Ch.121121. Magical Beasts Are Safe Beings

# Monster Beasts Are Safe
Even though it sounds absurd, that’s what I thought.
Of course, objectively speaking, they are dangerous. Not just dangerous—extremely dangerous.
While the people gathered here might not be considered elite, every monster beast here is a creature that could easily take hundreds of lives.
Even weaker monster beasts would be impossible for ordinary people to face.
So why am I saying these dangerous things are safe?
‘Step back, then charge forward with a downward strike. Advance diagonally to the right.’
‘Preparing for a spinning attack. Crouch.’
‘Roar triggered by proximity. Three seconds after it ends, the frontal attack can be parried…’
“Now, right?”
CLANG-!
Their movements are exactly like in the game!
I noticed this the few times I encountered them before, but it’s even more obvious now after fighting actual humans and intelligent demons recently.
Unlike monster beasts, intelligent beings like humans or demons have set techniques, but they change their movements and strategies according to the situation, making their patterns unpredictable.
Since their techniques are similar, it’s not particularly difficult to deal with them, but it can be tiring.
Monster beasts, however, use the techniques and patterns exactly as I know them. They clearly move according to instincts imprinted in them due to their lack of intelligence, which means I can figure out how to avoid their attacks just by watching their movements.
So, I’ll say it again.
Monster beasts are safe.
At least for me.
CLANG-!
CLANG-!
CLANG-!
With each successful parry, a monster beast falls.
I’m not the one defeating them, but… I’m at least assisting.
[Parrying (Additional Effect)]
[Some special effects related to parrying have been added as default settings.]
I’m currently providing support by actively utilizing the additional effects of parrying, which had been neglected since I hadn’t had a chance to use them after my abilities were enhanced.
There’s not much to explain.
Basically, a perfect parry forces the target into a staggered state.
It’s more like a rigid paralysis, actually. Anyway, it’s an overpowered characteristic.
Well, it’s called a “perfect parry,” but I just need to parry normally.
This trait has widened the acceptable range for parrying.
My normal parries now count as perfect parries, and if I mess up slightly, it becomes a regular parry.
This doesn’t make much difference to me since I’ve never failed a parry… but what matters now is the staggering effect itself.
After experimenting on monster beasts a few times, I realized this wasn’t just about physical recoil.
It clearly worked like evasion or parrying—something beyond normal physics.
So… if something uses a pattern I can parry, it falls into an unavoidable rigid state and gets beaten up.
CLANG-!
“Attack now!”
“GRAAAAARGH!!”
Just like that.
I just jump into the middle of combat at the right moment, execute a parry, and the monster beast can’t do anything as it meets its death at the hands of numerous Trier extermination squad members.
I’ve been doing this since I realized the effect of parrying.
I’m helping like this partly because it would take too much time to defeat them alone, but also partly because I’m deliberately trying to stand out.
I never intended to hide my strength, but I felt I needed to leave an even stronger impression than I currently have.
-“However… there’s someone preparing an invasion recently.”
-“Arpatustu?”
-“Yes, that idiot suddenly got fixated on something… Wait? Master, how did you know that name?”
I heard this news from a demon in the Rift recently.
In Arpatustu’s case, it’s an invasion of the Academy, which I could handle sufficiently with my current position. But what’s important is what happens after that invasion.
Once demon invasions start, they continue to happen everywhere. The ambitious ones start moving with the mindset of “I can do better than that.”
And then? They randomly win or lose.
It’s truly vicious. Even if I want to help, I can only increase the win rate in a few specific regions, while everything else remains random.
It’s literally random, so there were people who beat the extreme odds and won everything… but that’s far from my reality.
So I thought this wasn’t something I could do anything about and had given up.
Even in the game, the perspective shifted between different characters by section, making it physically impossible for one person to solve everything.
But… seeing the scenery I passed through today and the people I encountered, I thought:
‘This might actually work.’
In the game, there were limits to the interactions the protagonist could have.
That made sense. Despite having wide freedom and various choices, it was still a game. You couldn’t go beyond the set boundaries.
But now? Those limitations don’t exist for me.
I could confess to Celia right here and elope with her if I wanted.
…Not that I want to. I just thought of it as an example, but it does sound a bit weird.
Anyway. This made a strategy possible.
Expanding my network and then passing information through “communication.”
The first step to make people believe me was to stand out and become famous.
Although I never tried to hide my strength, deliberately showing it off like this was new and felt a bit awkward.
But I had no choice. This would create plausibility for me to get involved in future incidents.
‘…Actually, I don’t really need to go this far.’
Celia, the Imperial Princess, and Alkine, who becomes famous upon graduation. Once I gained the trust of these two, there was no need for me to step forward.
After all, my fame as a mere commoner would be nothing compared to these two.
It might be much easier and more efficient to simply ask Celia, who trusts me, to relay messages to Alkine.
But…
‘Isn’t it a bit much to just ride on their coattails?’
It’s fine for now, but there will be a continuous series of incidents ahead.
If I rely solely on Celia and Alkine for all of those… well, everything would probably be resolved anyway…
No. Still.
I want to be a man who can stand tall among such impressive women.
I should start laying the groundwork now.
Yes. This was also a way to repay their affection.
‘Being a kept man wouldn’t be so bad, but…’
This was the world of a game I loved, so I didn’t feel the need to live that way.
I do like convenience, but there’s a limit. I don’t prefer auto-hunting, after all.
With these thoughts, I wandered around for quite some time and eventually found myself back where I started.
I couldn’t really tell where I was from the scenery alone, but I recognized Celia and Lilith up ahead.
I had just been running wherever I could see, and coincidentally my homing instinct seemed to have activated.
By now, my presence should have made some impression.
With that thought, I approached where Celia was.
Celia reacted calmly, as if she had known I was coming all along.
“You’re back?”
“Haa… haa…”
But Lilith beside her looked quite exhausted.
It was obvious that Celia had run her ragged, but I decided to ask anyway.
“Why is she in that state?”
“She doesn’t exercise regularly.”
That would give Celia something else to tease her about.
“HAAK! HAAAK!”
Lilith reacted violently to Celia’s words.
She’s not a cat, but she’s hissing.
The fierce predator Lilith, unable to contain her anger, launched a flurry of punches at Celia, but they bounced off the mana surrounding Celia’s body.
For some reason, she flew toward me, and I caught her.
“…! I didn’t send her your way on purpose! Besides, why did you catch her?”
…I got scolded.
Normally I would have let her balance herself, but she looked like she was about to collapse. Just look at her face. It wouldn’t be surprising if she fell over right now…
“…Let go.”
She makes a fuss even when I help her.
“This is truly pathetic.”
“Ludion has no right to say such things in front of us.”
“I agree with that.”
“…?”
Now I’m getting lectured by this combination.
It felt quite fresh since I hadn’t seen them working together recently.
Well… it seems Lilith had to suffer for this teamwork to happen.
Leaving Lilith, who was still breathing heavily, to rest for a moment, I spoke to Celia.
“Didn’t you say you had a lot to talk about with her? She can’t even have a conversation in this state.”
But Celia looked slightly annoyed at that question and glanced at Lilith.
“We’ve already finished talking about that. Right?”
When I looked at Lilith after hearing that, she just turned her head away, avoiding my gaze without any intention of explaining.
Right. Of course. I never intended to dig deeper anyway.
Just as I decided not to ask anything more…
“Ludion.”
Celia called my name.
When I reflexively looked at her, I saw that Celia’s face was redder than usual.
Why? Recently she had become so shameless that she would only be happy, not embarrassed, by most words or actions.
To my puzzled self, Celia plainly said one thing.
It was something I never expected.
“Shall we date?”
“…Huh?”
“I was going to wait, but as Lilith said… No, never mind that. Let’s get engaged.”
Uh…
Huh?
“Huh?”
“If you’re going to make such a stupid expression, please answer first.”
I, Ludion.
Just got confessed to by Celia.
I mean, I briefly thought about confessing and eloping earlier, but I really didn’t expect this.
“Hey! Monster! There’s a monster! Let’s deal with that first!!”
Lilith beside me started shouting urgently about something, but my mind had already checked out, and I couldn’t hear her.
