Ch.0Wh…Where am I?

    # Polis Story

The title is a combination of “polis,” the ancient Greek word for city, and the English word “story.”

True to its name, this game centers around creating your own city-state in a medieval fantasy setting. Its charm lies in developing city-states across various terrains and in different cultural styles.

    However…

[An epidemic has begun to spread.]

    “Sigh… again?”

To appreciate that supposed charm, one first needs to stick with the game long enough.

The developers, in their efforts to prevent the game from becoming too loose or easy, placed malicious encounters at wicked intervals, causing most players to quickly give up in frustration.

Epidemics break out just when you think you’re safe, famines occur more frequently than abundant harvests, and pirates or bandits constantly raid your city—it would be strange to grow attached to such a game.

[You have failed to maintain the minimum population required to sustain your city.]

    [Game Over]

“Damn it. What a trash game.”

Once again, I angrily quit the game after suffering countless unfair defeats.

I was half-asleep while playing, but still—how does it make sense for a city of over 100,000 to collapse after just one epidemic?

“If I ever try to build another port city next time, I’m not even human.”

Muttering to myself, I turned off the lights and lay down in bed.

    FLASH!!!

“Huh? Did I forget to turn off the monitor?”

Just as I was about to check my phone before sleeping, my monitor suddenly began to glow brightly.

As I approached to turn it off, the light grew even more intense, engulfing me in an instant, and I lost consciousness.

When I opened my eyes again, I found myself lying in a bed somewhere, and someone started shouting that I had awakened.
