Ch.102Chapter 102

“…..”
I was filming a stealth action movie. My current genre was like a thriller.
I felt my heart pounding and my fingertips trembling from the tension. 4 AM. It’s still too early for the Professor to wake up, so I could play around a little.
I carefully raised myself next to the Professor and leaned over her face while lying on my stomach. It felt easier to get closer to her face this way than lying side by side.
As I brought my body closer to the Professor’s face, I gently extended my finger. My hand lightly touched the Professor’s lips.
They were soft.
The Professor was unfair. She somehow knew all my sensitive spots, but I didn’t know any of hers. It was strange. I was curious why.
It bothered me. But even while she was sleeping like this, would I be able to figure anything out?
Probably not. Even if I stayed up all night, I clearly wouldn’t learn anything. So I just watched the Professor’s sleeping face up close.
I poked her lips repeatedly, meaning to express my annoyance that she wouldn’t tell me anything.
“Take that, and that.”
No matter how much I poked her, the Professor didn’t react and kept sleeping soundly, so I found myself getting absorbed without realizing it. They say time flies when you’re focused on something, and dawn was already about to break.
Come to think of it, summer is approaching, so the sun rises earlier and sets later.
Should I try to get some more sleep? I’m not sleepy, but should I just stay still? While I was contemplating, the Professor’s eyes opened slightly. I thought it wasn’t time to get up yet, but looking at the phone on the pillow, it was already approaching 5 o’clock.
“Ah…”
I don’t know if it’s because I’m a Demon God, but my sense of time seemed a bit dull. Whether it’s because I don’t have the concept of drowsiness, or because I was just distracted by touching the Professor’s lips, an hour had passed in no time.
As I watched the Professor floating there while breaking out in a cold sweat, a dry laugh escaped me.
The Professor, either just waking up and still disoriented or simply too lazy to speak, silently reached out her hand.
Her outstretched hand seemed to pass over my shoulder, then suddenly pulled me into a hug. I, who had been lying somewhat perpendicular to the Professor, was helplessly pulled into a position pressed against her.
“Eh?”
“Ourr, why are you like this so early in the morning…?”
The Professor whispered as she hugged me. She seemed quite tired these days, speaking in a dreamy voice rather than a clear one in the morning.
Embraced in the Professor’s arms, I mumbled for a moment, then answered in a whisper just as she had done.
“I was watching you sleep.”
The Professor chuckled and hugged me tightly. Then she nuzzled my head once and nodded.
After letting me go, the Professor got up. I quietly watched as she took off her pajamas and gathered clothes to change into.
“Today I need to go to the Academy to check on the students’ research progress. And… submit a report to the higher-ups, then go shopping with you afterward.”
“Shopping?”
I tilted my head with a question mark.
I thought we were going to the research lab today, but shopping? Wondering what this was suddenly about, I tilted my head back and forth, and the Professor smiled at my expression.
“It’s getting to be summer, so you need some cool clothes.”
“Cool clothes?”
“Yes, you don’t need to wear oversized clothes anymore, right?”
“…Yeah.”
I hesitated.
I always wore large clothes because I never knew when I might grow, but now, as the Professor said, there was no reason to wear them big anymore. When I return to my original form, I’ll be wearing lab coats anyway, so size wouldn’t matter.
Something felt empty. It seemed like the dream of being able to grow freely had existed, but now it was gone, and I felt somewhat empty. Although that wasn’t all of me, knowing the original owner of this body and knowing that things would naturally return to normal when I gave it back made me feel slightly adrift.
It was like being told I could just live as myself. There were people telling me I had no reason to feel indebted, and even the body’s owner respected me by saying it didn’t matter either way, but I wasn’t sure.
Could I really live according to my desires? Could I just sparkle my eyes, do what the Professor suggests, and then ask for what I want?
Numerous thoughts crossed my mind. Eventually, a clear answer emerged.
“What kind of clothes are we buying? Summer uniforms?”
“We’ll buy summer uniforms, and wouldn’t it be nice to have everyday clothes too? It’s too hot to wear uniforms on weekends, right?”
“That’s true.”
I nodded.
“But what do summer uniforms look like?”
It might seem strange that the person who brought it up is asking what it is, but I had only thought about long uniforms and had no idea what summer uniforms looked like.
Would they be sleeveless? Or would the material just be thinner? Either way, what was important was that they shouldn’t feel too light.
I go around with the Professor. I rarely go out to the city alone to meet friends and chat. Because of that incident.
Come to think of it, that incident caused quite a stir, but what happened with it now? Is it still under investigation? I don’t know. Because the Professor had blocked me from approaching the case, I couldn’t know that either.
But it was okay. Anyway, forcing myself to find out would only hurt my feelings, so I decided to just live like this.
I blinked. Awakening my mind that had wandered elsewhere, I stared at the Professor.
“I think, thin material and sleeveless, don’t you think?”
“Oh.”
“Why? Did you think the same thing?”
“Yes.”
The Professor, who had buttoned up her shirt, chuckled and patted my head.
“You need to get dressed too, Ourr.”
“Yes.”
I, who had been sitting blankly on the bed, got down hesitantly. I diligently buttoned up my shirt next to the Professor.
I could definitely feel the cold weather becoming cool, and the cool weather becoming stuffy. Even with a Demon God’s body, I seriously wondered if I might not be able to withstand the heat as I put on my jacket.
“Do you think they’ll have the same color?”
“…If you’re talking about shirts, I don’t think they have that color.”
“Then what about summer jackets?”
“We’ll have to see if they have thin ones.”
The Professor stroked my head once. My hair, which had seemed tangled because it was long, now fell straight down to some extent.
After changing clothes, we headed to the Academy. I swiped my entry card and looked around the school. It had been a while since I’d been to the Academy. Although there was a research lab, it only had people of professor rank, and there wasn’t a single lab with Academy students, so it was difficult to go.
Moreover, I had just one friend I’d barely gotten close to at the Academy, and it seemed really difficult to meet that friend. Fortunately, we had exchanged contact information, so at least I could let them know why I couldn’t come.
“Lenya~”
I spread my arms wide on both sides. Lenya looked at me with wide eyes. Then she picked me up and hugged me as I approached.
“Ourr~”
Mimicking my tone, she gave me a little airplane ride before gently putting me down.
“What are you doing?”
“Preparing for a seminar…”
Just as Lenya said that, the Professor sternly called the students.
“Those who are ready, please come to the lecture room next door and present. Ourr, come here too.”
“Ah…”
I thought I’d have a relaxed conversation with Lenya today, but the timing seemed bad.
“Ourr, take care…”
Lenya gave me a sad smile. It wasn’t like we were saying goodbye forever—we’d see each other in the next lecture room—but looking at her like that, it felt like she was saying goodbye to someone she’d never meet again.
Putting aside my disappointment, I followed the Professor. And someone else followed behind the Professor.
“Professor, can I go first?”
“Sure, go ahead.”
A student came with a USB and asked the Professor. The Professor nodded and then sat in the middle of the front row of the empty lecture hall and began looking at documents.
The student fumbled with something at the lecture desk with the computer and then turned on the projector.
“What I’m going to research this time is the fluidity of Demon God power. Objectively, or naturally speaking, Demon Gods can be said to be the most superior beings compared to other races such as humans, elves, and dwarves. With sufficient education, they could rightfully be called the new human race. However, today’s Demon Gods don’t yet have the intelligence or patience to complete education…”
Somehow, when they spoke like that, I felt like I was being elevated. The corners of my mouth twitched.
Of course, I’m not exactly—well, I am in a Demon God’s body, so it’s okay, right? Am I strong enough now to be called part of the new human race?
Although this body is still young, if it becomes an adult body, it would be amazing.
“…Stop, you seem too proud.”
“Pardon?”
At the Professor’s sharp comment, the student stopped. They seemed to turn pale, but the Professor’s comment was directed at me, not the student.
“No, I mean I’d like you to cut down on the praise for Demon Gods because Ourr seems to be getting too proud.”
“Ah…?”
“Ourr is grinning too much, and the student keeps glancing at her.”
When the Professor mentioned it casually, I was startled and buried my face on the desk.
“…I’m sorry!”
“Ah, no…”
The student who received my apology responded with a slightly troubled voice.
