Ch.142Epilogue 3. There’s No Way I Could Raise a Hero’s Daughter (2)
by fnovelpia
“Everyone out of the way! Young Vengeance’s Soli is coming through!”
Sparks flew across the eight-lane road. The highway was a mess, filled with overturned cars smashed into the barriers.
Between them, Soli in his yellow suit accelerated smoothly through the chaos. His target was the large trailer truck ahead.
I was transformed into my dragon form. I followed behind Soli, running at a leisurely pace as if taking a stroll.
“Damn, it’s the Vengeance crew!”
“Open fire on all of them!”
Masked thugs opened the back door of the trailer and fired grenade launchers without hesitation. Laser rounds burst out in rapid succession.
“Whoa! So slow, so slow! Are you playing badminton? Trying to hit the great Soli with just that? You’ve really sold your conscience—ouch!”
Soli took a hit to his arm. As he tumbled across the ground, I grabbed him by the scruff of his neck and pulled him up while running.
“Ow ow ow, thanks Dad.”
“I told you not to let your guard down.”
“Come on, they’re not even ability users, what’s the big deal?”
“You wouldn’t have been hit if you hadn’t been running your mouth.”
“It’s called character building! As the leader of Young Vengeance, I need to leave a strong impression!”
Soli snapped his fingers and flashed a bright smile from behind his goggles. He’s my son, but he’s really handsome. Well, he’s also Lua’s son, so that makes sense.
—Who’s the leader? That position is mine!
BOOM! A powered suit dropped from the sky onto the trailer. The truck, which had been speeding at 200 km/h, flipped 180 degrees starting from the back of the trailer.
“Oh crap!”
“S-save us!”
The overturned truck scraped along the road roof-first, sending up sparks. It gradually slowed to a stop.
“That’s totally cheating! I’m going to ask Boksil for one of those too.”
“Boksil doesn’t give weapons to just anyone.”
The powered suit roughly tore off the truck door. The battered thugs rushed out in a final desperate attempt.
“Damn it! If that’s how it’s going to be, I’ll take you all with me!”
One of the thugs was about to press a self-destruct switch. The pilot of the powered suit walked out and waved her fingers in the air a few times.
“You, be quiet. You, get down on the ground. You, lick his butt.”
As she commanded, the thugs’ eyes glazed over and they obediently followed her orders.
White suit with a black ponytail.
It was my eldest daughter, Stella.
Soli may be her older brother, but Stella gets extremely angry if you call her the second child, so I won’t mention it.
Stella approached us with a confident smile.
“How about that, Soli? Today’s achievement is mine again. Feels like I’m one step closer to winning the leader election, doesn’t it?”
“I could do that too if Boksil gave me weapons! Stop cheating!”
“What would you do with them anyway? You’d just break everything while running around. Right, Dad?”
I put both of them on my shoulders, not wanting to take sides since retaliation would come from whichever side I didn’t support. They’re seventeen but small in stature, taking after their mother.
Especially Stella, who’s a complete carbon copy of Lua when I first met her, which sometimes startles me.
“What the heck, is the hero takedown already over? You two always eat all the good stuff.”
“The Lord is playing favorites.”
Riot Hook and Slider arrived late, complaining. They’re both members of Young Vengeance, like Soli and Stella.
“I don’t play favorites. These two are just impatient.”
“Hmph. Our dad says you always favored your wives.”
“That Kang Wan bastard.”
“Going to arrest the hero now.”
Slider smoothly glided over to the thugs and handcuffed them. He’s quiet but gets the job done.
“That makes twenty hero takedowns already! Isn’t that a new record just two months after starting high school?”
Soli excitedly bounced his shoulders. The twins attend the Villain Academy high school division.
“The academy is boring. I prefer learning from Dad. Can’t you teach me like when I was little?”
Stella wrapped her arm around my head and rested her chin on top.
“No. You need to follow the curriculum properly.”
“What’s the point when my dad is the Lord of Evil? The academy is boring. Can’t I just debut as a villain right away?”
“We agreed to call that the privilege of the social elite. It can’t happen because it would cause public backlash.”
“You’re so strict, Dad! Well, I’m super popular with girls so it doesn’t matter!”
I turned to look at Soli.
“You’re popular?”
“Of course! I’m strong, I get good grades, Dad’s rich, and I’m handsome. What girl wouldn’t like me?”
“Girlfriend?”
“I should have more than you, right? I have six right now. And I’m talking to three more…”
SPLAT.
I threw Soli to the ground.
“Ow, what was that for!”
“You pissed me off. Hey, I didn’t live as promiscuously as you.”
“What are you talking about? You have three wives! And I truly love all my girls!”
“Keep that up and you’ll lose your left arm. I only ended up like this by accident. At first, it was just Somi…”
“Man, you’re such an amateur.”
Soli slickly darted back and forth in front of me with a smug expression.
“Having three women makes me the bad guy. But when you have more than ten? Then the women fight among themselves. I just watch the drama from across the river.”
“You’re garbage. Go kiss the asphalt.”
“Hey, don’t use your ability on me! Bleurgh.”
Under Stella’s mental manipulation, Soli planted his lips on the ground and started vomiting.
I turned to Stella with concern.
“Does Stella have a boyfriend too?”
Stella looked at me with a devilish smile.
What is it?
Don’t do that.
“What do you think, Daddy? How would you feel if another man put his hands on your beloved daughter?”
“I’d kill him.”
“Eek! Then are you going to take responsibility for me forever? Hmm?”
Stella slapped my head playfully and giggled.
Though she looks exactly like Lua, she has quite a mischievous personality from somewhere.
“Hmph. I’m a young woman in my prime. I’m actively recruiting a boyfriend.”
“Stella, my insides are twisting. I feel like I’m going to vomit blood.”
“Haha! Listen to this. But I’m very picky about my ideal type. Want to know what my condition is?”
Stella brought her lips to my ear and whispered.
“Someone stronger than Dad.”
Hmm.
I see.
“So, do you think I can get a boyfriend?”
“You’ll be single forever, kid.”
Stella burst into laughter at my words.
“Then will you take responsibility for me? You don’t even age, so it’s fine. Your sense of style is a bit old-fashioned, but I can fix that.”
Stella gently stroked my chin. Then suddenly she screamed.
“Ow ow ow!”
“What do you mean ‘fix’ Geo? Have you been watching those weird dramas again?”
Lua had appeared out of nowhere and was pulling Stella’s ear. She quickly pulled Stella away and slapped her back repeatedly.
“I can’t take my eyes off you for a second. Geo, I told you not to play along with their jokes—it makes them misbehave. Why is Soli lying there?”
Lua lifted Soli, who was stuck to the ground with dark matter.
“You need to go to the academy tomorrow, so go home, wash up, and go to bed early.”
“It’s only six o’clock! Why would I go to bed now? I promised to go to karaoke with my friends!”
“Where do you get the nerve to talk back to your mother like that? Tsk.”
When Lua threatened her, Stella immediately became submissive and pouted.
Hmm. Lua has become an excellent mother.
“Go inside when I tell you to. Listen, okay?”
Lua activated her quantum field. In an instant, Soli and Stella disappeared into it. She must have forcibly sent them home.
Afterward, Lua wrapped herself around me.
“Geo is already busy taking responsibility for me, right?”
“Of course.”
When I gave Lua a light kiss, she smiled broadly, clearly pleased. Maybe it’s hormonal changes. Lua has become more assertive since her 30s.
“Thanks for watching the kids today too.”
“They’re at the age where they’re eager to work as villains, so I need to keep an eye on them. Can’t let them get into trouble.”
It’s been almost 20 years since I took over the world. Naturally, in this world, the meanings of villain and hero, evil and justice, have been reversed.
Though the structure is a bit different. When we’re evil, we’re truly evil.
“When are you coming home, Geo?”
“I don’t have any more work after this.”
“Shall we go now then?”
Lua wrapped her arms around the back of my neck and pressed her body closer. I could feel her breath.
“I can see everything!”
It was Stella’s voice. Lua whipped her head around. Apparently, Stella had used her mental manipulation to make us think she had disappeared.
She’s already so skilled with her ability.
“I told you not to use your ability on your mother! Or your father!”
“Then you shouldn’t use yours either!”
Stella stuck out her tongue and disappeared in a flash. The twins really are in sync at times like this.
“Oh, by the way, Stella.”
“Yes, Dad?”
She reappeared with a flash when I called. She always listens to me well.
“How is Ra-hee doing at the academy?”
“Ra-hee?”
Stella and Soli looked at each other and shrugged.
“We don’t really know.”
“Ra-hee is in middle school.”
“There’s a three-year age gap.”
“We don’t run into each other.”
I guess that makes sense.
“Alright. You can go now.”
“Okay!”
The two disappeared with a flash. Lua shook her head.
Somehow, I felt like it had been a while since I’d seen Lena or Ra-hee.
That’s when I got a phone call.
“This is Gerogius.”
—Geo, what? Don’t joke around. This is the police station.
“What?”
—Are you the guardian of Jung Ra-hee?
What is it?
What’s going on?
***
I immediately rushed to the police station. I told Lua to wait at home and stormed in with three direct subordinate villains as escorts.
“I am Gerogius. I’m here as Jung Ra-hee’s guardian.”
“Gasp!”
“I-it’s really him in person?!”
“S-sorry, we didn’t think it would actually be you…”
The police officers were shocked to see me, practically foaming at the mouth.
“Where is my daughter?”
The officers timidly pointed to the waiting area. I headed there.
Ra-hee was sitting on a long wooden bench, squeezed between two completely drunk men who had been intoxicated since early evening.
“Ugh, seriously? This is so embarrassing.”
Bleached blonde hair, all sorts of cute hairpins stuck in it, heavy makeup, a modified and unbuttoned school uniform, accessories larger than her phone, flashy blue nails.
There sat my second daughter, Ra-hee, looking up at me with weary eyes, expressing nothing but contempt.
