Ch.110Chapter 110 – Black Dragon Yuto (3)
by fnovelpia
This is the form of a warrior.
The dragon that had been fighting until just now, Yuto, said that and took a step forward.
-Kuung
Clearly, its size was unimpressively small compared to the dragon’s form from earlier.
Of course, it was still much larger than a human, but small nonetheless.
However, its intimidating presence remained unchanged.
“Even so, it’s just changed its appearance…”
Just as Aria said that and took a step forward,
Yuto was suddenly standing beside her.
“What?!”
Aria quickly turned her body, and he immediately extended his fist.
Thanks to the armor that had once withstood even the dragon’s charge, she didn’t take much damage.
However, looking at the ground beneath Aria’s feet, she realized this was no cause for relief.
“I was pushed back?”
She was bewildered, seeing the traces where her feet had been dragged backward.
She had previously blocked the dragon’s charge almost without moving from her spot.
But now she had clearly been pushed back even further than before.
And soon Yuto began pummeling Aria with his fists.
For a while, Aria managed to counter his punches, but gradually she couldn’t keep up with his speed and started taking hits consistently.
“Hey, stop bullying our girl!”
Beatrice flew like lightning and delivered a kick.
Yuto took it with his body without any defensive stance.
After being pushed back somewhat, Yuto jumped backward once to create distance.
Not missing the opportunity, Beatrice immediately gave chase.
“One more time!”
Immediately, her opponent blocked Beatrice’s kick with his arm.
Blue and red energy were now flowing together over the black armor.
[Light.]
“This!”
As Beatrice immediately threw a punch, Yuto caught it with one hand.
In that same position, he threw a punch toward Beatrice’s abdomen.
“Kuk!”
With a short cry, Beatrice’s body was lifted into the air.
And Aria intervened between Yuto to protect Beatrice.
Yuto immediately kicked Aria away.
Unfortunately, because she had just intervened and her posture was unstable, Aria and Beatrice collided with each other and were sent flying far away.
“Cannon! Can you aim?!”
“It’s too small!”
Clearly panicked voices could be heard from atop the wall.
Earlier, its body had been so huge that they could hit it even with rough aiming, but now it was too small.
It was obvious that shooting would just waste ammunition, and if they missed, they might hit our own people who were close to the creature.
[How dare you let your mind wander.]
And as I turned to the side, Yuto threw a punch at me with a slightly angry voice.
Almost instinctively, I twisted my body to avoid the punch.
And then the attacks started coming in succession.
‘Heavy!’
When I blocked the punch with my halberd, the impact traveled up my body.
With a numbing sensation, I almost dropped my weapon.
And seizing a momentary gap, I immediately swung.
-Teong!
“Tch.”
The halberd was blocked by the armor.
Earlier, my halberd could break through the scales, but now it didn’t even leave a scratch.
It was as if the dragon’s scales had been condensed into one.
[What is this trivial attack!]
With clear anger, Yuto attacked me.
Having seen how Beatrice and Aria were unexpectedly easily neutralized earlier, I focused all my strength on avoiding his attacks.
After dodging several times, I finally faced a punch coming at me from a position difficult to avoid, so I raised my halberd.
-Kagagak!
I thought he was swinging his fist, but he had opened his hand and was cutting through my halberd.
Looking closely, his gauntlet-like hand was wrapped in blue energy shaped like claws.
‘Damn, he’s doing all sorts of things!’
I had thought he was just throwing bare fists, but I inwardly complained about the opponent who was now wielding a weapon.
Meanwhile, my body was bent by an attack I couldn’t block, and I was spectacularly sent flying backward.
“Keuik!”
[This is absurd.]
Beyond anger, rather as if disappointed, the dragon was looking down at me in front of me.
[You can’t handle magic, you don’t use the power of dragons. You only accept the trivial techniques of the gods’ slaves.]
He stretched out his hand and lifted me up.
[Your heart, though weak, must be the same as Pia’s heart.]
I tried to resist by kicking his chest with my legs, but it was useless.
[To think you can’t even exert half of her power.]
He swung and threw me away.
My body flew and was embedded in the wall.
“Kuluk!”
Oxygen burst from my lungs.
As I was coughing, I saw him about to kick me.
If I get hit, I’ll die.
With all my strength, I twisted my body to escape from the wall, and his kick struck the wall.
-Kuuung!!
With a terrifying shattering sound, a hole was punched through part of the wall where he had kicked.
Considering the size of the dragon before, the hole was small, but it was large enough for an adult man to easily walk through.
I got up, slightly relieved that I would have truly died if I had taken that hit directly.
[You dodged well, but next…]
At that moment, someone intervened between me and Yuto.
Ludger immediately swung his sword.
-Kaang!
-Chaeng!
Ludger’s sword and Yuto’s armor began to clash with each other.
Perhaps even Ludger’s attacks were not enough to break Yuto’s armor.
Realizing his attacks weren’t working, Ludger clicked his tongue once and stepped back slightly.
And immediately Yuto pursued him.
Ludger’s sword changed into a spear, then an axe, then a bow and arrow.
Yuto’s gauntlet changed into claw shapes to counter Ludger’s sword.
And in the middle of their continued exchange, as if to catch him off guard, he spun around and aimed at Ludger’s head with his tail.
“A grappling technique!”
As Ludger immediately ducked to avoid it, Yuto jumped backward.
A purple lightning sphere had formed on his arm.
[Eat this.]
“This is nothing!”
Ludger performed the feat of deflecting the electric sphere that Yuto had thrown with his sword.
The lightning sphere landed far away from the two of them in a random spot and exploded.
[…You can deflect magic.]
“What, are you surrendering?”
Ludger said, pointing his sword at Yuto.
Looking at him, who appeared slightly tired, Yuto shook his head.
Immediately the two began to clash again.
‘A way to help…’
It was good that Ludger could exchange blows with the dragon in this state, but he couldn’t fight forever.
The issue wasn’t his skill, but his body.
Ludger’s body, already old enough to be called an elderly man, had significantly deteriorated compared to his prime.
As the fighting time lengthened, his sword was visibly slowing down slightly.
If they continued fighting, it was obvious that he would eventually lose to the dragon due to stamina issues.
Looking around immediately, considering options…
[Thinking of interfering!]
Yuto, in the midst of fighting, said that and forcibly shook off Ludger.
Just as Ludger was about to pursue, suddenly a large cloud of dust rose and blocked his vision.
Thinking I had to dodge at all costs, I quickly rolled to the side and saw him driving his leg down exactly where my body had been a moment ago.
And as if he had predicted I would dodge, he threw an electric sphere similar to the one Ludger had deflected earlier.
“‘Protect the young lamb’!”
With Christina’s voice, a golden shield appeared and blocked the electric sphere.
A terrifying sound resonated from the shield.
The shield held out until the critical moment before exploding in mid-air, and in the moment that even Yuto was pushed back slightly by the explosion, the sound of breaking glass and an explosion rang out simultaneously around him.
[That alchemist again!]
This time it seemed Sera had thrown tools from above.
Slightly retreating from the explosion, Yuto began to get irritated while wrapped in a black mist.
[Damn interferers!]
With a sudden wind, his figure reappeared and he stretched out one arm.
I saw Sera and Christina quickly throwing themselves down from the wall, as if they sensed something ominous.
[Burn to death!]
With those words.
Flames were shot.
The fire flew like a line toward the wall, destroying part of it.
[I know you’re still there!]
As Yuto began to swing his arm, the flames moved like a whip.
It was a movement targeting Sera and Christina.
“Who do you think you are!!!”
I immediately dashed forward using the red lightning.
I threw my halberd, hitting Yuto’s arm.
His arm bent upward, and the stream of fire also pointed upward.
[Now you use it, you dull fool!]
A fistfight with Yuto began.
I exchanged punches and kicks with him at almost the same speed.
‘Something’s lacking.’
Thanks to the red lightning and blessing, I might have somewhat matched his physical specs.
However, that alone was far from enough against this opponent.
‘Magic.’
The blue energy flowing through his body, magic, was something I couldn’t handle.
And that became an increasingly fatal difference as it began to affect my body.
Gradually, even just blocking his attacks made my arms numb, and even glancing blows started to cause pain.
“Kei!”
Ludger jumped in immediately.
The two of us began exchanging attacks with Yuto.
With him participating, strong enough to face Yuto in his current state, the tide turned against Yuto.
As he began to gradually be pushed back by my attacks and Ludger’s, he started to get angry.
[Damn you, cowardly!]
“If you win, that’s all that matters, cowardly or not!”
He seemed angry that we were ganging up on him with Ludger.
However, while Ludger might manage alone, I couldn’t face this guy by myself, so it was an unavoidable choice.
And suddenly a kick flew at Yuto’s face.
“You, how dare you throw me earlier!”
Beatrice, who had returned like lightning, intervened with a kick, and Yuto dodged it by stepping back slightly.
However, right behind him, Aria swung her hammer with all her might.
Unlike before, Yuto’s posture was unstable, so this time he was sent flying.
“I swung with all my might, what a shame.”
Aria growled, pointing her hammer at him.
With the two who had been taken out earlier joining in, the dragon now had to face four opponents alone.
Ludger’s sword, my halberd, Beatrice’s kicks, and Aria’s hammer continued to move, targeting the dragon.
‘If we can just keep this up…!’
I thought that if we continued fighting like this, we could win.
Suddenly, huge wings sprouted from his back.
[You vermin!!]
I instinctively shrank back at the sudden air pressure.
Looking through the gap in my helmet, wings of light were floating behind his back.
And as he leaped into the sky, I had an ominous feeling.
[First, you!]
The dragon began to dive.
Brushing aside Beatrice’s chains that tried to intercept him, avoiding Aria, and deflecting Ludger’s sword.
The dragon, who had suddenly approached me, grabbed my armor with his arm.
“Let go of this!”
I began to resist while being held by him.
But despite my resistance, he and I began to rise higher and higher into the sky.
Through the gap in my face where I was grabbed, I could see Christina’s shield appearing in our flight path.
And behind it, numerous tools were falling.
It was obvious that Christina and Sera were trying to rescue me somehow.
And the dragon, laughing, broke through the shield, avoided and blew away the tools, and tightened his grip on me.
As we began to rise higher into the sky, Yuto suddenly rotated his body once.
‘No way!’
Just as I thought it couldn’t be, I was propelled even higher into the air.
After floating in the void for a moment, my body paused.
And then I began to free fall.
‘Damn him!’
Even I couldn’t defy the law of gravity.
As I began to fall, I saw Yuto flying toward me.
Could he be trying to save me?
‘That’s ridiculous!’
I quickly raised my halberd and thrust it toward his path.
Sure enough, with the sound of metal clashing, my halberd was sent flying.
And I could see him changing direction in mid-air.
‘This damn bastard.’
He intended to toy with me in the air.
What was more pathetic was…
I had no means to resist.
He began to dive, and my right gauntlet was destroyed.
He soared up from below again, and my left greave was shattered.
Next was the shoulder plate, then the torso.
Finally, even the helmet was crushed.
[This is the end!!]
With those words, I looked up to see the dragon starting to kick toward me.
I curled up my entire body to brace for the impact.
-Pueok!!
-Eudeuk!
The sound of something breaking was heard.
“Aaaagh…!”
I screamed involuntarily from the pain.
The impact rushed through my entire body.
The pain from being hit without being able to properly resist spread throughout my body all at once.
And the dragon gracefully headed toward the ground, while I continued to fall.
‘Damn it….’
The ground was getting closer.
That fact sent a chill down my spine.
It was enough to momentarily forget the pain tormenting my entire body.
I tried to move my body somehow, but it wouldn’t obey my will.
As the ground approached and I unconsciously closed my eyes.
Someone snatched me and flew into the sky.
“Helmet! Hey! Wake up!”
When I slightly opened my eyes, I saw Beatrice’s face.
Using her chains to fly up to the wall, she immediately threw me gently toward the ground.
And then, I felt hands grabbing my body.
“Master! Oh my, blood…”
“Kei! Open your eyes!”
Sera and Christina were crying while holding me in their arms.
Fortunately, they didn’t seem to be injured.
“Take care of Helmet!”
Beatrice left only those words and headed back down.
I survived.
When I unconsciously moved my body at that realization…
“Aaaagh…!”
Pain rushed through my entire body.
The pain that I had momentarily forgotten in the relief of avoiding death by falling began to penetrate my entire body all at once.
I began to lose consciousness due to the pain.
“Painkillers…”
Sera’s voice began to fade gradually.
My eyes started to close.
“Damn it…”
Now, this wasn’t the time.
I was looking up at the void, as if resentful.
Cruelly, my body’s strength was draining away and my consciousness was beginning to fade.
I tried to get up somehow, but couldn’t.
Even Sera and Christina’s faces began to look blurry.
And just before I lost consciousness, I saw space distorting.
