About a week later.

    <Base Fleet Points 470 ⇒ 550>

    ‘Finally.’

    After confirming that the fleet points had finally exceeded 500.

    I opened the menu for the <Large Ship Exclusive Shipyard> that I had built but hadn’t been able to use even once, with only dust settling on it.

    <None>

    <Currently Constructible Ship Classes: Battlecruiser, Light Aircraft Carrier>

    —————————————-

    ‘Hmm.’

    But when I actually confirmed the “constructible ship classes” with my own eyes.

    Even though I had a flashy and impressive ship like a “Assault Combat Carrier.”

    The large ship shipyard couldn’t build an “aircraft carrier.”

    Despite knowing this since three years ago… no, four years ago now, I couldn’t help feeling disappointed.

    ‘Why can’t I build one when I already have an awesome large carrier?!’

    Of course, that’s how the game was designed from the beginning.

    And in reality, “owning” a ship and being able to “build” one were completely different matters.

    I felt irritation welling up inside me at how the game was being realistic in such a useless area.

    Separately from that, I personally wanted to tighten my belt, save as many resources as possible.

    And raise the base to level 7 to get a battleship or aircraft carrier.

    But as I had confirmed in the gallery a week ago, users were now starting to roll out “large ships” as casually as buying cars.

    In this situation, apart from the Kraken and the now-peaceful Overseer (which was in the final stages of having its modifications removed).

    Competing against users who had entered the large ship construction race with just the Kanheul-class “light cruiser” and Azkran-class “destroyer” I had purchased from the event shop?

    If the Kraken took a proper hit and suffered moderate or greater damage requiring long-term docking.

    Even though the Overseer’s firepower could rival a “battleship” in its original state.

    It was essentially just a “medium cruiser” at best, making it extremely difficult to go against ships of higher class.

    Whether I liked it or not, for our fleet to survive, we needed to build at least one battlecruiser at this point.

    “Commander, you don’t need to make such elaborate excuses.”

    “Be quiet, Jessica.”

    Anyway, after organizing my thoughts, I decided to break ground on our fleet’s first battlecruiser, which would become the backbone of our fleet.

    <Battlecruiser Under Construction…>

    <Time Remaining: 4 days 12 hours 4 minutes 8 seconds>

    <Resources Consumed: Minerals 15,500, Rare Resources 3,700>

    —————————————-

    ‘Takes a damn long time.’

    As I watched the giant cranes of the shipyard visible through the command center window.

    And the numerous unmanned drones installed inside the shipyard beginning to lay the keel of the first battlecruiser.

    I realized that a massive ship that would have taken months to build in reality would be completed in just 5 days.

    It made me think anew how impressive the production capacity was in this SF world.

    ==========

    After ordering the construction of the first battlecruiser.

    I was assessing the situation inside the base, wondering what to do next.

    Of course, I wasn’t doing this in an unseemly way by personally going around to check everything.

    “Jessica, what’s the current fleet status?”

    “As you instructed, most of the old standard ships are in the process of being dismantled.”

    Instead, I was sitting calmly in the command seat, listening to Jessica’s composed briefing using holograms.

    “And the Overseer has dismantled and returned most of the equipment that was haphazardly installed, and Griyanar is in the process of recovering the organic components she installed in the bridge and radar systems.”

    “Hmm.”

    “Oh, and most of the resources obtained from dismantling ships are being reinvested to reproduce the Kraken’s carrier-based aircraft that were all destroyed last time.”

    “…How much is that costing?”

    “Since each aircraft costs about 10 minerals and 1 rare resource… considering about 2,000 were destroyed, that’s at least 20,000 minerals and 2,000 rare resources.”

    “Ugh.”

    Hearing such painful information in the midst of all this, I couldn’t help but let out a groan.

    But whether I liked it or not, this was something we would continue to face for the Kraken’s leveling process.

    So I shook my head and resigned myself to accepting this sad reality.

    “So let’s see… what’s our daily resource income now?”

    “The base itself produces 3,000 minerals and 150 rare resources, and from resource mining and forced labor camps, we get about 12,000 minerals and 2,000 rare resources.”

    But no matter what, the “resource supply” situation was too dire to just watch.

    “Sigh, should I finally join any clan?”

    “I think that might be necessary?”

    Due to this game’s strange management simulation aspects.

    Living alone as a solo user created problems in the “resource supply” area.

    Of course, right now I had been developing steadily and accumulating ships and resources over the years.

    So I had enough leeway to build one battlecruiser.

    But what if we got into a battle here, ships got destroyed, and I had to reproduce them?

    From that point on, solo users like me would be forced to experience what it truly means to be bled dry.

    Personally, because I had experienced some terrible clan-related incidents in past games.

    I had negative feelings about clan membership and had been rejecting all clan invitations until now…

    But as I could see from the tip post I found when searching about resource supply in the gallery after hearing Jessica’s words:

    Title: There’s a lot of talk about clans these days, but joining a clan is still recommended

    Author: Anonymous

    Content: [Clan Explanation]

    When I say joining a clan is good, I’m not saying you need to kiss ass.

    Because when you play the game and get into a battle with others, right?

    You might not feel it at first, but in the late game, you’ll be shocked at the resources consumed just from one battle.

    Did you know that just scratching large ships costs about the same as building a patrol ship to repair?

    And if you get light damage, it costs the same as building a decent light cruiser to repair.

    And with heavy damage, you’ll seriously consider just building a new one.

    But at this point, everyone knows that the construction costs for large ships are no joke, right?

    An individual user’s resource mining, even combined with base production, is around 15,000-20,000 minerals.

    Even the cheapest large ship, a battlecruiser, consumes at least 15,000 minerals.

    But can a user use 100% of the mined resources?

    What about fleet maintenance costs?

    Repair costs?

    At best, you’ll have to wait at least 2 days to gather resources for one battlecruiser.

    In this situation, if your large ships get destroyed in a large-scale battle?

    No matter how many resources you’ve stockpiled, there’s a limit to what an individual can gather.

    If the enemy pushes in for one more fight, your resources are gone.

    Even if you’re lucky enough to fight one more time, you won’t be fighting the enemy.

    You’ll be begging the enemy to accept your surrender to ward off the hyena-like users waiting to pounce after the battle.

    Otherwise, most of your fleet will be stuck in your base, relying on auto-repair (which takes forever) for months.

    While other users loot your resource zones and raid your base, and you’ll just have to watch helplessly.

    But clans are different.

    Because clan members get resource production buffs from the clan itself.

    And if the clan leadership occupies resource zones, they can acquire additional resources through that too.

    And if you’re in danger, the clan can provide resource support.

    The resource production buff might seem insignificant, but it makes a difference of thousands in daily resource production.
