Ch.122The Second Continent’s First City: Aparcart (4)

    A day had passed.

What happened during that day could be described as a one-sided sexual assault by my wife who climbed on top of me while I was unable to move.

“Love me more than the sun, Master. For you, I could even extinguish the sun…”

Taking advantage(?) of my immobility, my wife thoroughly exploited me from above, and thus I achieved the remarkable feat of depleting five bottles of diluted potion throughout the night.

Having lost her father at a young age, and with her husband and master—me—always at the frontlines as a knight who received the sun’s message, she couldn’t help but feel anxious.

Especially in my case, I never had a father to begin with, but in her case, her perfectly healthy father died suddenly, so the shock must have been incomparable.

For my wife, a delicate woman, the prospect of losing her husband whom she would follow for life, like her father, must have approached as extreme terror.

    “S…a…v…e…m…e…”

But regardless of that, wasn’t 105 consecutive sessions of exploitation against an immobile husband a bit too much?

My offspring injector was becoming so worn that pain now exceeded pleasure.

    “Haa… haa…”

    “Uhhh……”

After the 106th act of “marital love” ended, I was waiting for the 107th with the feeling of being buried alive.

    Knock knock!

“Is anyone in there? We’re from the Relief Knights.”

Those who saved me as I was withering away despite being on IV fluids were members of the Relief Knights who arrived early in the morning.

    *

“Tsk tsk tsk… We rushed here when we heard about the divine possession… As expected. The side effects seem quite severe.”

I silently looked at my wife.

She innocently clasped her hands together and looked at me, and the knights who noticed my gaze glanced briefly at my wife but soon lost interest.

Well, it wouldn’t immediately occur to anyone that we had engaged in 106 rounds of marital love day and night, and naturally my miserable appearance would be interpreted as a side effect of divine possession.

That was indeed the main culprit(?), after all.

“Our Relief Knights are principally guardians of the Four Great Gods’ faith… but that doesn’t mean we deny the Two Moons faith. I noticed that at your inauguration ceremony, you were appointed in the name of Nariakira, not Karil, Medina, Logos, or Moneta.”

    I nodded.

“When the crisis occurred a few days ago, we urgently deployed to save Aparcart, but I was honestly a bit surprised to hear that you repelled even the sea god by borrowing the sun’s power. As you know, divine possession doesn’t happen frequently or easily.”

    “Especially possession by the sun.”

The knight who stood with his arms crossed said this while taking out a canteen from his waist to moisten my lips.

    “Ugh…”

    “Can you speak?”

    “A little…”

“Good. These are simple questions, so they shouldn’t be too difficult.”

He said this, then nodded to the knight who was closing the canteen lid.

The knight then took out a recorder, and the knight sitting in front of me placed my hand near my heart.

    Click.

The recording button was pressed, and the knight spoke in a businesslike voice.

“Extinction Era 1200, Month 17, Day 23. 2:13 PM. Knights Marlon Checker and Chase Bellin are taking testimony from Knight Victor Walker regarding the events that occurred on Month 17, Day 22. This is legally valid and a necessary procedure. If the recording of this testimony is refused, all actions taken by Knight Victor Walker in Aparcart will be deemed to lack official credibility.”

I wondered what they were doing, but it seemed to be a procedure for reporting my actions to the knights’ headquarters.

After reciting that long sentence without taking a breath, Marlon Checker brought the recorder closer to me and asked.

“Does Victor Walker consent to the inquiry and recording? The collected information will be submitted to the Relief Knights’ headquarters and may be exposed to an unspecified number of people.”

    “I consent.”

After I expressed my consent, he nodded slightly and took out a notebook from his breast pocket.

It seemed to contain a list of questions for me, and my assumption was soon proven correct.

“Does Victor Walker remember the last moment when he was in complete control of himself?”

    “I do.”

    “When was that moment?”

“During the battle to raise the barrier in the underground parking lot…”

He briefly wrote down my answer in his notebook before continuing to the next question.

“Does Victor Walker remember when the divine possession began?”

    “I do.”

    “When was that moment?”

“When the sea god’s apostles… were praising the abyss’s darkness, anger suddenly welled up inside me, and from deep within my heart, I prayed to the sun to grant me fury and hatred. At that time, I felt a power much greater than what I could normally wield.”

“Were you aware of being divinely possessed at that time?”

“No… At that time, I just thought I had exceeded my limits due to anger. I started losing control of my body a bit later… when I began purifying heretics on the street after leaving the parking lot.”

    “What happened on the street?”

“The sound of people praising me… saying they would follow the knight… follow me. When I heard that, it was like a thread snapping, and from some point, I started losing control. I wasn’t unconscious… but it felt like rambling while drunk.”

As I said this, the knights nodded and quickly wrote something in their notebooks.

“Do you remember when the divine possession ended?”

    “I do.”

    “When was that?”

“When… the sea god sank back into the ocean, and the sun drove away the dark clouds with thunder. The world started to appear clearly again. I remember having a few words with my companions at that time…”

I pointed to my wife, and she nodded.

The knights wrote something briefly and then said to me.

“A wife united under divine name is one body with her husband and cannot be recorded as another’s testimony. With whom exactly did you speak?”

“Simon… the sage of our Iron Walker party and…”

    “Is he nearby now?”

I tried to speak but ran out of strength and couldn’t open my mouth.

Once again, the canteen lid was opened to moisten my dry mouth, and like rain falling in a desert, I brought moisture to my lips and once more opened my mouth to say Simon’s name.

    “Room 505… right next door…”

When I said this, Marlon Checker nodded to Chase Bellin, who handed the recorder to Marlon and took out a spare recorder from his pocket before leaving the room.

Now Simon would go through a similar procedure as me.

“Did Victor Walker hear the sun’s message during the divine possession?”

    “No.”

    Unfortunately.

What I felt at that time was just boundless anger and immeasurable hatred, and infinite compassion for the innocent civilians who fell beneath them.

“This concludes our inquiry. Thank you for your cooperation.”

    Click!

The recording button was pressed again, and the recorder completed its duty after gaining an immeasurably small amount of additional mass.

    “Haaa….”

With the questioning over, my already tired body was on the verge of collapse.

Seeing me like this, Marlon Checker replaced the nearly empty IV fluid and said to my wife.

“Your husband is not yet ready to serve the divine, either physically or mentally. As his wife, take good care of him. May Medina’s blessing be upon you… Oh, in your case, should I invoke Maria’s blessing?”

“Your thoughts are enough. He needs rest now, so please leave.”

My wife spoke to Marlon with a somewhat fierce expression and voice, but Marlon either didn’t notice or chose to ignore it.

In any case, as my wife said, he grabbed the doorknob to leave, but as if just remembering, Marlon looked at me and said.

“Ah, by the way, the Relief Knights have sent you a gift. Something you’ll really like.”

    “A gift…?”

“Yes. Something very fitting for you as an apostle, follower, and knight of the sun. Please check it when you’ve fully recovered.”

    What could it be?

He opened the door and left, and my wife lay down beside me and kissed me.

I trembled with fear that “marital love” would begin again, but fortunately, she fell asleep in my arms, and I patted her back while cursing my physical state that had made me afraid of women, before falling asleep again.

And contrary to the doctors’ prediction that I would be up and about in two days, it took a full week before I could get out of bed.

The reason, of course, was that we (one-sidedly) continued to have marital time throughout that period.
