Ch. 111 Munchkin – Chapter 111
by AfuhfuihgsChapter 111
Lucy drew the curtains shut again.
Thwack.
The room darkened instantly.
A small candle cast a long shadow on the wall.
In the silent darkness, the faint light gently caressed the outlines of the two figures.
“Let’s begin the ritual now.”
Lucy said softly.
Charlotte’s eyes widened.
“Oh, really…?”
She seemed surprised that Lucy would actually go through with it.
But soon, she nodded with a determined look.
“Yes, let’s do it…”
Lucy smiled and asked.
“You do know what a witch’s ritual entails, right?”
Charlotte’s gaze momentarily dropped.
“O-Of course… it’s basic knowledge for any witch…”
“First, we need to share body heat. That’s how magic flows.”
Lucy sat on the bed.
“Sit on my lap, facing me.”
“O-On your lap…?”
Charlotte flinched in surprise.
Lucy’s eyes narrowed.
“You don’t mean you don’t know, do you?”
Charlotte shook her head, startled.
“Ah-I know! Of course, I know!”
She slowly climbed onto Lucy’s lap.
Spreading her legs, she gently sat on Lucy’s knees, facing her.
Charlotte’s buttocks touched her knees, conveying a soft and squishy sensation.
Lucy opened her mouth with satisfaction.
“Now, let’s share body heat.”
“H-How?”
“Don’t tell me you don’t know…?”
“Ah-I do know… I just can’t recall it for a moment… I-Is it like this…?”
Charlotte stretched out her arms and embraced Lucy.
Charlotte’s body was trembling slightly.
Lucy slowly embraced her in return, resting her head on her shoulder.
‘Warm…’
But Lucy soon shook her head.
“No… that’s not it.”
Charlotte flinched.
“I-It’s not…?”
“No.”
“Then what is it…? I knew it… why can’t I remember…”
Lucy stifled a laugh and said.
“We have to kiss.”
“…!”
Charlotte’s pupils dilated.
Her face flushed instantly.
Lucy put on an unconcerned expression.
“Of course, it’s nothing weird. This is just a ritual, after all.”
Charlotte took a breath and nodded slightly.
“T-That’s right. It’s just a ritual…”
“Come closer.”
Charlotte slowly tilted her head.
Her eyelids trembled.
There was a faint, sweet scent in the air.
“Closer…”
“Umm…”
Their lips touched.
A moist sensation.
Charlotte flinched for a moment but soon closed her eyes quietly.
She remained still.
After a moment, Lucy slowly pulled away.
“Okay. The ritual is over. Do you feel anything?”
“Um… I think I feel something… Can I… get up now?”
“No. It’ll all be for nothing if you get up now.”
“Ah…?”
“Now is the point of magical resonance. If this flow is interrupted, the magic will dissipate.”
Charlotte fidgeted, maintaining her position.
Her buttocks rested on Lucy’s knees, her face flushed red, and her gaze darted around.
Lucy suddenly noticed the necklace around Charlotte’s neck.
“That’s a pretty necklace.”
A sparkling crystal pendant.
Charlotte lowered her gaze.
“This… my mother gave it to me.”
A quiet voice.
“When I was little, my mother gave this to me and said, ‘You will become a very special child someday’…”
“…”
Lucy’s pupils trembled slightly.
She felt guilty for playing around under the guise of a ritual.
“…I’m sorry, Charlotte.”
“H-Huh? What for…?”
“Just… for everything…”
Charlotte bit her lip and lowered her head deeply.
Her small hands clutched the hem of her dress on her lap.
Her body began to tremble quietly.
As if trying to suppress her sobs.
“I, I…”
Charlotte opened her mouth.
“I became a special child, just like my mother said…”
Each word was uttered with great emphasis.
“Because I became a witch… My mother and father… went to another dimension… but they will send a signal someday… they definitely will…”
Charlotte’s words were filled with hope rather than conviction, loneliness rather than faith.
Lucy swallowed.
Unable to speak, she simply stared at Charlotte’s face.
“My mother and father… performed a ritual… to awaken me as a witch…”
Charlotte continued, her hands clenched tightly.
“Darkness led me… and I accepted it… so… it’s okay… I’ll be able to see them again soon…”
Drip.
A small drop fell from between Charlotte’s hair, her head bowed.
Then another.
And another.
Charlotte’s tears fell, slowly soaking Lucy’s dress.
“The point of magical resonance is still…”
Lucy slowly pulled Charlotte’s shoulders towards her.
Charlotte’s small body was embraced in Lucy’s arms.
“We need to continue sharing body heat… to make the magic flow…”
Charlotte trembled and burrowed deeper into Lucy’s embrace.
“Sniff… sob…!”
A sobbing sound.
“Hngh…!”
“…”
Lucy quietly began to pat Charlotte’s back.
The candle in the room flickered quietly.
In the light that enveloped the two, their body heat was slowly being shared.
◈
After a while, Charlotte’s breathing became faint and regular.
‘…She fell asleep.’
Lucy carefully lifted Charlotte and laid her on the bed.
Pulling the blanket up to her chest, Charlotte unconsciously gripped the end of the blanket with her hand.
Her face, once flushed red, had now calmed down, and small tear stains still remained on her delicate eyelashes.
Lucy quietly gazed at Charlotte before quietly leaving the room.
A silent hallway.
The back of a man could be seen.
It was Ramone.
He was leaning against the window.
His gaze was blankly fixed on the darkness beyond the window.
Lucy quietly approached him.
“Charlotte has fallen asleep.”
“…I see.”
His voice trembled slightly.
“Yesterday… when the princess said she was coming, she couldn’t sleep properly. She prepared this and that… and even made the ritual decorations herself… She was so happy that she would finally meet a witch…”
A moment of silence passed.
In the stillness, one of the candles on the wall made a small tick sound.
“…She will overcome it someday.”
Ramone slowly continued.
“She can’t accept reality right now… but I believe she will eventually overcome it.”
Lucy quietly nodded.
“I hope so.”
Ramone slightly turned his head.
A glittering light was caught in his eyes.
He quickly wiped his eyes with his sleeve.
“I-I don’t know if I should say this…”
Ramone said in a slightly hoarse voice.
“Even if it’s inconvenient for you… would you occasionally come visit the castle? The young lady is very lonely…”
“…”
“In her current state… she won’t be able to associate with other people… I will treat you to the best of my ability with food…”
Lucy readily nodded.
“I understand.”
“Thank you so much… even though it’s inconvenient…”
“It’s not inconvenient. Besides, I get something out of it too.”
“…Get something?”
Ramone blinked.
Lucy smiled slightly.
Charlotte’s soft lips.
The soft sensation of those squishy buttocks resting lightly on her knees.
“There’s something like that.”
At Lucy’s words, Ramone looked puzzled for a moment.
But soon, he gave a warm smile and bowed his head.
“Thank you…”
◈
Charlotte slowly opened her eyes.
“…”
The room was still dark, and the outside was quiet.
It was still the middle of the night.
‘I fell asleep…’
Charlotte sat up.
‘In the witch’s arms… crying… and then…’
She walked to the window and looked outside.
She couldn’t see anything.
‘Did the witch go back…?’
She muttered softly and lowered her gaze.
A bitter expression.
‘I didn’t even get to say goodbye… I didn’t even get to ask her name…’
Charlotte stood there blankly for a moment, then suddenly touched her lips lightly.
The moist sensation.
The soft warmth.
“Ugh…”
Her face flushed red.
It was then.
Clang. Clang.
The sound of metal clashing could be heard from the hallway.
Charlotte turned her head in surprise.
“…Ramone?”
Soon, the door burst open.
Bang.
“…Eek!”
Charlotte retreated with a small scream.
“W-Who is it…?!”
A middle-aged man walked into the flickering candlelight of the room.
Shining silver armor. A sword at his waist.
Charlotte swallowed.
“K-Kairen…?”
The leader of the Bloodbell family’s knights, Kairen.
He strode up to Charlotte.
“What’s wrong…?”
Charlotte turned her gaze towards the door.
Normally, Ramone would be standing outside the door, but now it was just quiet.
“…Young lady.”
Kairen opened his mouth.
His voice was low and deep, and resolute as if filled with determination.
At the same time, the smell of alcohol wafted from him.
“…Will you marry me?”
Charlotte’s eyes widened.
“What…?!”
At that moment,
Shling!
The sword was quickly drawn from Kairen’s waist.
Charlotte instinctively squeezed her eyes shut and cowered.
“Will you marry me?”
Kairen asked again.
His sword slightly lifted the hem of Charlotte’s skirt.
Charlotte trembled, frozen in place.
She barely raised her gaze and looked at Kairen’s face.
Kairen was smiling.
“K-Kairen… why, why are you doing this…?”
“Why am I doing this?”
Kairen’s smile grew wider.
“I am, right now, proposing to the young lady.”
