Chapter Index

    Four Dragons.

In the original work, it was described as ‘the first calamity.’

Among countless trials, it was a tragedy that stood out, a boss that drove many supporting characters to their deaths… It was truly a creature that deserved the modifier “death.”

Despite Gallimar Academy boasting a size comparable to a small city.

Even such a peaceful and cozy landscape was helplessly trampled under the wings of calamity.

The atmosphere of the work spiraling into despair.

Being so shocking, it was frequently mentioned among users.

That devastation was not easily forgotten.

[Title: Even looking back, the Four Dragons episode is]

    Truly despair itself

Even reliable supporting characters died left and right

I’m not even sure if it was possible to subjugate that thing

Meanwhile they kept showing the collapsed academy buildings

That sense of despair was masterful

It felt like the smell of blood was coming through the monitor

Seeing familiar faces as corpses scattered around made me feel strange

It was heartbreaking when the protagonist’s group wailed at the end

    It’s the only episode I can’t replay

[Agreed, it’s too heavy to revisit]

-> Each character died in such a sad way

[The headmaster is such an incompetent bastard he should just die]

-> Getting criticized again today… JOAT

-> This guy gets trashed every time the story progresses

    -> The usual wwe

[It really is a hopeless episode]

-> It felt like even the remaining school atmosphere was crushed

-> Even after successfully subjugating it, everything felt empty

An episode filled only with wounds.

In the wake of the calamity, only torn sprouts were left rolling around.

Throughout the episode, it felt like wandering through a nightmare.

[Title: I thought about why the Four Dragons was particularly intense]

I think it was the deaths of the faculty members

They were reliable allies we could depend on in the early parts

We received help from them when in trouble, got advice about abilities, and formed meaningful bonds

But then these mental pillars were brutally killed

Whether you’re the protagonist or a player, you can’t help but break down

Because all the supporters you relied on were swept away

    On the other hand

    That devastation was also impressive

Now that there was truly no one to lean on, it felt like the fate of the world rested solely on the protagonist

The desperate struggle in the midst of despair was seared into my mind

[Regardless of personal preference, it’s definitely a high-quality episode]

-> I personally like it too

-> Recommending for those who enjoy dark themes

[The Four Dragons was unreasonably strong for a mid-game boss]

-> The faculty members managed to subjugate it by sacrificing themselves, but if they hadn’t stopped it, several countries would have disappeared

-> For real, even at an academy that gathered the continent’s best, this was the result

[It was shocking that only 30% of the faculty survived]

-> It was only subjugatable because it was at the academy

-> If it had spawned in a normal region, there would have been at least 100,000 casualties

-> The professors were incredibly competent though

-> The fact that student casualties were under 100 is a miracle in itself

-> There’s a reason why the faculty members are the first to go

    Calamity or Death.

I was facing a creature that bore all those modifiers.

Looking up, I could see an enormous form.

    “……”

    Its size alone was overwhelming.

At least 50 meters in height, wings that covered the entire collapsed temple, and a tail that swayed with ponderous movements.

A creature the size of an apartment building stood before me.

With blood and flesh dripping from its form.

A size that completely filled my pupils and overflowed beyond them. It evoked a fundamental fear.

Even the fox and the princess, who had maintained their composure throughout, were frozen.

    I quietly clicked my tongue.

‘The worst-case scenario I had anticipated.’

    Our gazes met.

As I stared into the reptilian eyes tinged with blood, an indescribable chill ran down my spine.

The killing intent spreading throughout the underground seemed to dominate the entire area.

My rationality was being chipped away in real time.

It had been a while since I’d felt such dense energy.

I gathered shadows at my fingertips.

    ‘A dragon.’

A being classified as transcendent from the beginning.

They had laid a curse on its corpse.

Death, infused with human malice, had been unleashed, leaving only a monster that craved slaughter before us.

It was too high in its inherent rank to be simply called a chimera.

Power beyond the laws of nature.

    And its manifestation.

With slight exaggeration, it was comparable to a [Star].

    With furrowed brows, I muttered.

“For now, resolving this takes priority.”

    The plan had gone awry.

If we weren’t careful, the tragedy from the original work might repeat itself.

We had to stop it here at all costs.

    I called to the girls.

    “Are you two… alright?”

The children finally came to their senses.

    Their reactions were somewhat shrinking.

They seemed overwhelmed by the intense killing intent.

Though they nodded while wiping away cold sweat, their legs were trembling as if about to give way at any moment.

It was clearly too much for girls who hadn’t completed their growth.

    Still, I found them admirable.

    ‘They’re enduring it?’

    Their eyes were still alive.

The temptation to flee, rationality crumbling under fear, consciousness drifting away.

Despite all that precariousness, they stood their ground.

    Gripping their swords tightly.

    They must have sensed it.

If such a monster were allowed to reach the surface, only a terrible catastrophe would await.

That’s why the fox and the princess couldn’t step back.

    A kind of foolishness.

“…I’m fine. My stomach just churned for a moment.”

    “Yes. I won’t run away.”

    It was an altruistic nature.

Inner goodness can shake off even fear.

    Resolute eyes looked at me.

    “Because I believe in you.”

“I want to help you, Judas.”

    The fruit of taming.

In their black and blue eyes, firm determination was evident.

Perhaps it was proof of the bond we had built.

Despite treading the boundary between life and death, the two believed without doubt.

    That I could resolve this.

    “Hehe.”

    Laughter escaped me involuntarily.

I couldn’t possibly betray such expectations.

    I released my output.

With lies swirling around me, I declared.

    “Well then… shall we begin?”

    A step forward.

It was time to subjugate even death itself.

    ***

    Time was short.

If we were distracted even for a moment, the calamity would head for the surface.

We needed to buy time until we could deliver the finishing blow.

The scarlet and platinum girls gripped their swords.

Then they took solemn steps toward the death before them.

Death in the distance was also looking down at them.

    “Here it comes!”

    A shout from behind.

Following that, breath filled with blood and flesh poured down from above.

Sharlotte stepped forward and simultaneously unfolded her domain.

Vines made of steel wrapped around the surroundings, then protected the group from the breath.

Several explosive sounds rang out amid the roughly colliding magical powers.

    Heavy remnants.

    Kuuuung-!

    “Keep holding it!”

A red afterimage darted forward in front of the struggling princess.

The fox, now wrapped in flames.

Fierce heat was swirling around her.

Irene shot forward like a bullet, then swung her sword covered in flames.

The sword energy compressed with high temperature advanced, cutting through the darkness.

    The attack collided immediately after.

    Kwaaaang-!!

The dragon’s center was disrupted, if only for a moment.

Thanks to that, the direction of its breath went astray.

Having narrowly overcome the crisis, the fox and the princess prepared for the next move.

Both seemed to coordinate well even in dangerous situations, perhaps because they were hardened by real combat.

    They signaled each other.

    “Yes. Please continue like that.”

“Easy for you to say…! These flames have their limits too, you know?”

“If we can’t do it, we’ll just die here.”

    “…Damn it.”

The fox wrapped herself in flames again.

    The situation wasn’t bad.

They were each fulfilling their assigned roles well.

The plan they had established was straightforward.

    Sharlotte and Irene.

While the two of them bought time against the dragon, Snakus, who had charged the finishing blow, would step in.

It was similar to how they had eliminated the creature of the [Conductor] earlier.

    The girls gave their all.

    Solely to draw attention.

    Kuooooo-!!

A scream that felt like it would tear off their ears.

    Perhaps it had become enraged.

The dragon’s rampage worsened as time passed, and the underground landscape descended into hell.

Only the stench of rotting flesh lingered in the air.

    Nevertheless.

    “My sword.”

    The children continued their coordination.

    “Be dyed.”

The princess continued to deploy her domain.

The garden of steel she cultivated covered the area, forming a barrier to protect the group.

It was to defend against the dragon’s breath that occasionally poured down, if only for a moment.

    At the same time.

    Kudududuk-!

She restrained its movements with thick vines.

The entwining stems wrapped around its wings and legs.

Though they broke under the dragon’s struggles, they didn’t stop regenerating, piercing or cutting its skin with their sharp edges.

Of course, most of them shattered against the tough skin.

    But that was enough.

    “Haa, haa…!”

Perhaps the detailed control had taken its toll.

The girl suddenly had a nosebleed.

But without even thinking of wiping it away, she focused all her attention on maintaining her domain.

While she held the Four Dragons’ ankles even momentarily.

    “Kugh…!”

The fox directly confronted the calamity.

    Speed was her advantage.

She swung her sword, maximizing that advantage.

The bright red flames seemed to be showing the results of her training, delivering stinging blows even to the dragon.

Also, unlike before, her ability utilization had become more diverse.

    Chwaaak-!

Momentarily bursting smoke to obscure vision.

Spreading a curtain formed of flames.

Shooting hot sword energy even from a distance.

To keep the dragon’s attention away from Snakus and the princess, she put on a flashy performance.

    The girl shone.

    “Over here!”

    Kwang-!

    The flames struck its face.
