Ch.111Chapter 111. Situation Summary (1)
by fnovelpia
“What is this…”
Ordin couldn’t hide his confusion.
At first, he thought it was an illusion-type magic.
It might be prejudice, but he had always assumed Black Magic would be more advanced in mental manipulation spells.
However, as time passed, Ordin clearly realized that he wasn’t under the influence of any spell.
There was no problem with his mana circulation, and his senses remained perfectly intact.
In this situation, the most realistic assumption Ordin could make was that he had been forcibly teleported to another location.
Of course, even that was realistically impossible.
‘This place is ridiculously far from O’Neil.’
This was the only thing Ordin had figured out since arriving here.
His current location was extremely far from the O’Neil Kingdom.
First, the air felt different against his skin, and he couldn’t detect any familiar mana.
Moreover, the landscape before him was unlike anything imaginable in or near the O’Neil Kingdom.
Unfamiliar tree formations and a vast open sea in the distance.
It was a beautiful sight that Ordin would have stopped to admire if he weren’t in a combat situation.
Thud- Thud- Creak-
After looking around for quite some time, Ordin finally opened the door of the mansion in front of him.
It was the first building he’d seen after being forcibly transported here, but he had been cautious about moving around carelessly.
It could be an enemy trap, after all.
But now he was too frustrated to keep being cautious just because it might be a trap.
He had called out earlier, but there was no answer from inside, and he couldn’t sense anyone’s presence.
Ordin gripped his sword tightly and looked around the mansion through the open door.
Thud- Thud-
‘Ordinary… no, luxurious.’
It was too elegant to be called ordinary—all the furniture and interior decorations were high-end.
As the Knight Commander of the O’Neil Kingdom who frequented the royal palace, Ordin could tell.
The ornaments and paintings here would not look out of place in the royal palace.
‘Strange to find such a house in such a remote location.’
Shing- Clack-
After venturing deep into the mansion without sensing anyone’s presence, Ordin sheathed his sword.
It seemed no one was in this house.
It was hard to believe that such a luxurious mansion had no caretaker.
Still maintaining his vigilance, Ordin explored the house and climbed the stairs.
It wasn’t enormously large, but it was quite a sizeable mansion.
As if entranced, Ordin made his way to the top floor, the fifth floor.
As soon as he reached the fifth floor, he opened the door and went outside.
“Wow.”
An exclamation of admiration escaped Ordin’s lips.
It was truly a spectacular view.
The scenery was already beautiful and pretty from outside the mansion, but from here, its beauty was magnified.
The open sea along with the visible city.
The deep green forest contrasting with the blue sky.
All these elements harmonized in a single scene.
It was a magnificent landscape that naturally evoked admiration.
‘That architectural style…’
After being lost in the scenery for a while, Ordin finally came to his senses.
He hadn’t come here to admire the view.
Ordin quickly looked for clues by examining the buildings visible near the sea.
The architectural style he was seeing was definitely not that of the O’Neil Kingdom.
This style of architecture…
“The west…?”
There was a high probability that this was the western part of the continent.
The city near the sea also supported Ordin’s assumption.
On the Arcaria Continent, only the western region had the environment suitable for building houses near the sea.
‘From the O’Neil Kingdom… I came to the western part of the continent in the blink of an eye?’
That’s what the visible situation suggested, but Ordin couldn’t easily accept it.
In Ordin’s common sense, there was no spatial movement magic capable of such ultra-long-distance transportation.
Even if it were possible, it would require numerous magicians preparing and casting spells meticulously for days.
“This is… impossible.”
Ordin muttered to himself while unable to take his eyes off the distant scenery.
There was a table and chair placed in front of him.
As if inviting him to sit and enjoy the view.
“Well! You found the perfect spot right away.”
Shing-
“Who’s there!”
Ordin was startled by the sudden voice behind him and drew his sword.
But he loosened his grip slightly when he saw who had appeared.
It was the Black Shadow Corps commander who had appeared silently behind him.
The commander wasn’t holding any weapons and showed no killing intent.
“I’m a bit late, aren’t I?”
“You, you… What is all this about!”
“Just sent you on a little sightseeing tour. How is it? Nice place, right?”
“How can you say that in this situation…”
Ordin hesitated on how to deal with the Black Shadow Corps commander who was calmly admiring the scenery.
The Black Shadow Corps commander was clearly a criminal who had stolen the O’Neil Kingdom’s greatest treasure several years ago.
He was a clear enemy and a top-class wanted person, but Ordin recalled what this guy had said earlier.
A temporary alliance formed to defeat the enemy that had appeared and to rescue the student from Crescen.
“What happened to him? The student?”
“Ah, everything ended well.”
“Huh?”
Thud-
“Phew…”
Ordin was at a loss for words as he watched the Black Shadow Corps commander sit down in the chair and let out a long sigh as if everything was natural.
Did “everything ended well” mean that the enemy was defeated and the student was rescued?
“But I’m a bit tired, you know.”
“What do you mean?”
“Could you go and finish things up?”
“Hmm?”
Tap- Flinch-
Ordin didn’t hastily swing his sword even when the Black Shadow Corps commander placed a hand on his shoulder.
Woong-
Simultaneously, Ordin felt his body float and noticed the surroundings changing again.
The nausea was less intense than when he first arrived here, but it was definitely noticeable.
“That student should already be back in the kingdom.”
“Ah…”
Ordin’s eyes were drawn to the person collapsed in front of him rather than the commander’s words.
Ordin immediately recognized the man lying face down in a mess.
It was the same person who had confronted them earlier.
The one who had annihilated the Silver Eagles and emitted a powerful aura with his intricate magic.
“Please?”
“Wait a moment!”
Woong-
Before Ordin could say anything more, the Black Shadow Corps commander disappeared.
Ordin quickly abandoned any lingering thoughts about the vanished commander and approached the collapsed man.
‘Did he really defeat this guy alone?’
It was hard to believe, but the man collapsed in front of him was real.
The man hadn’t lost his life but was completely unconscious.
Swish-
Ordin turned over the man who was lying face down.
It was a middle-aged man with his eyes closed in a pained expression.
Someone he had definitely seen somewhere before.
‘This person is…’
Ordin calmly tried to recall where he had seen this familiar face.
All while tying up the fallen man’s arms.
**
Woong-
“Ahhhh.”
Thud-
Fatigue washed over me the moment I sat down in the villa chair.
It had been a long time since I felt this kind of dizziness that drained all strength from my body.
‘This is definitely tough.’
After barely managing to bring Commander Ordin to handle the situation, the tension in my body completely dissipated.
That’s probably why I felt even dizzier.
Once I took the First Elder to the island, the battle was surprisingly quick.
The reason the First Elder had been troublesome was because we fought in a place of his choosing.
A place filled with numerous spells and dormant mana that he had selected.
I wasn’t confident I could win if we fought away from there.
Physical attacks were practically ineffective against me anyway.
‘I’m sleepy…’
After dizziness came drowsiness.
Naturally, the First Elder didn’t immediately give up just because I dragged him to the island.
The island where I forcibly transported the First Elder.
That place was a kind of dumping ground where I usually redirected attacks I received.
Anyway, my technique wasn’t about absorbing physical attacks, but rather transferring attacks through space to another location when they hit me.
That’s why I needed a place to safely absorb and discharge powerful attacks.
‘The island was quite damaged, probably because of the Black Magic.’
And that place was the island from earlier.
An island so damaged from receiving countless attacks that it would be no exaggeration to say there wasn’t a single intact spot left.
It seemed even more damaged than I remembered, probably due to all the Black Magic attacks it had recently absorbed.
The trees had either rotted or withered because of that fog earlier.
“Mmm.”
I was so tired that my eyes closed automatically just sitting there.
My mind knew I should return to my lodgings in the O’Neil Kingdom before falling asleep, but my body wouldn’t cooperate.
‘Ugh, I don’t care anymore.’
I finally gave up.
Anyway, I had rescued Elaine, and Ordin would take care of the First Elder.
I had confirmed that the First Elder was definitely unconscious.
In my current state, I lacked the will to change clothes, teleport to the O’Neil Kingdom without being detected, and then enter my lodgings.
‘If he had resisted a little less, I wouldn’t be this tired…’
Honestly, I didn’t expect him to resist that much in a situation where he had no chance of winning.
As I pondered these thoughts, I couldn’t resist any longer.
I couldn’t remember the last time my eyelids felt this heavy.
‘I’ll just take a quick nap before going.’
As I relaxed my mind, my eyes closed immediately.
