“In the end, is this a failure?”

“…How much money went into that guy.”

The monster rampaging on the screen.

Those watching the creature that had destroyed an entire laboratory let out sighs full of regret.

“Lab 3 will be scrapped as is. Idiots, I can’t believe they couldn’t even properly regulate the sedative dosage.”

“Is this the time to blame Lab 3? If the command protocols had been properly implanted, this would be Lab 2’s fault.”

“What good is it being the first successful synthesis if it won’t obey commands?”

    “Release the gas, lethal dose.”

As the researchers manipulated the control panel in the corner of the screen, colored smoke began to obscure the monster on display.

After inhaling the sedative gas deeply, the monster gradually shrank in size, eventually collapsing while taking on a human form.

A man covered in green and blue monster blood—on one side of his neck was a barcode like those marked on products, and above it, the characters “CXI” were written in noticeable size.

He was a test subject of this laboratory.

“He still won’t die. His durability is truly close to our target…”

“If it won’t obey, it’s useless. Let’s dispose of it simply this time as well.”

    “Combat data collection, huh… tsk.”

The researchers, hidden in shadows, signed electronic documents and issued the disposal order.

Stamped prominently on the document was the word “Failure.”

“Next in order is W City.”

The man was a failed experiment.
