Ch.101Chapter 101. Only I Can Do the Kidnapping (5)

    “This is bad.”

Ordin gritted his teeth as he watched the approaching fog that offered no resistance.

This was the worst scenario among countless simulations he had run.

All the prepared magic would be useless, and ultimately, countless sacrifices would occur due to the death fog.

    Once again.

    Whoosh-

It was useless even when he swung his sword with all his might, channeling mana into it.

The approaching black fog seemed to defy physical laws.

Normally gas would disperse with wind, but the black fog didn’t budge even in the breeze.

When cut with a mana-infused sword, it only distorted momentarily before advancing again.

It would have been easier if he were alone.

If an attack couldn’t be defended against, he could simply avoid it.

But now he couldn’t just flee and avoid it.

If he couldn’t somehow stop that fog, he would have to watch his subordinates die in the same way again.

    “Damn it!”

Yet he couldn’t see any solution.

    In this critical moment.

He alternately looked at the fog now right in front of him and his retreating subordinates.

No matter how he looked at it, his subordinates were retreating far too slowly compared to the speed of the approaching fog.

‘What should I do at a time like this…!’

Just as strength left Ordin’s hand and his sharply drawn sword pointed downward.

    Woong-

A different, alien sound reached Ordin’s ears, unlike the deathly sound made by the black fog.

The source of the sound wasn’t from one place.

The sound captured Ordin’s ears as if coming from all directions.

    Ordin saw it clearly.

The black fog that wouldn’t disappear no matter what the mages did was vanishing as if being sucked away somewhere.

    “Huh…?”

    Woong-

The black fog disappeared with the humming sound.

Ordin reflexively looked back at Professor Amillion.

Judging that only Professor Amillion could do something like this in the current situation.

    ‘No?’

He thought Professor Amillion was using some special magic, but that wasn’t the case.

Professor Amillion, like Ordin, was blankly watching the scene of the disappearing fog with admiration.

    “What is this…?”

Only then did Ordin calmly assess the situation.

The black fog that had surrounded them was almost gone.

A tree and a man in white robes that had been hidden by the fog began to appear again.

    “Hmm.”

And an exclamation of surprise came from the man in white robes.

Though he didn’t know what was happening, Ordin felt hope.

The black fog was gone, and the enemy was visible.

Ordin instinctively felt that this was the only timing.

The only chance to approach a mage, especially one using such tricky magic.

    “Uaaah!”

Shouting a battle cry, Ordin charged toward the man in white robes with mana covering not only his sword but his entire body.

There was no time to think about how the fog disappeared or the white-robed man’s reaction.

It would surely take time to activate such a powerful and large magic again.

Ordin intended to capture that mage by targeting that timing.

Now, he felt he could catch him.

Ordin’s hand gripping the sword tensed with strength, and the white robe made a great leap backward to avoid Ordin’s sword.

    ‘What kind of mage…?!’

    This was another unexpected situation.

Who knew a mage’s jumping ability would be this good.

The man in white robes floated into the air like a feather before landing far away.

Ordin was surprised by the unexpectedly light yet powerful jumping ability, but quickly regained his composure.

If the opponent could escape quickly, he just needed to move faster and catch him.

    Tat-

Ordin leaped toward the man even faster and more powerfully than before.

A speed so fast it could be likened to an arrow flying.

It was one of Ordin’s specialties.

Just when Ordin thought he had surely reached him this time.

    Hwak-

What blocked Ordin’s view was that fog from earlier.

    ‘Oh no.’

He didn’t expect it could be cast again so quickly.

    ‘It’s too late.’

Ordin instinctively felt there was no way to avoid that fog.

Going straight through it was the best option.

    “Uryaaah!”

A huge battle cry flowed from Ordin’s mouth as he charged toward the fog.

He had already made up his mind.

    Woong-

    “Well, well.”

    “…Huh?”

    Ordin had to slow down.

The fog that had blocked his way disappeared, and someone appeared in front of it.

Someone in black clothes and robes, the opposite of the man in white robes.

Ordin thought the back view looked somehow familiar, though he could only see the back.

“No matter how urgent, isn’t charging in there a bit too much?”

An androgynous voice closer to a female’s.

    A unique, somewhat mocking tone.

And the familiar design of the black clothes.

    ‘No, it can’t be…?’

Ordin stared intently at the suddenly appeared figure, doubting his eyes.

    “You are…”

While Ordin was blankly staring at the black clothes, the man in white robes muttered.

At the low muttering, the head of the person in black clothes turned.

Thanks to that, Ordin could clearly see.

The black mask worn by the figure in black clothes.

    “Why are you here!”

Ordin was certain once he saw the mask.

The unexpectedly appeared figure in black clothes was someone Ordin knew.

And knew very well, in a bad way.

    “Black Shadow Corps member!”

The thief who stole the kingdom’s greatest treasure, the Dragon Heart, years ago.

The leader of the Black Shadow Corps.

    “…It’s been a while?”

    “You bastard!!”

Ordin’s anger surged at the leisurely greeting from the Black Shadow Corps leader.

    He was dumbfounded.

    **

I didn’t want to get involved if possible, but I had no choice.

If I left things as they were, Professor Amillion would get caught up and be in danger too.

Thanks to Greenie’s secret movement, I approached closely without being detected by anyone, which was good.

The magic cast by the mage who seemed to belong to the Nameless Organization was very tricky.

The black fog that rose from beneath the feet seemed to have no effect on the caster.

The black fog spread relentlessly toward the O’Neil Kingdom army where Commander Ordin was.

The O’Neil Kingdom put up barriers and used various magic, but they seemed useless.

I secretly mixed in and tried blowing strong winds, but it was useless.

It was clearly fog-like but didn’t fly away with the wind.

It was absurd, but I accepted it because it was magic.

The black fog felt very heavy and sticky.

It felt like it could never be counteracted with the same magic.

In fact, the O’Neil Kingdom’s mages, including Professor Amillion, couldn’t do anything about it.

    Neither could Ordin.

    ‘I have no choice.’

When Commander Ordin recklessly charged toward the dangerous-looking fog, I finally thought I had to step in.

Though he wasn’t directly related to me, I felt sorry to just let him die.

He had suffered a lot because of me before.

    “…It’s been a while?”

    “You bastard!!”

I expected Commander Ordin wouldn’t react well to me, but this was more intense than I thought.

Commander Ordin called out to me roughly as soon as he recognized who I was.

“Let’s deal with that first, shall we?”

“Y-you. How shameless! Don’t tell me you planned all this?!”

“No, I’m saying let’s catch that guy first.”

As expected, Ordin immediately jumped to an absurd misunderstanding as soon as I appeared.

This is why image is important for people.

When you have a strong image as a “bad guy,” you get these misunderstandings when you appear in situations like this.

    “What are you plotting!”

    “I’m not plotting anything…”

    Hwaaak-

Perhaps jealous of Ordin and me talking, the white-robed member of the Nameless Organization silently spewed fog toward us.

    Woong-

But there was no way such an attack could reach me.

He probably thought he was spreading the fog to reach me directly, but my surroundings were already impenetrably defended.

No physical attack could penetrate space to reach me.

“If you don’t want to cooperate, do as you please.”

I gave up trying to persuade Ordin and decided to just do my job.

At least Ordin wasn’t doing something seriously stupid like attacking me first.

    Woong-

After clearing away the scattered fog again, I moved to the white robe.

The white robe was startled when I suddenly appeared beside him and jumped up.

As I saw earlier, it was an agility uncharacteristic of a mage.

    Woong-

    “Where is the student?”

    “Ugh.”

I teleported right in front of him as he leaped into the air and quietly asked.

Though I couldn’t see his face, I could feel the white-robed man noticeably panicking.

    “I asked where they are.”

Instead of answering, the white-robed man reached out his hand toward me in mid-air.

I could clearly feel mana gathering in his hand.

    It definitely wasn’t ordinary mana.

    This feeling was black magic.

That mana contained in the black tentacles I had felt so much when facing Landgar.

    Paat-

However, the magic this guy was using wasn’t an unrefined lump of mana like what Landgar had used.

It was clearly magic that went through a structured calculation process.

Black thorns sprouted from his hand and stabbed toward me as if to pierce me.

    Woong-

Of course, the attack didn’t reach my body.

    “This is…”

Finally, a voice flowed from the mouth of the white-robed man who was still wearing his robe pulled down.

    Pung-

    “Huh?”

    And then he just disappeared.

    This is really absurd.
