    Ch.104Revenge Plays Are Dangerous (13)

    Phuwaak─!

After intense flames filled the front, the Basilisk that soon appeared was in a miserable state.

Scales all over its body were withered and twisted as if melting, and unable to withstand the power, it was spreading the smell of burning flesh everywhere.

    Shiiik─!

The Basilisk let out a roar filled with rage, but it didn’t seem intent on charging recklessly like before.

It had realized a fragment of my power after just one exchange.

After a moment of silence, one of the hunters who had been stunned by the overwhelming attack began pointing somewhere inside the nest.

“Everyone, look over there! The eggs are hatching!”

    Crack!

    Crack-crack!

True to his words, some kind of eggs hidden deep inside the nest began to split open, and creatures that looked like Basilisk offspring started jumping out.

It was the typical mass offensive commonly seen in boss rooms of large dungeons.

Unfortunately for the Basilisk, even that wasn’t going well.

Due to the dragon’s breath I had used earlier, some of the eggs had already lost their effectiveness.

Since it seemed the raid team’s hunters could easily handle those offspring, I ignored them and began approaching the Basilisk with calm steps.

The Basilisk flinched briefly, then opened its massive mouth and shot out a poisonous mist.

    Phuwaak!

    Chiiik─!

It was powerful poison that could melt the walls and floor of the nest, but I continued walking without even thinking about blocking it.

    Chiik!

    Chiiik!

    “T-this can’t be…”

While the raid team hunters were shocked at the sight, I passed through the poisonous mist without taking any damage.

The dense death energy surrounding my entire body had naturally prevented the poison from penetrating.

The Basilisk, unable to believe I had passed through its poison unharmed, contracted its long body and hastily increased the distance between us.

Seeing this, I gave it a smirk.

“Already backing off when I haven’t done much yet?”

Sorry, but I’m just starting to warm up. I sent black mist made of death energy toward the Basilisk and chanted a spell.

    “Energy drain”

    Chwaaak!

    Pasasak!

    Shiiik─!

As expected of an S-rank dungeon boss, it had tremendous vitality, and enormous magical power began flowing into my body in an instant.

I manipulated it into a ring shape and made it flow around me, then flicked my finger toward Sanada who was standing behind me.

    Then.

    Whoong.

    Shuaak!

    “What?”

One of the spare swords hanging at Sanada’s waist flew toward me, and I casually caught and drew it.

It was a perfect replication of Beatrice’s telekinesis skill that I had seen when fighting the hunters.

“How did you use my unique skill…”

But this was just the beginning. I drew power from the ring of light floating in the air and infused it into the sword.

Then I lightly kicked off the ground and rushed in front of the Basilisk in an instant.

“It’s been a while, so I’m not sure how well this will work.”

    Whoong!

    Seogeouk!

The following action was a straightforward upward slash, but it was naturally not a simple cut.

My body, heavily enhanced with magical power, drew the first perfect sword strike, and immediately after, a stream of magical power followed to deliver a second strike.

Two sword strikes executed in exactly the same place, performed so precisely they could be called simultaneous, greatly split the Basilisk’s flesh.

    Seogeoeoeok!

    Kwagagagak─!

    Kieeek─!

The technique was called Chamjeol (Severance Cut).

It was essentially the perfected form of Overlapping Cut, one of the basic skills of warrior-class hunters.

    ‘Slightly inadequate.’

Originally, I had intended to completely sever the creature’s tail, but perhaps because it had been a while, the technique didn’t execute perfectly.

However, it was more than enough to strike fear into the Basilisk.

    Shiiik─!

The Basilisk let out an urgent cry as if on alert and began continuously retreating.

It had instinctively realized that I was an opponent it could never defeat in a direct confrontation.

As I drew my sword again and tried to approach, the Basilisk explosively drew up magical power and concentrated it in its head.

Then a third eye clearly appeared on its forehead. It was obviously the creature’s trump card, an ability related to the evil eye.

    Flash!

    Passssuk.

“It’s the petrification curse! Everyone use defensive skills!”

“I’ll activate a barrier! Those without appropriate skills, hide behind me!”

The effect was impressive enough to throw the raid team hunters in the rear into confusion, but again, it had little impact on me.

At most, my body felt slightly numb and stiff. That was the extent of it.

Looking at the Basilisk, which now seemed to perceive me as something utterly incomprehensible, I gave a mocking smile.

“I can use something similar too.”

    Whoong!

    Sreureruk!

Black mist made of death energy thoroughly enveloped my hand, and soon an eye with an ominous shape appeared on my palm and began moving around.

Originally, it was a technique with much more vicious effects, but since I couldn’t utilize it at 100% anyway, it was enough to use it at a level matching my opponent.

If I had to give it a temporary name, it would be something like Corrosive Evil Eye.

    Flash!

    Pasasak!

The eye finally recognized its target and shot out intense death energy, and instantly the Basilisk’s body began to rot, crumble, and melt.

Already damaged from the dragon’s breath earlier, the Basilisk twisted its huge body in various directions, clearly in great pain.

    Kung!

    Kung!

    Kuwoong!

    Shiiiiik─!

Scales now completely ruined, and blood flowing from various parts of its body.

The eyes of the Basilisk, which had been flaunting the aura of a predator, now contained only an intense will to survive.

After continuing to writhe, the Basilisk finally couldn’t endure anymore and began to flee underground by digging a tunnel.

    “It’s hiding underground!”

“We need to stop it! Does anyone have a useful skill?”

At those words, Beatrice, who had been dealing with the Basilisk offspring, tried to use her telekinesis, but Ijichul, who was beside her, grabbed her arm and shook his head.

It meant there was no need to intervene.

Satisfied with this, I nodded and once again rotated the ring of magical power created by energy drain, condensing all of it and pouring it into the ground.

It was the Earthquake skill that Ijichul had used when fighting me.

    Kuwang!

    Kwajijijik─!

With that intense power, the entire floor of the nest cracked and began to shake, and from somewhere underground came the pain-filled scream of the Basilisk.

I accurately identified its position and once again imitated Beatrice’s skill to pull the Basilisk up from underground.

    Whoong!

    Kwagak!

    Kwadeudeudeudeuk!

    Teoeong!

    Shiaak─!

The Basilisk struggled to break free from the telekinetic restraint, but its body had already emerged above ground.

I charged at the Basilisk and used Severance Cut repeatedly to completely slice up its body.

    Seoguk!

    Seogeok!

    Kwagagagak!

    Saaak─!

Although the Basilisk twisted violently in resistance, unfortunately, such actions didn’t last long.

The Corrosive Evil Eye activated again, gradually draining its strength until it completely lost any means of counterattack.

I climbed onto the head of the battered and limp Basilisk and quietly delivered the final judgment.

“You’d be good enough to keep as a pet.”

There are too many eyes watching to turn it into an undead here. So I first used Severance Cut one last time to completely sever its neck for the finishing touch.

    Seogeok!

    Chwaak─!

Smoke rose from my skin after being covered in the creature’s poison-filled blood, but I paid no attention and took out the Book of Death to put the corpse inside.

The Basilisk’s corpse, as an S-rank large dungeon boss, was invaluable.

However, despite my monopolizing it, the raid team hunters couldn’t raise a single objection against me.

Their faces were filled with shock and surprise, and some even showed fear.

They had been completely overwhelmed by the power I had demonstrated.

When I shook off the blood and gave a smirk, the hunters’ expressions flinched in response.

Given such reactions, it’s no wonder they couldn’t voice any complaints.

I briefly looked over the hunters and quietly addressed them.

    “Watch your behavior outside.”

Finally, I pulled Michael’s head halfway out of the Book of Death that had unfolded, then pushed it back in and closed the pages.

No one present would fail to understand what those words meant.
