Ch.148148. Repulsion
by fnovelpia
The weapons currently worn by Teresia’s Gold Zero were the ones she was most familiar with.
The multi-barrel plasma gatling gun, which covers her entire left arm, is a weapon that fires plasma shells in succession as six plasma cannons rotate.
It emits 720 plasma bursts per minute—six times that of a standard plasma gatling gun. Anyone who approaches carelessly would be instantly shredded in its field of fire.
Meanwhile, the weapon mounted on her right arm is a three-fingered plasma weapon similar in form to the arm of a Monster■buster version Mecha■zilla, known as a multi-purpose plasma gauntlet.
Almost half the thickness of her torso, with energy supply lines directly connected to the main body from behind, this weapon enables various attacks by rotating the wrist.
It can deliver a powerful close-range strike befitting its name as a gauntlet, releasing plasma in a single burst, or perform consecutive attacks by rotating plasma around it like a drill.
It can stabilize energy drawn from the plasma emitter in the palm using its fingers to spew a massive plasma light sphere, fire plasma beams from the palm, or simply grab something and release plasma from the palm to electrocute it with ultra-high voltage current—truly living up to its “multi-purpose” designation.
And with both these weapons equipped on a single unit…
TUDUDUDUDUDUDUDU───!!!!
WOOONG───KWAAAAAANG!!! WOOONG───KWAAAAAANG!!!
At this moment, the Angel couldn’t even think of counterattacking and had to focus solely on defense and evasion.
Precision fire that seemed impossible from such a bulky frame poured from the multi-barrel plasma gatling gun, and while focusing on dodging it, attacks from the multi-purpose plasma gauntlet would suddenly come from unexpected angles.
Even though taking a few hundred hits wouldn’t be a problem, the various auxiliary weapons mounted on her body—such as space-specific missiles or laser machine guns—were flying with unbelievable precision───
At least for now, she could barely respond to the incoming attacks by utilizing the ring-shaped auxiliary armament of light floating behind her back.
She scattered photons around to somehow reduce the power of plasma beams or bullets and twist their trajectories, formed light spheres to intercept incoming missiles, and continued defending.
She was attempting counterattacks with her few remaining feathers, but Gold Zero effortlessly blocked them by concentrating its protective shields.
This was truly a life-or-death crisis—her record of zero deaths might be broken, and beyond that, her connection to the Hive Mind could be severed.
If she were killed by Gold Zero’s close-combat weapon, the special psychic sword using a Psychic Knight, even her psychic connection might be cut, preventing her soul from being recovered.
Yet despite this, the Angel wasn’t intimidated at all.
Partly because she was certain that “absolutely” nothing like that would happen to her, but more because she was confident she could handle these attacks.
Above all, the additional armament that had just arrived for the Angel from across the galaxy was giving her infinite confidence.
Mother, why did you send something like that again…
Meanwhile, Teresia, who had been watching the Angel handle the attacks with flexible responses, frowned at the new additional armament the Angel had summoned.
The Angel’s new additional armament was centered around a pure white mythril halo that encircled the ring of light floating behind her back.
On her back was a large metal backpack with twelve auxiliary arms, connected to the halo by pipe-like wires that transmitted photons.
These photons not only powered the backpack’s jet function for rapid flight but also allowed the auxiliary arms to fire golden beams.
Though somewhat bizarre in appearance, it was undoubtedly an additional armament that could bring the Angel’s combat power to a level that could match Teresia’s Gold Zero.
…Mobilize.
Seeing the auxiliary arms’ beams shooting down plasma shells from the multi-barrel plasma gatling gun, Teresia sighed and switched weapons.
Her new weapons were dual single-handed swords with golden high-pressure plasma emanating from their blades, one in each hand, along with six floating automatic defense shields.
First, the swords in both hands. Including the plasma blades, they were about 6 meters long, operating on the same principle as industrial plasma cutters—cutting through matter by firing high-pressure plasma.
However, with psychic energy mixed into the plasma, their power was on a completely different level from ordinary plasma swords. Even without the blade, the 5-meter chunk of mythril and orichalcum was a formidable weapon in itself.
The automatic defense shields floating around Gold Zero consisted of orichalcum discs surrounded by three layers of orichalcum rings, with quite an elegant appearance.
In the center was a red psychic crystal engraved with psychic circuits, and the orichalcum disc and rings were also engraved with intricate and delicate psychic circuits.
The discs were about 50cm in radius, directly linked to Teresia, Gold Zero’s pilot, and could deploy protective barriers to defend against incoming attacks.
Having instantly switched to weapons that completely countered the Angel, Teresia blocked the incoming beams with her discs and charged forward, and thus the Angel and Teresia exchanged numerous attacks.
The Angel adopted an offensive strategy using beams from her auxiliary arms and psychic blades on both arms, while Teresia-Gold Zero maintained appropriate distance by blocking long-range attacks with her discs and swinging her swords.
But inevitably, as time passed, the Angel began to be gradually cornered.
Due to her size, the Angel had to completely avoid attacks, as even one direct hit would mean certain partial destruction at minimum.
So when there was a brief pause in the attacks, the Angel quickly withdrew from the battlefield. On the surface, the battle in this planetary system ended with Teresia’s Royal Guard, but…
The offensive of the “Doomsday” was too massive for Teresia and her group to turn the tide alone.
※ ※ ※
The achievements of Teresia’s direct fleet, which saved various planetary systems while receiving only minimal supplies, were certainly brilliant.
51 planetary systems and 34 civilizations were saved by Teresia’s hand, and they sank hundreds of monster capital ships (vessels exceeding 10km in size).
But the Doomsday offensive was too large and widespread despite these efforts, so the limit of Teresia’s direct Royal Guard was at best protecting the areas they had already defended.
Thus, the monsters’ advance, now free from further interference, swept through all the small civilizations in the defense line area before changing direction to invade one of the highest alien civilizations—Ratasino.
Ratasino. This race, quite rare in the galaxy for their metallic bodies, possesses exceptional combat power with their approximately 4-meter height and mechanically composed bodies.
Despite starting later than most civilizations, they rose to become a high civilization surpassing the average, possessing a total of 53 planetary systems.
Perhaps due to their mechanical bodies, they prefer using bipedal or quadrupedal combat machines rather than wheels, making them quite capable of fighting large monsters.
Additionally, their minds are close to programs, allowing them to integrate with ships and control them as if moving their own bodies—they aren’t considered a high civilization for nothing.
But no matter how powerful this civilization was, the invasion of monsters that could digest even metal was one of the most difficult enemies to repel.
The “Doomsday” dispatch fleet shattered planetary shield barriers and released so many monsters that even anti-air defense systems couldn’t shoot them all down. From there, they established production facilities on the planets to form strongholds and began entrenching themselves.
And once a monster settlement was fully established, there was no way to reverse it.
Everyone knows that trying to win against monsters in pure attrition warfare without strategic weapons like nuclear arms is foolish.
The stages of monster invasion are common knowledge at this point.
