Ch.0000. This Isn’t What a Band Should Be!

A vocalist who has no interest in rock.

A bassist who’s always half-hearted, claiming to need to focus on grades.

A drummer who makes excuses and borrows money at every opportunity.

A lineup that makes you wonder if these people really gathered for the sake of a band.

    Yes. I’m saying it.

I can’t keep doing this here forever.

Suhyeok, gripping the doorknob of the club practice room, gulped nervously.

As expected, the area outside the practice room was quiet today too.

The music that should have been resonating was completely absent.

    -Creeeeak

As he opened the door and stepped inside, the familiar scolding that he never got used to began.

“Lee Suhyeok! I told you to knock before entering!”

A shrill voice, like an out-of-tune instrument, struck his eardrums.

“Ah! Seriously! How many times do I have to tell you not to break my concentration when I’m doing assignments! Really!”

    “Sor-“

    No. I’m not apologizing.

Today, I’m not going to apologize!

“No way! I’m not sorry at all!”

The ones surprised by Suhyeok’s outburst, eyes tightly shut as he shouted, were actually the other two people inside.

“Whoa~ Lee Suhyeok. What’s up? Did you eat something bad today?”

“Jiseon, are you getting disrespected by Suhyeok now too?”

Jiseon, clearly not expecting this reaction from Suhyeok, put down her pen and deeply furrowed her brow.

“What’s the problem, Lee Suhyeok? Is knocking that difficult?”

    Knocking wasn’t difficult at all.

But tolerating them was an incredibly difficult task.

“This is a band club practice room—isn’t it strange to demand silence?!”

“I’m studying, Suhyeok. Hmm? Can’t you see this? This?”

    Jiseon fluttered her thick textbook.

Rising from her seat, she slowly approached Suhyeok.

“Why are you acting like this? Did something bad happen today?”

At times like this, he was truly grateful for his long bangs.

Not having to make direct eye contact gave Suhyeok a boost of courage.

    “I’m quitting.”

The conclusion he had reached after countless nights of contemplation flowed from his lips.

    “What?”

A scornful laugh suggesting the idea was absurd.

The other members found the situation purely amusing, snickering among themselves in the background.

“Suhyeok~ You like us, don’t you~ Didn’t you enjoy being in a band with us?”

Seonho’s detestable nasal voice made Suhyeok even more convinced that his decision was right.

“Park Seonho. Make sure you pay back all the money by tomorrow.”

At the mention of money, Seonho’s playful demeanor vanished, his expression turning cold.

“I said I’d pay you back. Besides, all that money went into running this band. Are you really that stingy about it?”

    “Yes. I am.”

The vocalist who had been watching the situation from behind,

    Kim Nayoung, finally spoke up.

“Why are you trying to leave in the first place?”

Suhyeok chewed on his lip and couldn’t answer for a moment.

It wasn’t because he had no reason.

Rather, the problem was that he had too many reasons.

But to summarize it in one line, yes.

    This seemed most fitting.

“Because this isn’t a real band.”

This was the last time he’d water a dying flower.
