Ch.111Rebirth Begins with Destruction (4)
by fnovelpia
Khan opened his four eyes slowly as he suffered from auditory and visual hallucinations once again, staring at the half-naked pervert riding a unicorn with a broken horn who was attacking him.
He had thought those two died in the aftermath of the meteorite, but…
Judging by the fact that he could only see that pervert and the unicorn, it seemed they had survived either through the sacrifice of their other companions or by protecting only themselves and the unicorn.
“Wrath, is that right? You were speaking human language fluently earlier. Let’s talk for a moment. Why have you committed these killings?”
The pervert aimed a gray spear—different from before—at him, but Khan remained silent.
Crack—!!
Thunder roared across the battlefield as if to say the only answer was death.
Jerome, knowing well that sound meant Khan was about to move, kicked off the ground and leaped upward.
Boom—!!!
The earth screamed as Jerome launched himself. Glancing down, he saw Khan with his fist buried in the ground where he had just been.
[One hit and I’m dead. Lepin, can you keep using that Chaos power?]
“I can’t use it too frequently. Fortunately, I don’t have side effects like Cardinal Baxter, but… I’m still not familiar with this magi.”
[Then keep attacking with something that has high penetration power. I’ll focus on evasion.]
“Understood.”
With those words, black and light orbs appeared in the air simultaneously, with only one orb glowing gray.
“Go!”
Zing—
Nine orbs launched at Khan, firing black, white, and gray beams that darted around rapidly, disorienting his vision.
Crack—!
Khan countered these beam attacks by discharging lightning from his entire body. Neither the black orbs’ magi beams nor the white orbs’ divine power beams could penetrate the lightning. Eight beams failed to break through, destroying the surrounding ground instead…
But the gray beam pierced through the lightning and grazed Khan’s side. Where the beam had passed, his flesh smoked as if burned away, revealing the muscles beneath his skin.
“Mmm…”
Such penetrating power that could pierce his hide, and regeneration-suppressing ability that prevented proper healing despite his self-regeneration capabilities.
“Aaaah! Khan, kill that bitch! Kill her—! Just kill that woman!”
And above Khan’s head flew a fairy wrapped in green flames, with chunks of flesh dropping off—Mary’s apparition circling overhead, screaming for him to kill.
Glancing briefly at Mary’s vision flying above his head, Khan struck down lightning and hurled rocks.
Boom—!!!
Black lightning fell from the sky, not ending with a single strike but raining down everywhere to block Jerome’s escape routes. The rocks Khan threw targeted Jerome whenever he paused even slightly.
The Hero defended against the attacks using divine power and magi, and when evasion was impossible, used the power of Chaos to penetrate Khan’s attacks, but the exchange was uneven.
Unlike the Hero and Jerome who were desperately evading, Khan barely moved from his position, casually controlling rocks and lightning to face them with complete ease.
While the Hero was frantically dodging, Khan grabbed stones, wrapped them in lightning, and threw them at supersonic speeds, shooting down eight orbs. To destroy the remaining gray orb, he hurled a stone wrapped in black light, knocking it to the ground.
“Kyah—!”
After shooting down all the orbs but still unable to catch them, Khan decided to take direct action. He used the power of Wrath to enlarge just one arm, swinging it at the Hero in a manner reminiscent of his past form that had stretched for several kilometers.
Whoosh—!!!
With the sound of air being torn, Khan’s massive arm sent all remaining debris on the barren land flying.
Khan’s giant arm, descending upon the Hero and Jerome, moved surprisingly fast despite its size, while rocks and lightning blocked their escape routes.
“Chaos Spear—!!”
The Hero pulled out a massive spear large enough for herself and Jerome to escape through. Despite feeling ominous about this spear filled with Chaos power, Jerome kicked toward the sky at full speed to pierce through the arm.
Bang—!!
A sonic boom erupted from Jerome’s kick as he launched himself to pierce through the relatively thin palm.
Hiss—
Black light rose from Khan’s hand, enveloping it.
“Cardinal Baxter’s Chaos… I’ll pierce through that evil power in one go—!!”
Jerome and the Hero advanced, trusting in Chaos power. Now, the Hero’s Chaos Spear met Khan’s black light.
Boom—!!
“What…!”
But the black light surrounding Khan’s hand wasn’t penetrated by Chaos. Rather, it was overwhelming the power of Chaos.
The Hero desperately added rotation to increase penetration power, but while they struggled to pierce Khan’s palm, Khan shrank his arm and instantly moved in front of them.
“Jerome!”
[Ugh—!?]
They tried to retreat immediately upon seeing Khan, but Khan wasn’t one to let Jerome escape at such close range.
Crack—!
He gathered lightning from around them to block Jerome’s escape, and black lightning successfully bound Jerome’s four legs and neck, preventing him from fleeing.
“Jerome—!”
“So you are Jerome. Then die.”
Crack—!
Somehow, Khan now held an axe made of black lightning. This axe, matching Khan’s size and infused with black light to counter the Hero’s Chaos, was something even the Hero couldn’t block.
‘Is this how I meet my end…’
They say time slows down when you’re about to die, allowing you to see your entire life at a glance.
It had been ten years since he fell onto this continent of Grancia, and those ten years flashed before his eyes in an instant.
His first hunt as a unicorn, his first visit to a human village where he killed those who weren’t virgins, and then living while avoiding humans, hunting monsters until meeting Hero Lepin and becoming her mount.
He wasn’t sure why he couldn’t remember anything before falling into this world, but thinking these were good memories, he arched his back to throw the Hero off to save at least her when—
“Jerome…! We will not die by your hand—!”
Crack—!!
The Hero strengthened her body with Chaos power and quickly created a Chaos spear to block the attack.
As a result, Lepin’s arm trembled as if about to break under Khan’s power, but Heroes are indomitable beings. As long as their will doesn’t break, neither do they. The spear composed of Chaos power successfully received Khan’s lightning axe infused with divine power.
Of course, the sheer force of Khan’s power made her bounce up and down like on a trampoline, and in that gap she tried to use a Chaos orb to cut the lightning binding Jerome’s four legs…
But the lightning, as if a sentient being, dodged the Chaos orbs skillfully, never allowing contact.
Realizing this was futile, she used a Chaos orb lying on the ground to attack Khan.
This was a killing blow.
She aimed for his back, beyond the reach of Khan’s four eyes.
Her target: the heart.
She didn’t aim for the head as it could be dodged, but the heart, which posed less risk even if missed. Just as the gray orb was about to make contact with Khan—
Crack—!
“How—!”
Khan precisely covered the exact spot the gray orb was targeting with black light.
Though she had clearly aimed for his blind spot, something like instinct had risen to save Khan, causing the Hero to cry out in disbelief…
But Khan paid no attention.
He simply applied more force to kill this woman who had momentarily blocked his attack.
Roar—!!
This time, with the full intention to kill, Khan summoned dozens of lightning-wrapped spears in the air while pulling stone spears from the ground, and swung his axe made of black light.
Even as the Hero tried to block, black lightning and the axe approached her and Jerome very quickly, with stone spears rising from below.
As attacks impossible to evade poured down, and the Hero tried to create a barrier using Chaos power like Cardinal Baxter had done—
Thump!
“Huh…?”
Jerome, determined to save the Hero on his back, used divine power to push her off, dropping her to the ground.
[Live, Lepin. This monster is after me. Forget everything about me and flee from this monster.]
“Jerome——!!”
Crack—
The axe of black light split Jerome’s body in half, dozens of lightning bolts burned his body, and stone spears skewered his burning corpse like a kebab.
His pure white mane was completely burned, emitting black smoke, and his body, now split in two, soaked the ground with the sacred blood of a holy beast.
“Je…rome…!”
Then Khan exploded the stone spears embedded in Jerome’s corpse, tearing it to shreds and scattering the pieces everywhere.
“Ah…!! Aah…!!! Uwaaaaah…!!!”
And from the body of the Hero who witnessed this death, gloomy magi and divine light power combined to continuously emit a gray light that was completely devastating the ground.
