Ch.111The One Who Left (1)
by fnovelpia
A terribly exhausting morning arrived. And along with it, several facts came to mind.
Leo had turned into a traitor, and now there was about a week left until the Demon King would arrive, and probably everyone knew about Leo’s past.
I think I did something unnecessary. If I had just stayed quiet from the beginning, none of this would have happened.
But time is truly cruel, never giving back what has already passed.
So regretting like this doesn’t help at all. I know this in my head, but I can’t seem to put it into practice.
Whatever the case, things ended up this way because of me, but I don’t have the power to fix anything.
Even if I didn’t regret it, is there anything I could change? What am I supposed to do with this pathetically weak body?
While I was repeating this meaningless self-hatred, someone rang the doorbell.
I tied the ribbon around my neck again and went to open the door. There was Agath, smiling awkwardly.
“Lite? Let’s quickly pack up and get ready to flee from here.”
“Flee from here?”
“I don’t know how many traitors might be hiding here. They might be targeting us even now.”
“That’s probably needless worry. If they were targeting us, I would have been attacked long ago.”
If people were really targeting me, they could easily kill someone like me if they wanted to. But that would be completely useless. Even if I disappeared, it wouldn’t make much difference to their forces.
“You’ve nearly died at least five times already.”
“…Really?”
“If it weren’t for the new hero, you would have already been killed or kidnapped. So go thank him later.”
So I’ve been constantly receiving someone’s help even while I was sleeping. I’m truly disgustingly useless.
The reason enemies are targeting me is probably because of Ju-an. They’re likely trying to use our friendship for something.
“But the enemies are suddenly moving actively.”
“That’s natural since Leo turned into a traitor. So let’s quickly pack up and leave. Dad will find and deal with all the traitors here, so we can just leave without worry.”
As soon as Agath mentioned Leo, her face contorted slightly. She must have been quite shocked too.
“…Are you okay?”
“I’m fine. My dad is incredibly strong, at least within the Holy Nation. So we should be more worried about the enemies.”
“No, I was asking if you were okay.”
After my question, there was a rather long silence before Agath forced a smile and said:
“Can I pounce on you?”
It was clearly the same words as usual, but they didn’t have the usual playful atmosphere.
“They say silence means consent, so I can pounce on you, right?”
Agath said with an incredibly sad smile. And I looked down at the floor and somehow managed to squeeze out an apology.
“I’m sorry…”
“…I’m fine, I’m just a little hurt. I’ll wait downstairs, so hurry up and pack your things.”
With that, Agath quickly left. And after a slight pause, I followed the path she had taken.
Since I didn’t bring anything when I came here, it makes sense not to take anything when I leave.
And there might be listening devices or something like that among the things they provided. So to be cautious, I’ll just leave everything behind.
With such thoughts, I arrived downstairs to find everyone already there, all emanating a dark atmosphere.
By the way, Leo isn’t here yet… no, everyone’s here.
Because of my unnecessary thoughts, my mood became even more depressed. But there was one person who seemed fine.
“Are you okay?”
Taeyang didn’t seem sad at all. Or maybe he was hypnotizing himself?
“I… regret what happened yesterday.”
“No, I’m talking about you.”
“Well… I didn’t really have any relationship with the previous hero…”
I hadn’t thought about the fact that Taeyang and Leo had no connection. I assumed they would have become close during this past week…
There’s no way a relationship would form between someone who only researches magic in his room and someone who doesn’t want to leave his room.
That might actually be better. At least if there’s no friendship, they would never feel these emotions.
While I was enviously looking at Taeyang, who seemed to have the most peace of mind among us, he suddenly spoke like a criminal:
“No, I’m truly sorry too. But we didn’t have a relationship… no, never mind. I’m sorry.”
Taeyang quickly cut off his words and started observing the surroundings again. It must be tiring when everyone around you is in a miserable mood but you’re fine.
Anyway, after this awkward atmosphere continued for a while, Yongin took out a scroll and said:
“Then let’s move.”
Suddenly, the scenery before my eyes changed to some huge building. And Yongin asked Ju-an in a quite lifeless voice:
“Is this place really safe?”
“Honestly, I’m not sure either. But the guild master is definitely trustworthy.”
“Then I’ll trust you. So where do we go?”
“I’ll explain to the guild master and come back, so please wait here.”
Ju-an left us in the lobby of this building and went somewhere. This must be the guild where Ju-an stays.
But predictions can always be wrong. So I asked Ha-eun, who seemed to know about the situation:
“Can you explain the current situation?”
“We were looking for a place to stay and finally decided to stay here.”
“Why here of all places?”
“Because there are already many hidden traitors in the Holy Nation, and other places have too weak security.”
They say I nearly died five times even in the Holy Nation. So at home, it would be even worse, not better.
While thinking about that and continuing to look down at the floor, Ha-eun suddenly said in a serious voice:
“…Senior, you’re leaking.”
“What suddenly?”
“Um… can you look down below?”
I followed Ha-eun’s words and looked down at my legs. I saw blood flowing down my knees.
“…What is this?”
Besides the blood flowing down, I also feel some pain in my abdomen and my body feels a bit tired. Could this be a reaction to using up my lifespan?
I have been pushing my body quite hard recently. If I had known this would happen, I should have saved my lifespan…
No, in those situations, I would have been in big trouble if I hadn’t used my lifespan, so it couldn’t be helped.
Is this some divine punishment for me? No, the Goddess doesn’t have enough power to inflict divine punishment, so that’s impossible.
While I was confused about the sudden abnormality in my body, the orange-haired one looked at me strangely and said:
“Anyone can see you’ve got your period. You must have experienced this many times before, so why are you acting like this?”
Fortunately, there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with my body. I still have some time before I die.
Just as I was about to sigh in relief, I faced another huge problem.
“Um… what do you usually do when you get your period?”
“You should know better than me. How can you not know about that at your age?”
It’s natural not to know. Why would boys, who never get periods, need to know about such things?
Besides, there were hardly any girls around me. So there was no way for me to know about periods.
But that tactless, unpleasant, and rude orange-haired person doesn’t know that fact, so she’s running her mouth like that. She’s always so annoying.
Let’s find someone who can help with this situation. First, Agath…
…That really doesn’t seem right, so let’s just get help from Rebecca.
With that thought, I turned my eyes to Rebecca, only to see her standing blankly with an extremely dark expression.
Should I really ask Agath for help? But if I do that, things will definitely go in a strange direction…
But it feels awkward to ask others for help. Besides the office people, I don’t have many friends of the same gender… opposite gender…? What should I call it…
Anyway, I don’t have many friends who are the same gender as me. So it’s a bit difficult to ask for help.
While I was wondering if I should really ask Agath for help, my eyes met Ha-eun’s beside me.
“…Can you help me?”
“Okay, but do you know if there’s a convenience store nearby?”
“I think if you go straight that way, you’ll find one?”
Ha-eun was about to send her clone to the convenience store over there, but suddenly the orange-haired one blocked the clone’s path and said:
“If you go to the guild supply area over there, they’ll give you sanitary pads. So just get them from there.”
I thought she would tell me to solve it on my own and give some strange lecture. But surprisingly, she offered help.
“…It’s strange to hear such words from your mouth.”
“What about me?”
“Nothing. Just that you’re less rude.”
“At least not as much as you.”
That orange-haired one is still rude. Was I mistaken earlier?
That’s that and this is this. So let me just express my gratitude. There’s no harm in doing so.
“Still, I’ll say thank you.”
Now that I’ve expressed my gratitude, let’s quickly resolve this situation.
“Ha-eun, so what do I do now?”
“First, follow me to the bathroom.”
So I followed Ha-eun to the bathroom. Really, all sorts of things have been happening lately.
