Ch.150150. Unidentified Items
by fnovelpia
Several unidentified items I had hastily acquired before coming to the farm.
I placed them in the purification cauldron.
First, unidentified item #1.
Mirror of Chaos.
As I put the mirror in, it glowed and began purifying.
I had some small concerns about whether it would work, but fortunately, the Chaos Stone Purification Cauldron functioned properly.
It even gave me a small amount of purification energy experience.
The item also regained its original form.
[Purified Mirror of Truth]
– Grade: A
– Unknown energy has been purified, restoring it to its original form.
– The Mirror of Truth reveals information about its target.
“Doesn’t seem like anything special.”
I had high expectations, but the resulting item didn’t look as good as I thought.
The grade increased from B to A, which might be due to the purification energy effect, and I was secretly hoping for some decent options, but…
However, as I slowly read the item description again, it actually seemed quite good.
“Or is it? Could it sell well?”
The first use that came to mind was checking hunters’ abilities.
Instead of having to ask about and verify a hunter’s abilities, this mirror could provide accurate information with just one look.
I pointed the mirror at myself.
My Farming Window information appeared in a stream.
But even the Purified Mirror of Truth wasn’t omnipotent.
My information did appear in the Farming Window, but all information related to the Rift Dimension was broken, with blurred text.
Things like the Farming Window itself.
Or information about SSS+ grade abilities.
What was visible was just level, stats—things you’d see in any ordinary hunter’s status window.
I tried looking at Kim Soo-jung as well, but it was the same for her. Perhaps because she’s now a resident of the farm, all information related to the Rift Dimension was hidden in her status window too.
“Is it because it’s buried on Earth?”
In the end, although this item came from a dungeon, I wondered if it signified a gap between Earth’s dungeons and Rift Dimension items.
It might be natural that a lower-dimension item would struggle to reveal information related to a higher dimension.
Still, apart from that limitation, this seemed like something the Hunter Association would quite appreciate.
They would no longer need to ask hunters to reveal their status windows to prove their abilities during registration.
Some hunters might not want to disclose things other than their abilities, but that’s for the buyer to figure out.
Besides, there’s no guarantee the Hunter Association would be able to purchase this item anyway.
“It should fetch a high price.”
After considering various aspects, I thought it was definitely worthy of an auction.
I briefly had the fictional thought that it could be quite useful if it fell into the hands of dark forces, but as long as they pay well for it, it’s not like I’d be using it to assassinate people.
I was pleased that the first unidentified item turned out to be quite decent.
I put the next items into the cauldron all at once.
Various items emerged purified, and most of them, like the [Purified Mirror of Truth], weren’t common item types but artifacts with special effects.
Most seemed to be items with specialized uses.
That made the process more exciting in its own way.
[Purified Portable Storage]
– Grade: B+
– Unknown energy has been purified, restoring it to its original form.
– A small storage space. Seems capable of holding quite a lot.
– Made with dimensions of 50 x 8.
– Reduces weight of stored items by 30%.
There were things like this mini-inventory you could carry around.
Magic backpacks that increase storage capacity are easily available on the market, but inventory-type storage containers like this are extremely rare in reality, unlike in the Farming World, so it could be sold at a high price.
Of course, compared to the items I usually put up for auction, this was just one of many miscellaneous items.
I organized the many surprisingly useful items that emerged.
The decent ones could be sold through regular auctions, if not VIP auctions.
Plus, these were just items I had hastily acquired as a temporary measure.
The kind of personal trade listings you see on the Hunter Association website.
Items abandoned and ignored even by collectors because they seemed worthless at first glance.
Of course, since they were unidentified, no one could judge what was good or bad based on appearance alone, but most were low-grade, so it was inevitable that there wouldn’t be any jackpots among the dozen or so unidentified items.
“This is the last one.”
The final item, a fan.
I had purchased this right before logging in, and since it was already A-grade as an unidentified item, I had paid quite a bit for it.
The price was 50 million won.
[Fan of Chaos]
– A fan containing unknown energy. Purifying it might reveal special effects.
– Seems to contain a special power.
It just had one additional line.
A fan that seems to contain a special power.
Not that it contains a special power, but that it seems to? What’s that supposed to mean?
I wondered, but apparently many others had the same thought.
After changing hands multiple times, this Fan of Chaos, which traded at quite a high price just because of that one line suggesting it might contain a special power, eventually made its way to me.
The hunter selling it was an A-rank hunter, quite high-ranked, and he couldn’t hide his regret when selling it to me.
“Ah, I bought this for 200 million, but I really need cash right now. If I only knew how to purify it, this would be a jackpot item…”
He was saying such nonsense to set the mood, so I responded:
“Are you not selling it then?”
“I have to. You brought cash, right? This could easily resell for 200 million.”
“Then why not sell it for 200 million…”
“Could you possibly do 70 million?”
“Just leave. This is a disgusting way to do business.”
“Wait, wait. It’s just that this item really has value. You know unidentified items usually just say they contain unknown energy, right? Even A-grade unidentified items usually go for 20-30 million among collectors. But this one has an extra line…”
“Then sell it to them.”
“Come on. I really got the wrong buyer. Someone who doesn’t understand its value… But I need the money… Let’s just do the deal.”
For me, who was buying these items on the premise that unidentified items contain chaotic energy and can only be purified with the Chaos Stone Purification Cauldron here, such meaningless talk had no impact.
What good are extra lines of description if you can’t purify it?
If you can’t purify it, whether you bought it for 200 or 300 million, you’d just spend your life regretting not buying stocks with that money instead, while consoling yourself by staring at it.
Actually, from my perspective, high-grade unidentified items could be jackpots if the purification cauldron’s energy works properly, even if the options aren’t great, so I could have paid a bit more. But the seller was so annoying that I only paid 50 million won for it.
The fan did look somewhat grimy and worn, but the drawings on it seemed quite elegant, so I had some expectations.
That’s why I saved it for last.
“Let’s see… Oh!”
The purified fan looked quite dignified.
With the grime removed, it had a glossy, radiant sheen, and when fully opened, each panel combined to create a complete picture.
The artistic style of the images drawn on both sides made it feel as if a famous artist had poured their life into it.
*Swoosh*
The fully opened fan spread into a semicircle large enough to cover my face.
*Flutter*
As I lightly flicked it, the fan fluttered with a refreshing sound.
And then.
[Blinds nearby enemies for 10 seconds.]
“…What?”
Surprised by the system message that appeared from my casual flick, I checked the item.
[Purified Five Senses Fan]
– Grade: S+
– An illusionist who controlled human senses imbued this fan with their power. They sacrificed their soul to enhance their power and sealed all their strength within.
– Consumes 100 mana to randomly disable one of the five senses of enemies within a 100M radius for 10 seconds.
– Due to purification energy effect, enemies with disabled senses have a 50% chance of suffering a status ailment related to the disabled sense for 30 seconds.
– Due to purification energy effect, can consume an additional 100 mana to randomly disable one of the five senses of enemies within a 100M radius for 10 seconds. If the same sense is disabled, the duration increases to 60 seconds, and a related status ailment is applied with 100% probability for an additional 60 seconds.
An artifact.
This was the epitome of an artifact—an item that was itself a complete ability.
