    —-

These are the endings that exist in the RPG game ‘Lactea’.

There are a few more endings, but these three are the only ones officially recognized by Lactea.

Why? Because the rest are all dead endings.

As you can infer from the achievement conditions, there’s an extreme difference in difficulty between endings.

The normal ending is completed by just defeating the Demon God, but the pacifist ending requires maintaining peace without killing the Demon God, and the genocide ending requires exterminating all living beings including the Demon God.

    Genocide and Pacifist.

Because of these two endings, Lactea, which was originally just a hard-mode multi-playthrough RPG, instantly transformed into an insanely difficult hell-mode game.

Of course, this helped it gain popularity and significantly increase its user base.

Why am I suddenly talking about this?

Well, to explain that, I need to describe what just happened…

    ***

    – Guys. Lactea is getting updated tomorrow.

    – It’s probably just going to be some worthless item additions.

    – You still play this game? It’s a dead game that’s over 10 years old.

    – Still, Lactea is a masterpiece. It still gets decent YouTube views.

The community was heating up with update news that hadn’t been heard in years.

    Lee Sungwoon.

Even he, who had quit gaming more than four months ago, was considering returning, which gives you an idea of how fired up everyone was.

He wasn’t a famous YouTuber or BJ, but he was quite famous among users.

Not by the name Lee Sungwoon, but by the username Olivia.

    Username Olivia.

The first user to discover the pacifist ending and genocide ending.

And the only user to reach the genocide ending.

To users starving for content, Olivia was practically a god.

    – I love Olivia so much

    – LOLOLOLOL

    – Isn’t Olivia just a psychopath? How do you even think of killing everything?

    – Well. I did the genocide once, but pacifist five times

    – OMG the fanboy appears

    – Olivia noona. I’m dying.

    – Stop getting so immersed in the character. As if Olivia would actually be a woman?

    – Olivia hyung. I’m dying.

    – You crazy bastard.

Lee Sungwoon scrolled down quickly. He had no intention of wasting energy on the meaningless arguments between fans and haters. After some time…

    “It’s up.”

A notice appeared on the Lactea website. Lee Sungwoon clicked on it without hesitation.

    [Lactea Update Contents.]

    – New ending added.

Surprisingly, that was all. But a smile spread across Lee Sungwoon’s face. The community reacted similarly.

    – It’s heeeere!

    – Is it going to blow up? Is it going to blow up? Is it going to blow up?

    – Olivia hyungnim, please upload a walkthrough quickly. I’ll follow your lead.

    – Work, Olivia! Work, Olivia!

Lee Sungwoon launched Lactea without hesitation.

The update finished sooner than expected.

Soon after, a familiar notification window appeared.

    [Update Complete.]

    – Would you like to load your previous file?

Lee Sungwoon hesitated as he was about to select [No].

Unlike other multi-playthrough RPGs where you have to start from the beginning after seeing an ending, Lactea allowed you to transfer your growth stats from the previous playthrough.

To explain simply, if you reached an ending as a Grandmaster in the first playthrough, you would start the second playthrough as a Grandmaster from the beginning.

Of course, this method wouldn’t allow you to see the pacifist or genocide endings, so the standard approach was to not transfer stats and start completely fresh.

    ‘But this is Lactea.’

Would the developers, known for enjoying users’ suffering, really make it possible to clear in the same way?

    He didn’t think so.

Lee Sungwoon quickly made his decision.

    ‘I’ll go with this.’

Unlike before, the loading screen was moving slowly. Probably because the last character’s data was so extensive.

‘The last one was genocide, right? This is going to be brutal.’

When transferring growth stats, the affinity built with NPCs also transfers.

If you had a good relationship in the previous playthrough, they would show inexplicable goodwill and treat you like a close friend despite meeting for the first time.

But the opposite is also true.

Since the last ending he saw was genocide, all living beings in Lactea would harbor inexplicable malice toward Olivia.

‘I can’t even imagine how bad it will be. Will I get stabbed the moment we make eye contact?’

It was truly an insane difficulty level.

No matter how strong he had become by transferring his stats, it was nearly impossible to face all the powerful beings scattered across the continent at once.

    But who was he?

    “Hmm… I’ll clear it within a month.”

He was Olivia, the first and last pioneer.

    [Loading last save file.]

    – Name: Olivia

    – Class: Grandmaster of Bitter Cold and Lightning

    – Level: 100(MAX)

    – Titles: Kingslayer, Exterminator, Witch of the Final Hour.

[Are you sure you want to transfer your growth stats?]

Lee Sungwoon clicked yes without hesitation.

    [Good luck.]

Simultaneously, a dazzling light emanated from the screen and enveloped Lee Sungwoon.

    ****

“…It seems I’ve entered the game world.”

The snow-capped mountain reaching for the sky and the wyverns flying above the clouds couldn’t possibly be a dream.

    And above all else.

    “Fuck…”

When he saw the white-haired beautiful girl reflected in the ice with a look of despair, he realized.

    …Olivia was a female character.
