Ch.132132. Estate Reorganization (1)
by fnovelpia
After conquering the Lefant Barony and receiving ample rewards,
“Have you arrived?”
“Yes, I have returned!”
Having made a grand return to the manor with soldiers and Enerval’s family, I was finally able to freely modify and repair the manor in my possession.
Of course, before that, there was one matter I needed to address.
The encampment where soldiers were stationed was currently being used temporarily as their residence, but there were several issues with continuing to use it as permanent housing.
First, the dwellings that made up the encampment were nothing more than tents or crude huts.
These couldn’t even be compared to the military tents commonly used in the K-military that Koreans might think of.
For starters, instead of modern waterproof canvas, they used cloth coated with the mucus of common “mud catfish” to repel water, which was, unsurprisingly, far inferior in quality.
Additionally, since the dwellings weren’t built by professional military engineers, to be frank, their quality was extremely crude.
The fact that many of the few huts had nearly collapsed despite our absence for less than a month during the war proved this point.
The only fortunate thing was that proper drainage ditches had been dug, so despite several rainfalls, at least the foundations remained intact.
Anyway, although we had somehow managed to endure for just over a month… the encampment was essentially in ruins at this point.
Therefore, I used this crude-quality encampment as the starting point for my manor development policy and enthusiastically began magical renovations.
Currently, this village (tentative name) has a population of about 1,200 people, which is by no means a small number.
Between the soldiers’ families and the residents who accompanied me when I brought their families, the numbers had grown considerably.
In short, I now needed to provide residential facilities and infrastructure for 1,200 people, approximately 250 households.
Ah, of course, this wouldn’t be a major problem.
[Sanctuary of Nature, Grow!]
What I envisioned was none other than modern K-apartments.
Communal housing was the best choice for accommodating 1,200 people in the limited space where my hometown village once stood.
I not only completed the infrastructure by magically recreating modern appliances for water supply and lighting but also used special materials to achieve soundproofing performance far superior to hastily built apartments.
Additionally, I incorporated elevators for moving between floors and implemented a type of biometric security system for each door.
The result of freely applying all the “Nature’s Hut” magic skill I had accumulated was now before my eyes.
The apartment was an incredible 20 stories high for this era, and from the outside, it resembled a magnificent landscape reminiscent of China’s towering cliffs.
Each residence was designed with considerable space, reflecting the era’s tendency toward extended families.
Of course, I didn’t forget to prepare homes with fewer rooms for nuclear families or appropriately sized homes for single-person households.
Since having only 20-story buildings standing in empty space wasn’t particularly aesthetically pleasing, I reinforced these blank spaces with various landscaping work.
The current structure of the village (tentative name) is roughly in this form, with space intentionally left in the center to build various amenities for residents.
Having secured space equivalent to at least an entire World Cup stadium through simple space expansion barriers, I first planted various trees and secured water sources and waterways to create a somewhat unique atmosphere.
The central lake, endlessly supplied with water thanks to its connection to underground water veins, and the waterways extending in all directions from it created a gentle ambiance for this central park.
After completing basic preparations by placing a few minor facilities, I began equipping several installations for the village’s defense.
Although the deliberately defensive and enclosed structures would serve as a kind of wall, relying solely on physical defenses seemed somewhat unreliable.
Moreover, since the buildings were so massive that the natural assimilation ability of the original “Nature’s Hut” wouldn’t function, I determined that separate defensive measures were necessary and, as always, formed barriers using magical power.
The otherworld formation technology used on the Tarasque, and further used to upgrade it to version 2.0, had long since reached a certain level of mastery.
Although I still couldn’t independently form otherworlds, creating otherworld formations using various natural objects as axes was as easy as eating cold porridge.
[…I pray, O Light. Your call is so beautiful. According to the cycle of life, the principles of existence…]
Thus, not much time passed before the village began to take shape.
The most basic construction was reinforcing the outer walls of each multi-family housing unit to enhance pure defensive capabilities.
While I certainly needed to cast magic to simply increase durability, I also invested heavily in conceptual defense enhancements.
I fixed those massive cliffs in a cylindrical form to create an effect that separated the outside from the inside, and this power of separation also protected the internal structure from being arbitrarily damaged from the outside.
Consequently, the final durability of the outer walls was remarkable—anyone wishing to break through those walls would definitely need the power of magic destruction.
Meanwhile, after enhancing defenses, the next step was naturally camouflage.
I made vision blur from points about 100 meters away to prevent detection from a distance.
By creating artificial rock faces and passages between each building, I completed this village as a kind of massive cylindrical structure.
Additionally, I didn’t forget to enchant the outer walls to make them appear as perfect cliffs from the outside.
While the inside could clearly see out, from the outside it would appear as nothing but rock faces, providing both basic and additional camouflage effects…
‘…Whew, good. Let’s move on to the next step.’
After spending about five days on this, I finally began making several preparations to provide these people with productive capacity.
For now, I can produce all the food they consume.
The food I used to feed these soldiers and their families was all created through my magic, and if long-term supply without my help is needed, I can simply create magical tools.
In fact, I easily mass-produced and distributed magical tools that provide each household with flour, salt, sugar, cooking oil, vinegar, and drinking water daily, and I can produce any other ingredients as needed.
The central lake, expanded to be surprisingly spacious, is being used to farm carp and trout.
Throughout the central plaza, there are small gardens that each household can freely use, and if they go through certain procedures to apply, they can receive a reasonable amount of ingredients.
I plan to contract with nearby territories to purchase various daily necessities, and clothing made from plant fibers can be supplied almost infinitely through magical power.
Thus, for people who would otherwise have to live day-to-day, this village boasted an environment that was truly utopian…
Therefore, instead of collecting taxes from the residents of this village, I decided to receive labor in exchange.
For example, through the production of dairy products like cheese or alcoholic beverages that cannot be created by magic, or by cultivating unique crops.
In particular, what I wanted to entrust to them was the cultivation of “Star Berry,” one of the magical plants brought from the new continent.
This fruit remarkably possesses the rare effect of accelerating magical power recovery, but the problem is that this effect doesn’t activate if the fruit is rapidly grown using magic.
However, it has strong vitality and is tough, so while the cultivation difficulty isn’t high, it requires an enormous amount of manpower as each tree needs to be grown with genuine care.
One might think that requiring such care means high cultivation difficulty, but in this fantasy world, merely requiring a lot of attention doesn’t qualify as difficult.
…After all, there exist plants where fruits must be harvested in rhythm, and if the rhythm breaks, the fruit rots.
Anyway, Star Berry requires an insane amount of manpower yet isn’t particularly difficult to cultivate, and furthermore, it can be considered quite valuable.
Therefore, I assigned this work to the villagers to provide them with jobs and to secure potion ingredients for my own use…
‘…Whew, good. Let’s move on to the next step.’
After spending several days intensely playing SimCity, I was now ready to move on to manipulate the rest of the manor.
