Ch.131Side Story: Three Days on Earth

    Honk honk honk!

“Hey, you crazy bastards! Move when I honk the—wait, where’d they go?!”

The middle-aged man shouted at the couple standing motionless in front of his car while driving.

But they disappeared in an instant, as if they were a mirage.

Wondering if he’d seen ghosts, the man shuddered briefly, clicked his tongue, and pressed the accelerator to continue driving.

On the rooftop of a nearby building, Radios and Arsia were looking down at the strange scene below.

“So that must be what they call a car, boss.”

“Yeah. If this wasn’t Earth, I would’ve killed him on the spot.”

“Y-you can’t do that! Technically, we broke the rules by blocking his path.”

[That driver was actually being nice. What you two did deserves a beating with a bat and would still be justified.]

Namgung Ihyun sighed from within the shadows.

    It really was crazy behavior.

Radios and Arsia hadn’t just jaywalked—they’d jumped right into the middle of a four-lane road.

Fortunately, the driver honked and stopped in time.

If he hadn’t, Radios and Arsia would have collided with the car and caused serious damage…

    ‘As if that would happen.’

One was immortal, and the other was once the world’s strongest magician who had awakened to divine status.

Even if they were hit by a car going 80 km/h, they wouldn’t suffer much damage.

The car, however, would be completely wrecked.

[Please just follow the rules I mentioned… This place is crawling with watchers.]

“Watchers? These insignificant beings dare to watch me?”

[Why is your middle school syndrome flaring up again, you troublesome master?]

“Whatever. Where are we going next?”

    […Sigh.]

Namgung Ihyun shook her head at Radios’s attitude that basically said “shut up and move on.”

Though all that moved was her shadow.

    Radios deliberately ignored her reaction.

In truth, actually visiting a place he’d only heard about made him sensitive.

Especially the air pollution, which was bad enough to make him frown.

Namgung Ihyun called it fine dust, but how could dust be this unpleasant?

He could feel it slowly accumulating in his body, slightly interfering with his use of magical power.

    That’s how he knew.

Perhaps the reason these people lived by science was because they were so busy developing it that they couldn’t find other possibilities.

Of course, that had nothing to do with their current situation.

Following Namgung Ihyun’s introduction, Radios and Arsia visited a place called a convenience store.

[This is GS25. It’s a convenience store, a place full of all kinds of food.]

    “It’s probably just processed stuff.”

“Boss… let’s hear her out first.”

    “Ahem, fine.”

[I promise you, master. If you don’t exclaim in amazement after eating this, I’ll commit seppuku right here.]

With those words, Namgung Ihyun gestured toward a red cup.

The cup had the words “Shin Ramyun” written on it.

“This is supposed to make me exclaim in amazement? Ha! I’ll disembowel you myself if it doesn’t.”

Confidently picking up the ramyun, Radios tore open the plastic wrap right there.

[Hey, you idiot master! Pay for it first! Pay!! Have you never been to a market before?!]

    “Huh?”

“Where does this blue-faced kid get off opening ramyun without paying first!”

As Namgung Ihyun shouted, Radios frowned at an old man in a strange vest yelling at him.

Not paying… that meant not giving the proper price.

So was this convenience store similar to a market?

He thought it was just a food storage room.

[That damn idiot master… why has he become so stupid?]

Namgung Ihyun shook her head at Radios.

True, she had deliberately given him vague instructions to see him flustered.

But who would have expected him to act like such a delinquent?

Jumping into a four-lane road and disappearing.

Trying to eat ramyun at a convenience store without paying.

    What was he thinking?

“I’m sorry. This person has been living far away and forgot about paying… Please take this and forgive us.”

    “A-ahem… Don’t do this again!”

The old man’s eyes gleamed at the gold coin Arsia handed him, and he swallowed his words.

He wasn’t sure if it was real gold.

But their unusual appearance suggested they weren’t modern people.

    They even looked exotic…

Honestly, opening ramyun wasn’t a serious crime, and it cost less than 1,000 won, so if it was real gold, he was profiting.

    If not, well, too bad.

After this little incident was resolved:

[First, pour water up to the line and wait three minutes.]

    “Hmm… okay, I’ll wait.”

[Then tear off the lid completely, take a bite with chopsticks and… ahh~ That looks delicious. It’s been a while since I’ve had ramyun.]

Namgung Ihyun stopped mid-explanation and licked her lips.

She hadn’t eaten ramyun for about 7-8 years.

Kadinant didn’t have the technology to make ramyun.

The closest thing was noodles in a spicy broth?

Since it was very different from real ramyun,

She watched the ramyun from within the shadows, licking her lips.

Arsia also diligently waited for three minutes as instructed.

When three minutes passed, both of them picked up noodles at the same time.

    “Slurp.”

    “..!”

They both froze after taking their first bite.

[How is it? Amazing, right? Makes you feel like dying? That’s Shin Ramyun, the essence of Korean spiciness!]

    “Wow… this is really delicious!”

    “Holy shit, this is insane.”

Radios cursed in amazement at the taste of the ramyun.

Arsia tried to be more restrained but was just as impressed as Radios.

Within 30 seconds, they finished both the noodles and the broth.

They looked at Namgung Ihyun with eyes like young lambs.

As if asking what else was delicious.

[Hmm… I thought you’d like it, but I didn’t expect you to like it this much. Next, we’ll try this!]

Namgung Ihyun decided they shouldn’t continue their convenience store food tour and quietly cleaned up before leading them back to the street.

The next place she took them was:

[This is called tonkatsu. It’s deep-fried pork… There’s a sad legend about it for boys.]

    “A sad legend?”

[If you follow your parents when they say ‘let’s go eat tonkatsu,’ there’s no turning back?]

As she said this, Namgung Ihyun’s gaze moved toward Radios’s crotch.

    Arsia blushed and said:

“D-don’t tell me eating tonkatsu means cutting it off?”

    “What?!”

[No, that’s not it! It’s about circumcision… Damn it! Why do I have to explain this? Both of you just shut up and eat!]

At this rate, she’d end up explaining everything that exists in the modern world.

Namgung Ihyun cut the conversation short and handed tonkatsu to both of them.

    This time, their reactions differed.

“Mmm! This is delicious! Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. And the sauce is exactly to my taste! Tonkatsu is much better than ramyun!”

“It’s delicious. But… somehow I can’t forget the spicy taste of the ramyun, so if I had to choose, I think ramyun is better.”

“Come on, tonkatsu is definitely better than ramyun! Look at this. Isn’t it beautiful?”

    “…Yes.”

Arsia couldn’t help blushing when she saw Radios looking at her with sparkling eyes.

How could he show such an innocent expression?

Just a few years ago, she couldn’t have imagined him making such a face.

To be so happy just because of food.

Arsia found something she needed to do when she returned to Kadinant.

Researching food to make Radios happy.

Nothing would be more rewarding than that.

[Well, tonkatsu is originally more popular with men, which explains these reactions… Now let’s go eat food that women like?]

    “There’s such a thing?”

[Hehehe. Of course. Just trust me and follow.]

    “Alright. Let’s go.”

Radios and Arsia were already giving Namgung Ihyun looks of trust.

    After ramyun and tonkatsu,

They were confident that the next food she recommended would be delicious too, so they followed her.

[The next food is something women go crazy for.]

    “…It’s not drugged, is it?”

[There are actually rumors asking if it’s drugged. It’s like a drug for high school girls.]

    “A drug…”

Though he didn’t know what a high school girl was, he understood that this food was very popular among females of a certain age group.

Food so good it made people suspect it contained drugs.

Radios and Arsia followed Namgung Ihyun with even more interest.

She stopped in front of a restaurant with a strange, strong aroma and spoke:

[The food we’re going to eat is called malatang!!]

The appearance of malatang—the devil’s food that would make Arsia go crazy trying to recreate that spicy taste after returning to Kadinant.
