Ch.107The Saint Is Dangerous (2)
by fnovelpia
“W-who is it?”
“Excuse me. I heard that Baek Eunha lives here, so I came to visit.”
“……”
The brilliant holy power was so dazzling it created the illusion that the entire door was glowing, and somehow the voice sounded familiar.
It wasn’t difficult to guess who it might be.
With certainty, I immediately locked all the locks on the door and declared to her:
“Not interested in newspapers. Same goes for religious solicitation.”
Just as I turned around to leave, the French saint Yesiel, who had been silent for a moment, continued with a puzzled tone.
“I’m sure I’ve heard that voice somewhere before…”
At that point, I couldn’t just keep pretending. Since there was a high chance we’d run into each other when Seoha returned anyway, I resigned myself with a sigh and opened the door.
“C-come in then.”
“I thought so. I’m terribly sorry for dropping by so suddenly.”
Yesiel followed quietly behind me as we headed to the living room. She sat at the table and spoke to me.
“I’ll get straight to the point. I’ll be staying in Korea for a while to observe your activities.”
“……”
It wasn’t hard to understand what that meant.
Although this incident had been resolved relatively cleanly, the weight of what I had done during the process was by no means light.
I had helped Chae Hwain kill several S-rank hunters, and even attacked a raid party inside a dungeon.
With suspicions that I had been hiding my power all this time, it seemed the world organization had dispatched her to monitor me for the time being.
As a clergy class, she was practically a natural enemy to a necromancer, making her the perfect candidate for the job.
Since I had anticipated something like this might happen, I nodded with a sour expression.
“S-so where are you staying?”
“In the same Building 4 as Eunha. There happened to be a vacancy.”
That’s literally right in front of me. Close enough to reach by walking in no time. Realizing this, I frowned and said to her:
“Change it. At least two blocks away.”
“Excuse me? Why is that?”
“Your holy power leaks out and makes me uncomfortable.”
“……”
Although I couldn’t use my power in the American dungeon because I was marked by Chae Hwain, her holy power was considerable even compared to the priests of Thebes.
If I don’t partially release my seal through necromancy, she would be a sufficient threat to me.
“W-well, quality of life is certainly important. I understand. I’ll move again right away.”
Seeing how well she listened, she didn’t seem like such a bad person.
Somehow, she seemed like the type who would do whatever she was told.
After a moment of consideration, I stopped her and spoke again.
“By the way, I don’t have anything to drink. Could you go downstairs and buy me ten cans of cola?”
“Cola? But why should I…?”
“My body’s been feeling weak lately.”
Yesiel agreed readily and actually went to buy the cola.
Seeing that, I allowed her to stay in Building 4.
It was the moment I gained an S-rank premium errand runner.

The next day, as I was sprawled on my bed fiddling with my phone, another visitor came to see me. It was Song Hayeon.
“Finally seeing you. Are you feeling better?”
“Nothing particularly uncomfortable. Just can’t use my power.”
Song Hayeon seemed to have gained quite a bit of confidence since I last saw her. It appeared she hadn’t neglected her training while away from me.
I looked at Song Hayeon with an indifferent expression and reluctantly asked:
“So, have you made any progress?”
“Yes. I’ve developed enough power to lend you a hand now. Would you like to see?”
“…I can’t make an accurate assessment right now, but go ahead and show me.”
“Sure.”
Whoosh.
Poof.
What Song Hayeon summoned was a tiny skeleton small enough to fit in the palm of her hand.
Cute, adorable, and somehow looking like something children would love.
When I looked at her with an “is that it?” expression, Song Hayeon hurriedly exclaimed:
“This is just the beginning! Look here.”
What followed was honestly completely unexpected. The small skeleton on Song Hayeon’s hand began to speak, apparently possessing its own will.
“Pleased to meet… master.”
“Did you hear that? Look at this. Isn’t this a high-level undead?”
Judging from the few more words it uttered afterward, it definitely was an entity with its own will.
But something was strange. I had never taught Song Hayeon how to create high-level undead.
“How exactly did you make this? Tell me the process.”
“So I did it like this…”
After hearing Song Hayeon’s full explanation, I finally understood the nature of this mini skeleton.
“This isn’t a high-level undead.”
“Then what is it?”
“It’s just a skeleton with a spirit infused into it.”
But in some ways, that was even more impressive.
Although it didn’t appear to be in a complete state, it would take considerable effort and time to elevate one type of undead to this level.
‘And she achieved this in less than three years?’
Honestly, this was a completely new case even for me. She really was obsessed with skeletons, and it seems it truly suited her aptitude.
Although I couldn’t sense it now, at that level, there was a high possibility that Song Hayeon’s power had created and infused a degraded version of a soul into the skeleton.
If she could control it as intended, she would be able to do quite a lot from now on.
“Can you make one in its original size?”
“Not yet. But I feel like I’m almost there.”
Song Hayeon seemed somehow dejected. Realizing the reason, I shook my head and spoke:
“You can make it.”
“What?”
“If you’ve reached this level, you can make a high-level undead.”
Of course, it would be limited to the skeleton family, but the estimate was that it would be perfectly possible.
At my words, Song Hayeon brightened up and asked various questions, and eventually we promised to make undead together sometime soon before she left.
Left alone, wrapped in my blanket, I fell into deep contemplation as I recalled Song Hayeon’s progress.
‘She’s growing fast.’
That was meant as a compliment, but it also raised questions.
No matter how I looked at it, the growth of hunters here was strange. Especially recently, the pace seemed to be accelerating.
Of course, I had a hunch about the reason.
“The nature of the planet itself is changing.”
When I first returned here, the Earth wasn’t overflowing with all kinds of energy to this extent.
However, the concentration was definitely becoming noticeably thicker.
Simply put, this Earth itself was becoming a kind of spiritual hotspot.
Naturally, growth would be faster when training and fighting in such a place, wouldn’t it?
‘Even just comparing the mana mixed in the atmosphere, it’s already much denser than Thebes.’
It was hard to easily guess what this phenomenon foretold.
However, it was possible to roughly predict what would happen soon.
“Dungeons will open. Bigger. More of them.”
Looking at the accelerating dungeon occurrences that have been making headlines recently, it was certain.
Even S-rank dungeons, which had been very rare until now, might trouble us from closer proximity.
‘If this dungeon situation is part of some grand plan, it means it’s finally entering the main phase.’
To respond to this, I needed to quickly deal with the backlog of tasks.
Eliminate the remaining forces of Hades, and somehow uncover the identity of the being in Gordon’s missing memories who was guiding the returnee Shin Doyun from behind.
In that process, I would surely obtain more clues and information to get closer to the truth.
As if responding to my thoughts, Gordon, who had been silent since my scolding, finally spoke from within the necklace.
[Master.]
“Did you remember something? Even a small clue would be good. Explain in detail from the beginning.”
[T-that’s not it. I think the effect of the spell you cast in America has worn off. What should we do?]
After Gordon’s words, delivered with constant fake coughs, I stared blankly for a moment before calmly walking out from under the blanket.
And then.
Thud.
Step.
Step.
Slide.
“Let’s just say this is the end for us.”
[Master? Master? If we try just one more time, I’m sure I’ll remember…!]
Splash.
Whoosh!
After throwing the necklace that had become Gordon’s life force vessel out the window, I returned to my blanket as if nothing had happened and resumed fiddling with my smartphone.
“Sigh.”
He really was a completely unhelpful fellow.
