    Chapter 100

The young man who entered the reception room blinked in disbelief.

“W-What on earth is going on here?”

The reception room was a mess.

An armchair was broken, and shards of a shattered vase were scattered across the floor.

    “Godwin!”

The young man spotted Godwin collapsed on the floor and rushed to his side.

Godwin’s face was swollen, as if he had been severely beaten.

    He was unconscious.

“Who could have done such a terrible thing…?”

The young man turned his gaze to Lucy.

Lucy, meeting his eyes, subtly avoided his gaze and said,

“It wasn’t me. An undead did it.”

“An undead… Anyway, we need to get people. To heal Godwin.”

    “No need. Finn, heal him.”

    “Okay.”

Finn stopped eating her snack and fluttered around Godwin.

    “H-Huh, a fairy…?”

The young man’s eyes widened as he saw Finn.

He seemed startled at first, but soon his face flushed with admiration.

    “So pretty…”

“Heh heh, you have a good eye, human.”

Finn smiled and twirled above Godwin.

Her movements were as graceful as a butterfly.

Glistening dust fell from Finn’s transparent wings, settling over Godwin.

Godwin’s swollen face gradually returned to normal.

    Godwin slowly opened his eyes.

    “Ugh…”

    “Godwin, are you alright?”

Godwin nodded weakly in response to the young man’s question.

    “Young master…”

    “Where’s Ian?”

    “T-That’s…”

Godwin hesitated for a moment but then opened his mouth as if resigned.

“He’s in the basement of an abandoned building on the outskirts of the city…”

    “That church building?”

    “Yes…”

“Why did you capture Ian? He’s my precious friend!”

“It was for your sake, young master…”

    “Ugh!”

The young man immediately stormed out of the reception room.

Lucy, taking Finn with her, quickly followed the young man.

Left alone, Godwin slowly rose to his feet.

    “In the end… can’t I stop it…?”

    His voice echoed with loneliness.

“From now on, I have no choice but to leave it to fate…”

He began to clean up the mess around him.

Sweeping up the broken vases and neatly arranging the broken armchair to one side.

    “…Huh?”

    But he couldn’t see it.

    “Where did my book go…?”

    The book 『The Last Button』.

“I clearly left it on the armchair…”

He checked under the table and sofa, but couldn’t find it.

    “N-No way…”

    Godwin’s eyes narrowed slightly.

    “That woman…?”

Lucy, who had followed the young man, summoned the skeletal steed [Death Mount].

    “Get on.”

    “Gasp!”

The young man was startled by Death Mount, but soon his face flushed with admiration.

    “What a beautiful horse…!”

As the young man climbed onto Death Mount, Lucy immediately headed for the abandoned building on the outskirts of the city.

The young man was in charge of giving directions.

    “It’s over there!”

Soon, an abandoned building came into view.

Someone was guarding the front of the abandoned building.

Two burly men who looked like mercenaries.

    Lucy sped up Death Mount.

The two men, who had been standing there with blank expressions, were startled to see Death Mount charging towards them.

    “W-What!”

    “Stop!”

The two men hurriedly drew their swords, but it was already too late.

Death Mount, charging relentlessly, violently rammed into the two men.

    Thud!

The two men flew away and collapsed.

Lucy dismounted Death Mount as if nothing had happened and entered the abandoned building with the young man.

The abandoned building was filled with dust.

The floor creaked, and the walls were crumbling in places.

But as they went down to the basement, the atmosphere changed.

It felt strangely tidy for the basement of an abandoned building.

    Beautifully sparkling lights.

    A clean floor.

There was even a faint fragrance in the air.

In front of them was a large floral curtain, and beyond it, they could hear cheerful laughter.

    “Hahaha.”

    “Hehehe.”

The young man yanked the curtain open.

    “Ian!”

    “…!”

The laughter stopped instantly, and silence fell.

The young man stood frozen, as if petrified.

Lucy walked behind the young man and peered inside the curtain.

Beyond the curtain was a room decorated as if for a lovers’ tryst.

A large, pink bed stood in the center.

On the bed, a man with his upper body exposed and two women with their dresses half-slid down were embracing each other, their arms and legs entangled.

Fruit pieces, a broken chocolate box, ribbons, and pillows were scattered haphazardly on the bed sheets.

The room was filled with a mix of fragrant floral scents and the sweet smell of alcohol, and Ian, who was about to put a grape in his mouth, froze in place.

    “Ian…”

The young man asked in a trembling voice.

“What is the meaning of this…?”

    “Y-Young master…”

“Explain it to me, what’s going on?”

    “I-I don’t know either. I was forcibly dragged here…”

“You don’t look like you were forcibly dragged here in your current state, do you? You look like you’re having a lot of fun.”

Tears streamed down the young man’s cheeks.

“I haven’t been able to sleep properly for a week because I was worried about you… and you were having a great time…”

    “…I’m sorry.”

The women glanced at each other, got up, and slipped out of the basement.

In the meantime, Finn secretly crept over, grabbed two grapes, put one in Lucy’s mouth, and started eating the other with both hands.

    “…Did you do it?”

Lucy choked on the young man’s next question.

    “Co-Cough…!”

Lucy quickly took Finn and moved beyond the curtain, but kept her ears open to eavesdrop on the conversation between the young man and Ian.

    — …Did you do it?

    — …

    — You did it…

    — I’m sorry, young master…

    — You used to say that you couldn’t live without my mushroom…? That my mushroom was the best in the world…? But now you’re playing around with women…?

The young man’s voice was filled with betrayal.

    Finn asked Lucy.

“Is that young master also a guy who sells mushrooms?”

    “I… don’t think so.”

    “Then why mushroom…?”

    “Shhh.”

Lucy put her finger to her lips and quieted Finn.

    — I thought so too… I thought I couldn’t live without young master’s mushroom… but it wasn’t true. I think I like women. I’m really sorry.

    — No… don’t be sorry… you too, eventually… sob…!

The young man burst out of the curtain and ran out.

    Ian hurriedly followed.

    “B-Billy young master!”

But even when Ian called out, the young man didn’t stop and disappeared up the basement stairs.

Ian ran a hand through his hair and sighed.

    “Ha, fuck.”

Then he saw Lucy standing to one side.

    “Lucy? Why are you here?”

    Ian seemed to recognize Lucy.

Well, they lived in the same village.

Of course, Lucy didn’t know Ian.

“I came to pick you up. Ian.”

    “Me?”

    “Yeah. The villagers are worried.”

    “Ah… but I’m ‘trapped’ here.”

Ian craned his neck and looked up the stairs.

    As if looking for someone.

    Lucy said.

“It’s okay now. Let’s go back to the village.”

    “Ah, no…”

    Ian looked hesitant.

“This is paradise. They give me food and I can roll around with those women all day…”

    “…”

    Lucy’s eyes narrowed.

“You don’t want to go back, do you?”

    Ian gave an awkward smile.

“This is heaven. They give me food, and I get to frolic with them all day…”

“Follow me when I tell you to. Aren’t you going to take care of your old mother?”

    “Ah, right, mother…”

    Ian’s face darkened.

As if he had a heavy burden on his mind.

    Lucy looked bewildered.

She was facing the true nature of Ian, who the villagers praised as diligent.

“The game is over, Ian. It’s time to wake up from your dream.”

    Lucy reached out her hand.

Then the room beyond the curtain was engulfed in black flames.

    Whoosh!

    “Ah, no…!”

Ian grabbed his head and screamed.

“My love nest…! My pink paradise…!”

Lucy forcibly dragged Ian out of the basement.

They headed back to the inn with Ian.

Because Ian’s luggage was at the inn.

    “Huh?”

The inn employee said as she saw Ian.

“Ian, you’re alive. I thought you were dead somewhere.”

    “Peralta. It’s been a while.”

Ian approached the employee with a gentle smile.

“I’ve been thinking about it for a while… your eyes are so beautiful.”

“What kind of crap is that?”

    The employee, Peralta, looked bewildered.

“A eunuch who wouldn’t fall for my seduction no matter how hard I tried before.”

“I didn’t want to pluck the flower.”

“Flower…? Are you talking about me?”

“Who else would I be talking about?”

    Ian gently grabbed Peralta’s chin.

“The starlight in the night sky pales before your eyes, and the scent of roses holds its breath before your hair.”

    “…”

“Time stops when you smile, and when you turn your head… my heart follows.”

    Peralta blinked.

    “…You’re crazy.”

Ian whispered with a serious face.

“Love… is only complete when you’re crazy. Yes, I’m crazy about you.”

    Peralta’s face gradually turned red.

“Don’t you want to… pluck the flower?”

    “Gladly.”

The two people leaned into each other.

Lucy sighed and pulled Ian’s arm.

“No time for this, Ian. Pack your things quickly.”

“Go back first, Lucy. I’m going to stay here…”

“Do you want to end up like that room from earlier?”

    “…”

Ian gave an awkward smile and stroked Peralta’s hair.

“Peralta, the villagers are worried about me, so I’ll go back for now. But I’ll definitely come back. To see you.”

    “I’ll be waiting, Ian…”

    “Thank you, Peralta.”

With lingering feelings, Ian was dragged back to the village by Lucy.

    T/N (Translator’s note):
If you somehow don’t get it…

    Here’s a likely explanation.

Noob Butler and this to-be-gutter rat, argued in the inn about the idiot master since the young master is a noble and should have future offspring.

They both disagreed with each other, since this disgusting gutter rat likes men.

Butler got angry and decided to teach him a lesson, by turning him straight.

Yeah, killing everyone is the best option!
