27. What Fell from the Sky. (2)
by Shini
After the zombie wave engulfed the city, our lifestyle changed quite a bit.
First, food is abundant.
We have plenty of drinks, snacks, and ramen, and all the sauces like soy sauce, red pepper paste, sesame oil, and cooking oil. We also have pasta and noodles with a shelf life measured in years, cheese, and tteokguk rice cakes that can be stored in the freezer for a long time. We still have a fairly generous supply of everything the large mart had.
Combined with the rice stored on the third floor, we have almost a ton of it.
The various daily necessities on the second floor have also helped fortify the building.
For the next few years, at least, we won’t have to worry about running out of soap or shampoo.
However, the usual tasks we used to do, like tearing aluminum panels from outside or welding them to windows and shutters, are no longer possible.
So, the remaining people started setting up targets in the kendo dojo, which takes up half of the fourth floor, and began practicing archery. That’s pretty much the entirety of our daily routine now.
The reason it was the kendo dojo is that we had agreed to be careful even with the elevator’s “ding” sound.
We walk down to the mart from the fourth floor.
Whenever possible, we try not to make any noise.
That’s the rule.
Mr. Hoon’s place had some special measures taken because of the baby. They installed a makeshift soundproofing with cotton blankets and wood to prevent the baby’s cries from leaking out.
Still, it’s a bit sad that the baby can’t see the sunlight.
So, when the baby isn’t crying and is in a good mood, they take it to visit other apartments.
Thus, the 10th floor, where our lifestyle has changed somewhat, has become a rather unique scene.
With nothing to do outside or inside, there’s nothing to do except practice archery and learn how to handle weapons.
No TV, and leisure activities are limited to Netflix or YouTube.
So, what’s left?
The doors on the 10th floor are all open as they were before.
We live with all the doors wide open, as if privacy doesn’t matter at all. People freely enter each other’s apartments, eat snacks, and chat without any hesitation.
Strangely, we’ve become closer and more cohesive since the zombie wave began.
However, some doors are closed, indicating that the occupants are having sex and don’t want to be disturbed.
In a building where there’s nothing to do but have sex, and with men and women mixed, and the zombie wave raging below, it seems that sexual desire has increased even more than before, leading to frequent coupling.
Jun-hyuk and Tae-young have already taken in one or two of the newly arrived women as partners.
Han-tae, or rather, Ddungnae, seems to have found a girl his age and smiles as he hangs out with her, teaching her how to make bread.
The fear people felt on the first day was just that-a single day. As the days passed, we quickly adapted to this new lifestyle.
Wake up, have sex, practice archery, eat, have sex, play until dinner, and do it again.
No one here thinks this lifestyle is chaotic or strange. Even the grandma, who knows everything, just pretends not to and spends her time making cold dishes in her room.
The life we were used to, the life we lived before the apocalypse, is slowly but surely crumbling inside us.
“Guh…!”
I gripped Jeong-seo’s hips and thrust my hips forcefully.
I filled her to the brim, and in the wave of pleasure, I heard her moan.
We clung to each other, trying to catch our breath.
“Bro, do you want to make pizza bread? We still have a lot of sweet corn, and it would be delicious with sliced cheddar and mozzarella.”
Jeong-seo and I turned our heads simultaneously.
It was Ye-eun, who had been reading a comic drawn by So-eun.
Jeong-seo smiled and said,
“That sounds good.”
I was still out of breath, so I nodded and smiled in response.
I gave Jeong-seo’s nipple one last suck before getting up.
“Ahn…”
A pleased sound.
I felt pleased too.
Damn, I have no energy left.
Already three times this morning.
“Where’s So-hyeon?”
“She wants to learn how to draw comics. She’s in So-eun’s room right now.”
“Ah, I see.”
I nodded at Ye-eun and went into the bathroom.
I had sweated a lot.
Comics, huh?
Good idea.
There are only a few sites left where you can read webtoons or web novels.
I don’t read webtoons or web novels, so I don’t know how they operate, but according to So-eun and Ye-eun, who enjoy them, new episodes are no longer being uploaded.
Almost all of them.
Moreover, apps and sites are gradually closing down, leaving only one or two places, if that.
Even those places don’t have new episodes, so the only option is to reread what has already been read.
Maybe the authors have all died or something.
I turned on the shower and washed off the sweat while thinking about it.
…As the internet becomes less functional, it will get incredibly boring.
I should have raided a comic shop and brought a bunch of comic books.
There are many good old comics.
Naruto and One Piece, for example. What else? Hunter x Hunter was also great, and did Fairy Tail end?
Damn.
It’s a shame.
Having three partners isn’t bad at all.
But the problem is, if I hug one, I have to hug the other two as well.
I’m glad I have the stamina skill. Without it, I don’t know what I would have done.
I’ve felt the importance of increasing my stamina acutely over the past few days.
Survival expert, the best.
And it doesn’t end there.
A few days ago, a woman who was scared when she saw me covered in blood has been lingering around me.
“Oh, hello…”
I ran into her as I was heading out with my bow.
I don’t know how many times this has happened.
It’s deliberate, this is.
While not showing my certainty, I smiled.
“Hello. How are you feeling?”
“Yes… much… much better. Thank you.”
She bowed and left.
…Hmm.
Most of the women who escaped from the cockroaches and came to us aren’t particularly interested in men.
Only a few, maybe two or three, became partners with Jun-hyuk and Tae-young. The others are still healing their physical and emotional wounds.
Our side, centered around So-hyeun, often spends time with these women, making delicious food together to help them recover emotionally.
But for a while, they probably won’t think about men at all.
But this woman seems different from the others.
Or maybe the impact of our first encounter was significant.
Seeing a man covered in blood from head to toe, dripping from his weapon, clothes, hair, and chin, with a fierce look in his eyes after just committing a massacre, must have left a strong impression.
That’s why, maybe.
Who knows?
Women’s hearts are complicated.
I slung my bow and arrows over my back and went up to the rooftop.
This is my daily routine.
Wake up, hug my women-So-hyeun, Ye-eun, and Jeong-seo-then come up and shoot arrows.
About 80 to 90 arrows a day.
With the arrows replicated over 24 hours and a few original ones, I hunt about 80 to 90 creatures daily until nightfall.
That’s my limit.
“Status.”

Day 4 of holding out.
Already level 48.
I estimate that by tonight’s hunting, I’ll be level 52.
The leveling speed…
About 4 to 5 levels a day, which isn’t bad, but it’s still frustrating.
I should be able to sweep up 400 or 500 at a time!
With my health at 100 and my senses growing, it should be possible!
But it’s too much.
Can I sweep them all at once?
…Molotov cocktails?
Hmm…
It might not be a bad idea.
But how with what’s available in the mart?
Even if there’s a hardware store, there’s no gunpowder, gasoline, or kerosene.
The only oils available are cooking oils like olive oil.
So, what can I use?
Damn, I’d have to know how to make one to figure it out.
But will I get experience points if I kill them with a Molotov cocktail?
So far, I’ve killed them all myself.
Whether shooting arrows or using a sword, the targets I aimed to kill were killed by me.
A Molotov cocktail is different.
If I throw it at a target, it will also burn the surrounding creatures.
That’s not me killing them directly.
It’s collateral damage.
Maybe I won’t get experience points that way.
But it’s worth a try.
While thinking about this, I drew the bowstring with an arrow nocked.
Whoosh-
Thud.
I stepped on a chair and shot downward.
The arrow flew and pierced the head in an instant.
No feeling, no excitement.
I just pulled out the arrow.
Whoosh-
Thud.
The arrow whistled and plunged, piercing the skull.
I pulled out the arrow again.
Then, a distant rumbling sound came from the sky.
Looking up, I saw a small plane.
…I’ve been seeing these a lot lately.
They still fly around, dropping something.
I have no idea what they’re up to.
I shook my head and drew the bowstring again.
Whoosh-
