‘What? What is this, seriously?’
Lately, I’d been experiencing so many absurd situations that I prided myself on developing a certain immunity to shock.
But even so, I had no way of understanding why 820,000 points had suddenly been added to my score.
My brain seemed to refuse to process the information despite the ranking chart displayed right in front of me.
Fortunately, as if anticipating my confusion, a new notification message appeared before my eyes.
—————————————-
<Notice for Commander Icarus.>
<We have confirmed that points were not properly awarded in your PVP battle with Commander “Betelgeuse”.>
<After thoroughly investigating this potential error, the operations team has determined:>
<The points were not given to you but were instead awarded to the Pirate Empress Marian.>
<We have returned a portion of the excessive points to Commander Betelgeuse, while the remainder has been fully included in your score.>
—————————————-
“Wow.”
“Wow.”
After receiving that message, both Jessica and I understood what had happened.
“So… Betelgeuse… the Loki Clan leader’s points were being held by Marian?”
“Marian couldn’t have used any point transfer function to you, Commander, and she probably didn’t even know about the points’ existence.”
“Wow.”
With such an unexpectedly large number of points being transferred at once.
Originally, I might have been in the top 50%, but certainly not in the top 10.

… … … … … …
<100th. Amazon : 699,934 points>
—————————————-
Despite having so few points that I wouldn’t have even made it into the top 100 as I discovered while scrolling down,
Thanks to suddenly sucking up 820,000 points from the Loki Clan leader,
I once again maintained 3rd place through sheer luck(?), which left me with complicated feelings.
But regardless, securing 3rd place twice in a row was a significant achievement.
After offering a bow of gratitude to Loki Clan leader, Ms. Betelgeuse, who was like a giving tree that had handed over more than a third of her points—along with ship experience and proficiency for my crew—
I decided to open the community window to check the gallery’s reaction to the ranking announcement.
==========
Meanwhile, at the same time, in Betelgeuse’s base command center at the heart of the Loki Clan…
“DAAAAMN IIIIIIT!!!”
“Commander, please calm down first…”
Despite suffering all sorts of indignities at Marian’s hands, Betelgeuse had managed to return safely with the system’s help.
Now she was thrashing about in her command seat, wailing uncontrollably at the fact that she had ended up in 6th place when she should have comfortably secured 2nd.
As she was wailing, her abdomen accidentally struck the armrest of her command seat.
“Higuuh…♡”
“C-Commander?!”
With that strange sound and her whole body trembling oddly,
The adjutant who had served his—no, her—commander for a lifetime, known for her relaxed demeanor and wicked intelligence, could only feel bewilderment at seeing her in such a miserable state.
And at the exact moment Betelgeuse was crying out from Marian’s abdominal punch training(?)…

Title: Brought comparison with previous rankings

1. Pandolearningphile
2. Raksha
3. Icarus
4. Arcadia
5. Tteokbokki
6. Murim Dry
7. Betelgeuse
8. Arto
9. Mosquitodiediedied
10. Bosnia Pull Out
These were the previous rankings for 1st-10th place
1. Antares
2. Raksha
3. Icarus
4. Arcadia
5. Laura
6. Betelgeuse
7. Indefatigable
8. Shaolin Monk
9. Arto
10. Menaldu
These are the current rankings
Looking at this, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places stayed the same, 7th rose to 6th
8th dropped to 9th but stayed in the top 10
The rest aren’t even in the top 100, let alone the top 10
Seeing that the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places that were the starting point back then are all still holding their positions
I’m suspiciously thinking they planned this strategy from the beginning and just endured

-[This is gorosi]

‘This is literally just gorosi.’
Seeing the ranking gorosi as soon as I opened the gallery, I wondered if this was that “bug-filled gorosi” or whatever it was called.
But that thought quickly faded when I saw an “explanation post about ranking points” that had been uploaded.

Title: Points are lower than expected in this ranking EU.
Author: Indefatigable
Content: [Screenshot of fleets battling]
There are several reasons, but to summarize briefly:
Fleet loss rate during quest completion was higher than expected
Event shop prices were insanely expensive, with just one cruiser-class ship costing nearly 200,000 points, but considering the loss rate, you had to buy ships from the shop whether you liked it or not
If you try to hold out without buying from the shop? Since the locations of rankers in the top 1000 were generally known, you’d have your base completely stripped by opposing rankers who bought full fleets from the shop
So when everyone’s doing this, fleet battles happen frequently
In this process, when ships bought from the shop get destroyed, you have to resupply them with points, roll gacha to match superhuman pools, and so on
Inevitably, the point consumption rate skyrocketed
Just for me, I collected about 5.5 million points during the two months of the event
But I blew over 4 million of them in the shop
Anyway, that’s how it is
3-line summary:
1. Due to the event structure, someone who just hoards points gets torn apart by someone who strengthened their fleet by spending points
2. If you don’t want to fail, you have to maintain a strong fleet by spending tons of points
3. So due to fleet battles and various reasons, everyone’s point consumption rate was so severe that the scores are really low
Comments:
-[Appreciate the explanation from the person involved]
-[So blindly hoarding doesn’t work after all]
-[Then how did 1st place collect over 3 million while all this was happening?]
-˪[If I knew that reason, wouldn’t I be in 1st place instead of 7th?](Author)
-˪[True, agreed]

With someone who actually made it into the top 10 providing their interpretation of the situation,
Most users were either expressing agreement or nodding along as they finally understood.
And suddenly in the gallery, after the 7th place Indefatigable’s verification,
An atmosphere of people randomly sharing stories about how difficult it was for them to collect points was about to emerge.
But just 3 minutes after this atmosphere began to develop…

-[So are these top 10 people our faction members?](95,151)

Due to someone’s passing comment that seemed to come from a sudden realization,
The gallery users remembered what the “purpose” of this event was.
And they began to show a truly tremendous reaction, like plasma in a nuclear fusion reactor.
