    Ch.137Side Story 7. Sulphur’s Confession

‘What do you mean by Sulphur and Georgius’s relationship?’

Kang Yerin tried to understand what Sulphur meant by his question.

She had expected some kind of agreement between them, but was that not the case?

    “Let’s move somewhere else.”

“Let’s talk here. Yerin needs to hear this too.”

“That’s why. If she hears more, I’ll have to eliminate her. No, it’s already too late.”

From Kang Yerin’s perspective, the state of these two was definitely not normal.

The supreme leader of evil who ruled the world and the hero who stood directly opposite him were conspiring together so peacefully.

If the press saw this, they would make headlines.

“Don’t think you can do whatever you want, Georgius.”

    “But I can?”

    “I can’t, can I?”

“If you quit your role, the contract will simply be terminated. Do you want to go back to being enemies?”

Jung Ui-seok approached Sulphur, intimidating him with his large frame. But Sulphur stood his ground.

“Go ahead and try. I’ve been curious about who would win. It’s been a year, hasn’t it? Do you think I’ve just been playing around comfortably like you?”

    “You’re being hostile.”

    “I’m a bit tired.”

Sulphur glared at Jung Ui-seok with a cold expression. Eventually, Jung Ui-seok took a step back and avoided his gaze.

“Was my marriage so displeasing to you?”

That word touched Sulphur’s sore spot. Sulphur stomped his foot in anger.

“Yes! You bastard. You could have at least given me a heads-up even if you couldn’t send an invitation! Did you want me to terrorize your wedding venue?”

Sulphur growled and gritted his teeth.

“I’m just an accessory anyway. Georgius, I’m just one of the parts you use to run the world. I’m an emotional woman, so I’m easy to use, and if I break, you can just throw me away.”

    “You understand your position accurately.”

“Is that all there is to our relationship? Tell me now so we can settle this.”

Sulphur snapped at Jung Ui-seok. Jung Ui-seok didn’t answer him right away.

    A moment of silence passed.

Kang Yerin, who had heard their conversation, was so dumbfounded that she unconsciously gaped.

‘What are they saying? So… Sulphur was jealous of Georgius’s marriage? They weren’t enemies but collaborators all along?’

She should have felt anger at being deceived along with the Dragon King Sentai, but at the same time, she felt Sulphur’s madness, which diluted her anger.

‘Wait, Georgius must have three lovers. E.lena just got married. Does that mean they were having an affair?’

It was a nuclear bomb. A major scandal that could shake the public’s trust in Vengeance from its foundation.

    Kang Yerin gulped.

    ‘…The problem is.’

That the other party was Sulphur.

In other words, it was practically Kang Yerin herself.

She was essentially the protagonist of the scandal. There was certainly an option to expel Sulphur from the Sea Lord Sentai and make this fact public.

‘But that would be like spitting in my own face. Above all.’

Beyond such calculations of gain and loss, Kang Yerin didn’t want to discard Sulphur as a mere pawn.

She and Sulphur were already too different. Whenever she looked at him, a strange affection that could hardly be called sympathy bloomed.

It was also true that a certain bond had formed between them. If possible, she wanted to continue together.

The conversation between Jung Ui-seok and Sulphur continued.

    “Sulphur, what do you want?”

“What good would it do to know?”

“We made a contract. In exchange for granting your wish, you agreed to maintain the balance.”

    “Ha, just like a devil.”

Sulphur approached Jung Ui-seok and grabbed his collar. Strong emotions were clearly visible on his face.

“All of you. I want to melt your body, your heart, and drink it all up. I want to destroy heroes, villains, everything in the world, and be left with just the two of us, looking into each other’s eyes forever.”

    “That’s not possible.”

    Jung Ui-seok answered immediately.

“It conflicts with the wishes of others I’ve contracted with. Narrow your scope.”

    “I thought so.”

“I thought you would be more rational.”

“Haha, there was a time like that. Like her.”

Sulphur turned to look at Kang Yerin and raised the corner of his mouth.

“You know? I’ve been quite lenient until now. I tried to be a good girl because I’m a hero. I’ve been restraining myself. But when I saw the dress E.lena was wearing, I lost it. Hey, I’m confessing now.”

Sulphur looked at Jung Ui-seok with a sad smile.

“I was married to you once too. Though I never heard you say you loved me.”

Jung Ui-seok was silent for a moment before answering.

“I cannot marry you. But I can whisper that word in your ear. However, it won’t be sincere. I think that would be rather miserable.”

“You really had to point that out specifically. I know that, you bastard. Still merciless to your enemies, I see.”

“That’s the result of my consideration.”

“Right. Your women must be treating you well. You’ve become quite rounded, Georgius. To the point where your face looks pathetic.”

Still handsome though. Sulphur muttered and chuckled.

Kang Yerin, who had been listening to their conversation, interjected.

“I don’t understand. So in the end, Sulphur, you’ve been using us all this time for love? When you said the Red Dragon was madly in love before this world’s Kang Yerin died, that was in the present tense? And you’re satisfied with this ambiguous arrangement?”

Sulphur felt sick hearing Kang Yerin’s words, but couldn’t refute them.

Seeing Sulphur like this, Kang Yerin felt irritation rising.

It was partly because she was seeing his weak side for the first time. She was angry at this situation where the leader of the Sea Lord Sentai couldn’t say what she wanted to the leader of evil.

But above all, she simply thought Sulphur deserved better treatment than this.

“Take it by force. We, the Sea Lord Sentai, have become much stronger now. You can defeat Georgius, who has been wasting time indulging in women.”

    “Haha.”

Jung Ui-seok let out a hollow laugh at Kang Yerin’s sincere advice.

“Kang Yerin. Do you seriously believe that? That Sulphur could defeat me if she went all out?”

There was certainty in Kang Yerin’s eyes. She hadn’t revealed all their cards yet, but they had a secret means of enhancing their abilities.

    “Kang Yerin.”

Jung Ui-seok pointed to the floor with his finger.

    “Come back to this moment.”

    “What?”

“Go and come back. Then you’ll understand.”

Kang Yerin understood what he meant. He was telling her to use the yellow dragon to rewind time.

    The next moment.

    “—Hup!!”

Kang Yerin covered her mouth and buried her face in the floor. She barely calmed her startled heart.

    “You think you can win?”

Kang Yerin, who had rewound time, was certain from that brief experience.

Reaching him, defeating him, and reclaiming the world for heroes.

It might be impossible for a lifetime.

    “Sulphur.”

    Jung Ui-seok looked at Sulphur.

“You and I are arch-enemies. A villain cannot exist alone. A hero is needed to complete them. I need you.”

“You always seduce people with sweet words.”

Jung Ui-seok handed Sulphur an old-fashioned direct phone.

“Contact me if you need to. I’ll give you my body. Expressions of affection, well, are somewhat possible now.”

    He shrugged his shoulders.

“Just make sure my wives don’t find out. I don’t want my fingers cut off.”

    “You ridiculous bastard.”

Sulphur grimaced. But she carefully tucked the phone into her back pocket.

“Sulphur, this is our relationship. Are you dissatisfied?”

    “How could I be satisfied?”

“No one in the world gets everything they want and lives without a single complaint. Even E.lena and Dark Matter don’t have everything. Isn’t that natural?”

    “But you’re different, Georgius.”

“Of course. I am the leader of evil. It’s a privilege given only to me.”

Sulphur was disgusted by Jung Ui-seok’s shamelessness.

“But remember, Sulphur. In this world, only you have the right to kill the leader of evil.”

    “…Yes, that’s right.”

    Sulphur accepted.

    To defeat the villain Georgius.

Only Sulphur, the arch-enemy, could realize that proposition in this world.

This would never change until one of them died.

Even if they maintained a balanced relationship like now, even if the balance broke and they became full-fledged enemies, or even if they truly became lovers.

In the end, one of them would definitely have their heart ripped out and meet death at the hands of the other.

That is what it means to be arch-enemies.

“Now that we’ve settled this, I’ll finish dealing with Kang Yerin.”

“Didn’t you say that would break the balance?”

“Are you telling me to leave an uncertain factor?”

“I can manage it. Gravity transcends time, so I can observe if Yerin goes back to the past.”

Jung Ui-seok pondered for a moment after hearing Sulphur’s words.

    Soon he turned his body.

“Make sure you manage it properly. Right now, dealing with Jade is urgent, so I’ll reconsider later.”

Jung Ui-seok transformed into his dragon form and leaped up. Sulphur didn’t see him off.

Sulphur cleared away the debris and helped Kang Yerin out. Kang Yerin glared at Sulphur with contemptuous eyes.

“I know, I know. Curse me all you want.”

    Slap!

Kang Yerin slapped Sulphur’s cheek with all her might.

“That stings more than I expected.”

“How could you deceive your comrades like that? I can’t believe it.”

“The result is the best outcome, isn’t it?”

    “That’s… true, but.”

    Kang Yerin also understood.

For them, the heroes in this world, to survive, they couldn’t go against Georgius.

She had just experienced that clearly with her own eyes.

“What exactly is that emotion? That you’re the same person as me.”

“You still thought that? Well. I’ve always thought of you as a much younger sister.”

“I should be the older sister.”

“Don’t make me laugh. The difference between you and me is in experience. Both in quantity and quality.”

“I don’t want to call someone who ruins their work because of emotions an older sister.”

“Do as you like. I don’t want to age anyway.”

“…We should hide this from the team members, right?”

    “Yes.”

“I’m curious, how did you come to love him so blindly?”

Sulphur turned to look at Kang Yerin with a broken smile.

“You and I are definitely different people.”

    “Why?”

“He saved your life too, didn’t he?”

“If you mean Red Dragon… yes. That’s what heroes do.”

“It wasn’t the hero, but ‘him’ who saved you.”

    Sulphur shrugged.

“Having my life saved was something so special it blinded me. At least for me.”

Kang Yerin thought that she still couldn’t understand Sulphur’s sensibilities as she put on her helmet and followed him.
