Ch.147″Heh heh heh, that guy is the weakest among our rankers.” (3)

Meanwhile, at the exact moment Icarus was seriously contemplating his outcast status.

-[There’s a chat room for solo players, and I’ve never seen you talking there](Indefatigable)
-[Yeah](Laura)

“No way, he couldn’t possibly not know…”
Indefatigable, the 7th ranked player who most people called by his nickname “Golden Sun” because his full name was too long, was looking at Icarus with disbelief as he kept sending question marks.
It made sense to be surprised. After all, Icarus was ranked 3rd.
To see someone who was essentially the top player among those not affiliated with clans just sending question marks like this…
But after thinking about it, Indefatigable finally realized the “truth” behind those question marks.
“Oh, he’s just messing around.”
Upon this realization, Golden Sun Indi thought Icarus had a much better sense of humor than he’d initially assumed.
And the other rankers felt the same way.
=========
“…?”
Laura, ranked 5th—though effectively 4th—served as the right hand of “Arcadia.”
She handled external affairs as a professional problem solver for the Justice Clan led by Arcadia, receiving resources from them in return.
Like the others, she was equally puzzled by Icarus’s barrage of question marks.
“Isn’t it normal for rankers to receive sponsorships from clans without actually joining them…?”
The world was full of loopholes.
Rather than directly joining a clan and risking becoming a target for other factions or clans, wasn’t it better to be treated as external elite personnel for a powerful clan, quietly receiving resources in return?
That’s why Laura suspected that Icarus might be pretending not to be affiliated with any clan while secretly telling convenient lies.
After all, anyone capable of becoming a ranker would surely have spent time in community forums gathering information.
And if they had properly engaged with the community, this was information they couldn’t possibly have missed.
==========
Menaldu, ranked 10th, had similar thoughts, but…
“Well, I guess he might not know.”
Being straightforwardly simple-minded in odd ways, Menaldu thoughtlessly sent Icarus a link to the bizarrely named “Super Solo Room for Solo Players.”
And the next morning…

-[Thank you…](Icarus)

<Commander Icarus is requesting a trade with you!>
<Icarus ⇒ Menaldu>
<Minerals 10,000, Rare Resources 1,000>

“Wow!”
Menaldu accepted the gift of gratitude from Icarus, adding a bit more prosperity to his resource storage.
==========
After receiving the “Solo Player Room” link from Menaldu, I learned various thrifty methods:
Taking outsourced work from large clans to earn resources.
Beating up weaker users around me, letting them barely survive, and then periodically looting them.
Or conversely, protecting nearby weaker users in exchange for “protection fees.”
Tips on how to receive additional “resource” quests from factions.
How to get bonus resources from certain quests, and so on.
Thanks to these hermit experts who precisely pinpointed exactly what I needed to know, I thought I could manage well enough without joining a clan for the time being.
Of course, the source of that confidence was…
“It looks beautiful as always.”
“R-really?”
As Princess Luca eloquently put it, after suffering damage “like getting hit by a rock in my chest fat” and being hospitalized for a week, I took the opportunity to let Griyanar perform her fun and delightful biological part modifications (containing 55% unaffiliated pirate components).
As a result, my precious little Kraken-class ship somehow returned with its main bio-plasma cannon muzzle looking even more massive than before.
Although until now, no matter how well I fought, as Betelgeuse had half-praised, half-mocked me before, most of my fleet consisted of low-grade regular ships.
If I had faced a proper user fleet, I would have surely melted away…
But now, in one-on-one battles with user fleets—what they call “small-scale fleet battles”—our Kraken could finally shine.
I was increasingly thinking that the “beating up nearby players” mentioned in the solo player room might now be possible, whereas it wouldn’t have been before.
But as I mentioned earlier, users had recently started piloting light carriers or “cruiser battleships” as their personal vehicles, as seen throughout the gallery.
So I couldn’t let my guard down. Using information about nearby “commanders” gathered by Marian’s pirate friends as they spread out and regrouped, I decided to search those nicknames in the gallery to check their combat capabilities.
Additionally, I wanted to find out the “exact” military strength of other users…
So I opened the community to learn about their military power.
About an hour after opening the gallery and starting to assess the situation:
‘Huh, they’re stronger than I thought.’
Contrary to my hopeful thinking, users’ military power was stronger than expected.

Don’t like small talk? I’ll get straight to the point.
Now practically 40%, no, about half of all users have built level 6 bases or higher
And 10% of all users have gone beyond level 6 to build level 7 bases
And they’re not just building them—they’ve started constructing and operating super-large capital ships like carriers and battleships
Unless you’re like that old guy who stole and rides an NPC’s ship, this is roughly the situation
Comments:
-[Wow, everyone’s growing up so fast]
-[There are already people operating carriers and battleships?]
-˪[Yeah, though even with all the Fast Build bonuses accumulated so far, due to physical time constraints, most have just one ship and have only just started leveling it.](Author)
-[Not easy, some of us just reached level 6 and started building cruiser battleships]
-[How the hell did they do it?]
—————————————-
‘What? 40% are at the same level as me?’
Seeing the post claiming that not just 1% but 10% were ahead of me, I couldn’t hide my shock.
After thinking about it for a moment, I realized this actually made sense.
Most users were luckier than me.
They had SSS-class superhumans and ships galore, and had started snowballing much earlier than I had.
Compared to me, who had twisted my body playing the game with just one Overseer and 3-4 superhumans…
There was no comparison to be made—the difference was so extreme that they should be embarrassed to be compared to me.
Moreover, that wasn’t the only important issue…
