Ch.136136. Betrayer (2)
by fnovelpia
This is the Hall of Evil Gods.
Despite being a conference hall where renowned evil gods gather to discuss strategies, the atmosphere now felt no different from a slaughterhouse. Here, hanging upside down with his leg caught on a hook, was the spy-god from the Pantheon—Deimos, the God of Defeat, Worry, and Anxiety—and discussions about his fate were underway.
《《《《Kill him! Kill him! Kill him!》》》》
The most prevalent opinion was the appropriate punishment for a traitor—execution.
To these evil gods—who were more lenient than anyone else in the world when it came to their own betrayals, somehow justifying their actions as righteous, while demanding death or punishment equivalent to death when others betrayed them or their allies—Deimos, who had deliberately deceived them from the beginning, was nothing short of deserving death.
At the same time, these evil gods clearly harbored expectations for the scraps that would fall after the execution—that is, pieces of his corpse.
Though it was merely a matter of tearing apart a single evil god and absorbing a non-essential fragment, even this had produced significant growth.
After all, the corpse fragments of such a prominent figure—a son of the Pantheon’s 12 Major Gods—might contain enough power to potentially raise one’s rank.
Meanwhile, the second most popular opinion was to keep him alive for now and use him as a bargaining chip.
As it happened, Deimos’s father, the War God Makius, was particularly fond of his children and would do anything to save them, even if they were demigods born between immortals and mortals.
And now that they had captured a genuine god like Deimos, some suggested openly negotiating, whether through deception or extorting faith. From a rational and reasonable perspective, it wasn’t a bad idea.
Well, various other opinions were being presented too, such as methods of execution or modifying him into a weapon of war, but…
In the end, the final decision on all these opinions fell to the implicit leader of the evil gods’ council.
The Evil God of Vengeance, the God of Bloody Revenge, Ma-Duk, would make the decision.
And Ma-Duk was a god whose hostility toward the Pantheon was absolute.
《There will be no compromise. The only fitting end for one who joined under the premise of betrayal is death.》
And so, Deimos’s fate was decided.

Shortly after, the execution was carried out.
———Crack!
Deimos, who died instantly without being able to utter a word, had his corpse shattered into pieces. The Seven Great Evil Gods took the parts they wanted, and the rest was distributed equally.
The distribution was almost identical to how beef had been shared during the first meeting.
Marus Area, the Evil God of Plague, took the internal organs, one of the sources of disease.
Magica, the Evil God of Conspiracy, took the brain, which had been the cause of this conspiracy.
Panima, the Evil God of Despair, took the despairing screams uttered while dying.
Horus, the Evil God of Fear, took the eyes and ears, which were the sources of fear.
[ ], the Evil God of Misfortune, took the remaining skull after beheading, symbolizing his misfortune.
The genitals and testicles were set aside for pleasure, and I, as before, obtained the vivid blood and soul.
Meanwhile, I read through the memories contained in the soul I had acquired.
‘…What is wrong with this idiot?’
As a result, I thought this evil god Deimos was truly foolish.
He had formed a kind of evil god aspect and was active, but when Magica contacted him, he infiltrated without telling anyone, hoping to earn merit on his own.
Of course, this fellow had apparently tried to use his brain to avoid being caught in his betrayal, using a kind of trick by adopting an alias for his divided aspect.
He probably thought that even if he made a soul-binding oath, only half of that aspect would be destroyed, leaving him relatively intact.
But would such a low and idiotic trick really work when swearing by one’s soul to the laws of the world—the coercive force?
Especially for a god, who is even more bound by the world’s laws and concepts than mortals?
Naturally, as a result of breaking that oath, Deimos was ■■■, and the soul of his divided aspect was ■■■, making his soul unstable.
He couldn’t speak properly, his sense of self was damaged, and his divine nature, which he hadn’t even divided, was severely damaged and ceased to function.
If he had at least divided his divine nature in half, this trick might have worked, with only half of his evil god aspect being ■■■, saving the other half…
But the ■■■ phenomenon penetrated through the undivided aspect, resulting in him failing to save even his divine nature, becoming a complete wreck.
To think that such a pathetic being was a son of the 12 Major Gods and the brother of Phobos-Horus—truly, the world was in decline.
Anyway, after this mealtime ended.
The meeting proceeded smoothly with Magica and me as moderators, and as a result, one grand strategy had been firmly established.
Starting from the point when the Evil God of Pleasure is born in the Holy City, each of the Seven Great Evil Gods would either devastate or handle their assigned regions as they see fit.
Simultaneously, the evil gods would attack the remaining territories of the Rom Empire, and finally, they would join forces to deal with the returning Orc Empire expedition.
None of the participants in the meeting believed this strategy would be implemented as is, but this was the grand strategy that emerged from the discussion.
One might think it lacks realism and seems too haphazard, and that’s correct. All the evil gods present would likely think the same.
But realistically, there’s a fundamental lack of trust between them, and evil gods, being what they are, have fixed mindsets that prioritize their own interests above all.
In this situation, even if they adopted a sophisticated and well-crafted plan as their guideline, would it really yield good results?
Therefore, even though it seemed somewhat vague, the outcome of the plan inevitably converged to one conclusion.
Meanwhile, another opinion emerged during the meeting.
《(I have a good idea—what if we create something like angels, similar to the Pantheon?)》
This suggestion from [ ], the Evil God of Misfortune, proposed creating shared subordinates that all evil gods in the council could use, just as the Pantheon does.
Shared subordinates.
A common type of subordinate shared by an entire divine faction, which, while officially belonging to a specific god, can basically be summoned by anyone.
Naturally, they’re somewhat ambiguous compared to subordinates specifically tailored to a god’s divine nature, but in exchange, they possess excellent versatility that’s reliable in any situation.
In short, it could be considered a kind of relief measure to overcome the limitation of only being able to summon subordinates specialized in specific areas…
From my position, already possessing versatile subordinates like Blood Warriors, it wasn’t particularly appealing.
But still, it seemed ambiguous to simply oppose it outright, and if such shared subordinates existed, it wouldn’t necessarily be bad for me either.
Of course, I didn’t need subordinates similar to those in the original work, as they would clearly only cause harm.
So, with most evil gods agreeing and some remaining silent.
I actively tried to nerf the shared subordinates from the original work according to my will, and thus the low, mid, and high-tier shared subordinates of the Evil Gods’ Council were created.
They were all fallen angel-type subordinates, considered exclusive to the evil god system, and true to the infamous reputation of fallen angels as “beautiful garbage,” both the low and mid-tier ones had ambiguous performance.
The low-tier subordinate was the “Fallen Wing.”
A small fallen angel about the size of a goblin with an appearance resembling an imp or gargoyle. Despite flight being its specialty, it was poorly designed as a balanced type, making it a failed subordinate.
Typically, flight-based monsters rely on quick agility for hit-and-run tactics, but this one became generally mediocre due to awkward stat balancing.
It’s fast, but slow for a flying type; its durability is moderately low; and despite trying to equip both ranged and melee attack methods, it ended up being mediocre at both.
The mid-tier subordinate was the “Cursed Fallen.”
A fallen angel specializing in curses similar to the curse mage job class, but as its name suggests, its performance was cursed to a terrible level.
Cursed magical firepower, mediocre damage over time, curses that don’t even work on higher-ranked beings, and so on.
It possessed curse magic, which ranks among the lower tiers of magic even within the same class, and emphasized its weaknesses while covering up its strengths—along with the worst possible stats.
In contrast, the high-tier subordinate, “Fallen Champion,” had considerable completeness due to my desire for a small, flying high-tier subordinate, unlike the two subordinates above.
A combination of high firepower, high speed, and enough durability to not collapse after a single hit, along with only the necessary abilities carefully selected, was enough to earn high praise.
It’s sufficient to help my force composition, which was relatively vulnerable to aerial combat.
…And its design, reflecting the Evil God of Pleasure’s input, turned out quite well—attractive, even.
