I felt a momentary unease at the announcement that seemed somewhat different from usual.

Unlike the others in this base, Jessica, who uniquely could see the status window, checked the announcement that had made me uneasy.

After a short while, she shrugged her rabbit ears and shoulders as if it was nothing and spoke to me.

“Well, it looks like it was written by someone different than usual, don’t you think?”

“Hmm… that’s certainly true.”

Realizing I was overthinking things, I carefully examined the update content once more.

“So the rankings will be revealed in an hour… that’s it.”

“Yep.”

“Hmm, I hope we at least make it into the top 40-50%.”

“I know, even that much would somewhat make up for all the hardships we went through during this event.”

After some small talk with Jessica,

I immediately opened the gallery to see how our user friends were reacting to the update.

And sure enough, our users were showing the expected reactions regardless of age or gender.

These guys were initially going to proceed as planned without thinking

But at the last minute they screwed up and had errors with the update processing

So when they rushed to fix that first, they realized they were running behind schedule

And they were like “Oh shit, we’re screwed” so they hurriedly extended the time

If they extend it again from here, it’ll be legendary, right?

As the gallery users collectively whined while waiting for the update to proceed,

I too was sitting in the command seat, waiting for the event message that would appear in a few dozen seconds.

“This is quite an exciting moment, isn’t it?”

“Yes, Commander.”

Although we couldn’t get a good estimate of the average points users had in the gallery since everyone had stopped updating at some point,

I was confident that we would at least make it into the top 50% range, even by conservative estimates.

So with a cheap-sounding notification tone that went “ding,”

I decided to check the “Ranking” section first in the update notice that popped up before my eyes.

But at that moment…
