
