Ch.124124. Normal Attack Challenge
by fnovelpia
A B-rank dungeon can be considered similar in difficulty to what one would see during a dungeon backflow.
It’s a dungeon difficult for ordinary hunters to conquer.
Even somewhat renowned hunters would need to form parties to clear it.
While rankers typically enter A-rank dungeons, reaching that level requires being an A to S-rank hunter with a level of at least 60. B-rank dungeons are where lower-ranked hunters diligently grind.
Naturally, not many hunters use such dungeons as farming grounds.
No matter how high one’s level and rank, attacks from monsters beyond a certain threshold can become quite threatening even to such hunters if they let their guard down for just a moment.
The most dangerous behavior in a dungeon is carelessness.
One wrong move can lead to being bitten and torn apart. Hunters dying in dungeons far below their rank is commonplace, and many even die while responding to dungeon backflow incidents.
That’s why Kang Sungjun of the [KangSpung] channel has over 1.1 million YouTube subscribers and such popularity.
While he doesn’t post videos of top rankers clearing dungeons,
his content features dungeons slightly below that level—but still challenging enough for his main audience of hunters—where he impressively sweeps through them with ease.
His ability, Explosion, is activated through various types of bombs or skills.
The satisfying detonations under various conditions combined with powerful damage that melts monsters creates a unique feeling, quite different from the impact of magical attacks.
As he gained followers, Sungjun developed his concept day by day.
He produced videos showing how to clear dungeons thoroughly and refreshingly, and often went further by belittling videos of higher-ranked hunters, inviting unfavorable comparisons.
Each hunter can have a different hunting style.
Some hunters might clear dungeons slowly and steadily, while others, like Kang Sungjun, might do so with flashy and satisfying techniques.
It didn’t matter which type of hunter someone was.
In Sungjun’s opinion, the [KangSpung] channel and guild name could proudly be counted among the top guilds and parties in Korea.
“Hey, any good targets this time?”
“Haven’t we already picked clean most of the decent channels? We might need to scrape the bottom of the barrel.”
“We’ve stirred up so much drama lately that there’s nothing fresh anymore.”
His party members were all like-minded individuals who enjoyed hanging out together.
They would plan and scheme together while snickering.
This sort of thing wasn’t really a big problem.
Trading shots on YouTube, competing, and uploading videos—while there were anti-fans and hunters who disliked it, there were also many who enjoyed it, and it wasn’t illegal.
However, Kang Sungjun was the type who enjoyed meeting and taking revenge on hunters who responded to his provocations with challenges of their own.
“Ah, these days people have heard the rumors and don’t fall for provocations easily.”
There was no special reason.
He was simply intoxicated by his own power.
While he might not succeed alone, with his party, they could devour most hunters.
Of course, even he wouldn’t touch those he couldn’t defeat.
Rather, he maintained good relationships with Korea’s rankers through his considerable money and connections.
That’s probably why an A+-rank hunter could have over 1.1 million subscribers and live so comfortably.
Even with the dishonorable label of being a former gangster.
Anyway, lately his YouTube channel had grown, but his notoriety had spread so widely that there weren’t many people who would interestingly take his bait. Living quietly while waiting for the atmosphere to calm down was making him restless.
Where was some fool who would pick a fight?
Even something trivial would do.
If someone just made eye contact and glared at him, Sungjun was confident he could escalate it into something bigger.
“Oh? Sungjun hyung, look at this.”
And just like that, prey walked right up to Sungjun, who had fire in his eyes.
——————–
“Do you know what’s important in a dungeon?”
Swoosh- Swoosh-
Kim Suhyun’s movements with the greatsword were light and free.
Considering the massive size of the sword, almost as big as his torso, his strength was beyond imagination.
“Cleanliness. Precision.”
Wielding the greatsword, Kim Suhyun said this.
“Even killing one monster should be clean and perfect. That’s what makes a true master. Just carelessly clicking area-of-effect skills—honestly, even my nephew could do that if he had such abilities.”
His words to the camera were full of mockery.
“Let’s be honest, right? Everyone watching this thinks the same thing. ‘If I had an A+-rank area skill, I could gather reliable companions to use as shields and stand in the back striking cool poses while happily running dungeons.’ Hasn’t everyone thought that at least once? Is that impressive? Sure, it might look cool. But is that skill? What I’m saying is this.”
As he spoke loudly while swinging his greatsword, monsters began to gather one by one at the sound.
“True skill, true impressiveness is this.”
He dove between the monsters rushing at him and swung his greatsword.
Whoosh-
The greatsword precisely cut three monsters in half with a single strike.
Blood splattered and monster corpses were strewn about, but the greatsword didn’t stop.
Whoosh-
The sound of air being split rang out, and any monster in its path was swept up and sliced by the greatsword.
It was like a natural disaster.
He dodged the monsters’ quick and powerful attacks as smoothly as the wind, while his massive greatsword was already swinging before the monsters could even react.
The difference in class was palpable.
“A hunter’s strength isn’t just about luckily receiving skills to click.”
Kim Suhyun continued to mock as he spoke.
Even as monsters kept coming endlessly, no matter how many he killed.
He didn’t look at the monsters but kept his gaze on the invisible camera.
As if telling someone to listen.
“How pathetic is it to have good skills but be unable to do anything when standing directly in front of monsters? This is how it should be done—with skill. That’s the real satisfaction.”
And Kim Suhyun, as if to prove his point, didn’t use a single skill from the beginning to the end of the dungeon.
He cleared the dungeon using only his greatsword.
Of course, people who know about hunters understand how many contradictions there are in this video.
Kim Suhyun mentioned this at the end of the video.
“With a Greatsword of Madness, S-rank with +3 enhancement, you too could do what I did. Look forward to the upcoming auction at Gwangjin Distribution.”
Well, it ended up being an advertisement.
– Yeah right, just farming
– ??: I could farm with a sword too if I had high-level click abilities.
– But you’re SSS+ rank though? lolololol (self-proclaimed)
– How to become a cool hunter: Get SSS+ abilities.
– But is he really SSS+ rank? This looks like a B-rank dungeon. Isn’t this what all S-rank hunters do?
Many comments were posted.
As expected, there were analyses and mixed reactions, and the Hunters community was flooded with hot posts about this video.
But amidst all this, a new hot topic emerged.
– Isn’t this a shot at the KangSpung channel? lol
The link attached to the post showed a video with a similar setup but completely opposite content.
“Do you know what’s important in a dungeon?”
Word for word, the two men in the videos said the same thing, just with different people.
The difference was that Kim Suhyun talked about hunting directly, while Kang Sungjun talked about the flashiness and style of area-of-effect skills.
Comparing the two videos, both contained plausible content.
The video emphasizing flashiness truly demonstrated refreshing spectacle that proved its points, while Kim Suhyun’s video contained content that made everyone acknowledge his clean skill.
However, the timing was somewhat amusing.
He precisely refuted everything Kang Sungjun had said, mocking and even treating it like trash.
He treated Sungjun’s proud ability of refreshing explosions as if he were just a one-trick pony who could only click buttons from behind teammates, and the worst part was that there was no way to refute it.
– It’s funny because it’s true lol
– Yeah, he’s not wrong, is he? Has Kang Sungjun ever solo cleared a dungeon?
– He has lol, a D-rank one lol, and he got heavily criticized for playing like a total coward. He’s all refreshing and bold in B-rank dungeons, but in solo play, he’s timid and cautious lol
With many fans comes many haters.
Sungjun’s detractors seized the opportunity to rush in and leave malicious comments.
“Who the fuck is this guy?”
“…He’s the farmer hunter who’s hot these days. He claims to be SSS+ rank, but hunters estimate he’s probably around S to S+ rank.”
“What bullshit. He’s clearly just a worthless A-rank. Fuck. If you can’t solo a B-rank dungeon with a sword, are you even a hunter? This is such crap.”
And Kang Sungjun was thoroughly provoked by these comments.
