    154. Summer Festival (2

Me, Kim Wonbu, on the cusp of graduating college, am what people commonly call a hardcore geek.

I managed to hide it well during my college years, but fundamentally, I’d been consuming all sorts of things since middle school, and was a total hardcore geek who hung out with nerds.

Games, anime, idols, basically anything else girls don’t really go for.

Of course, since coming to college I learned how to cosplay as a normal person, so I even managed to date a girlfriend before enlisting in the military and lived a ‘normal’ life.

…I mean, if that ex-girlfriend bitch hadn’t cheated, I would’ve quit my geeky ways.

It’s a case of experiencing the bitterness of reality and becoming more obsessed with the virtual.

But then again, I couldn’t completely abandon the virtual, because I’d already tasted reality.

So, rather than compromising my tastes, they got bizarrely mixed up, and I became fixated on ‘someone who’s a hardcore geek, shares my tastes, is sexually open enough to willingly do sexy cosplay, but would never cheat’.

My recent newfound fandom for Seo Jia was for a similar reason.

Wait, that idol who seemed so aloof was actually a fellow gamer who hid their hobby, just like me?

I immediately followed her on Insta, and binged on everything about her, and realized she was quite close to the ‘ideal’ I’d envisioned.

Of course, a top idol like Seo Jia wouldn’t date me, but that doesn’t stop me from getting horny, right?

What’s more, last week, by sheer coincidence, I even had the honor of encountering her at a cafe.

The autograph I got on a sticky note back then is now nicely laminated and reverently displayed as a figure’s base.

    “Ha, fuck…”

Standing still in the midsummer heat, sweating profusely, curses just slipped out.

I wondered what I was doing here at a game event I wasn’t even that fond of, but I managed to endure by scanning the noticeable people around.

Ah, of course, I wasn’t feeling good just by looking at the revealing outfits. Because I already knew what kind of disasters usually happened when the ‘editing’ was removed from cosplay.

Even wearing those damn wigs, if someone could still elicit a ‘wow’ in real life, it meant they were probably twice as pretty when properly dressed up.

Or maybe their body was so insane that you couldn’t even notice the wig.

For example, just like that one guitar YouTuber.

It was a channel where she played guitar while shaking her breasts in cosplay, and there was a certain ‘heaviness’ that couldn’t be explained by editing.

At first, I thought it might be fake, but video fakery has its limits, and after watching dozens of videos, her breast and side curves were consistently insane.

Even Seo Jia, famous for her chest size, wasn’t quite on that level.

Ah, come to think of it, Seo Jia’s older sister, whom I happened to see with her back then, was about that level.

Well, she has a boyfriend with a fucking huge build, so it’s none of my business.

Of course, since she doesn’t show her face, I don’t think she’s as pretty as Seo Jia’s sister, but since I’m not dating her anyway, there’s no problem just appreciating her.

Lost in fantasies of how happy I’d be with a girlfriend like that, I shuffled along the line, sweating, and finally entered the event area.

Pretending to be a wholesome geek, I was wandering around, intending to ask the pretty cosplayers for photos, when suddenly…

I ran into a face that looked incredibly familiar.

    “…Uh, excuse me.”

    “….”

A woman with a very healthy figure, showing her belly button, saw my face, startled, and quickly fled.

…Where did I see her before?

    Was it on Twitter? College?

    No, maybe both?

    Her name was definitely Hwang…

    “Oh, hello.”

    “…?”

Just as I was about to recall the name of the woman fleeing from me, two massive figures approached me, and I instantly forgot her name.

My focus blurred for a moment due to the cleavage suddenly thrust before my eyes, so I adjusted my glasses. Taking a step back to get a better look, I saw the man and woman whose faces I’d only seen a few days ago staring at me with strange expressions.

“Ah…, um. Jia…, no. Seo Jia-ssi’s older sister and her boyfriend?”

    “Yes. What a coincidence.”

Unlike me, who was dressed somewhat neatly, the man was dressed very casually.

But perhaps because of his ridiculously huge build, even in a plain t-shirt, the intimidating aura was fucking immense.

And next to him was a woman who was a walking mass of absurd muscle, so voluptuous I could barely remember anything else.

Her beige hair, which looked anything but a wig, was tied just like the game character’s, and she wore a kimono-like outfit, half-undressed.

More than anything, the bandage-like strips of cloth looked like they were about to burst, making it impossible to look away.

…Even trying to ignore it, the tattoo embedded on her chest below her collarbone drew my eyes back.

“Are you guys here for fun too?”

    “Yes, yes.”

But if I stared openly at her cleavage, I felt like the muscular man talking to me might punch me, so my survival instinct overcame my lust, and I lowered my gaze.

This time, the bandages tied around her thighs caught my eye, making me recall the game’s character model for no good reason.

I remembered myself hanging female characters upside down off cliffs in the game and twisting the camera around wildly, so I grit my teeth, raised my gaze, and met the eyes of the man with the heavily furrowed brow.

“Ye-eun…, ah. Since you like Jia, I thought you liked idols. But it seems you like games too.”

    “Ah, yes. I like both.”

“Jia likes this game too. Do you know it?”

    “Yes, I know it.”

Beside him, the woman kept flicking the bow in her hand, barely resisting her seductive attempts to steal my gaze, I continued the conversation with the man, whose friendly tone contrasted with his stern impression.

Since we weren’t close or particularly familiar, we kept the conversation suitably superficial.

After finally wrapping up the conversation, I tried to escape from him as quickly as possible, but was stopped by the voice of the woman next to him.

“Don’t you want a picture? I need to take one for you.”

    “Ah…, yes.”

I wanted to make an excuse about being busy and run away, but those bandages kept drawing my attention, my body moved on its own, and I ended up standing next to her and taking a picture.

If I got too close, I figured the photographer’s already stern expression would get even worse, so I kept my distance.

    Striking a stiff pose, I gave a thumbs-up.

After the ‘click’, I got my phone back, and only after they walked away could I wipe my sweat and check the photo.

    …Wow, fuck.

This is insane, is this even possible?

Maybe I should have just looked longer, regardless of getting punched.

There were plenty of people around anyway, they wouldn’t have killed me.

I don’t think even that guitar-playing YouTuber was on this level.

Unable to hold back, I uploaded the surreal photo to Twitter,

Seeing the likes and retweets, several times more than usual, I felt a strange sense of satisfaction.

    On top of that,

…I felt the greatest envy towards the man who took this photo in my life.

    However, I didn’t feel inferior.

Honestly, compared to a skinny weakling like me having sex with a woman like that…

it felt more natural for a guy like him to pound her from behind, according to the principles of this world.

    **

    “Ha, shit… It’s hot. Fucking hot…”

    “Drink some water.”

Unlike when I first arrived, it was noticeably darker outside.

But still, in the humid summer air, I fanned Haeun, who was crouching in a quiet spot, panting.

…If I’d ordered the sky-blue haired character I originally planned, it would have been a real disaster.

She’d be wearing tights, so it would have been several times hotter than this.

    “Thank you…”

Gulping down the water I’d placed beside her, Haeun wiped her sweat with an already damp handkerchief and slumped over.

She hadn’t exactly been running around, but the weather itself was hot, and she’d been outside the whole time.

I had to drop her off at the event venue first, then rush to the gym to finish my work, so I couldn’t help her much.

If Soo-ah had been here, it would have been fine, but something must have happened, because she ditched after finding a replacement for the whole weekend.

So while listening to the complaints of an exhausted Haeun, I kept checking messages from someone on Telegram.

    -Where could you be

Wearing a wig and a mask, she was clearly having a great time, the anonymous Ms. H.

I only gave her Saturday tickets, but she’s been having fun since Friday.

I wondered what she’d do if she got caught, but honestly, I couldn’t guess who it was just from the selfies.

Well, I’ve seen her so often, I can tell it’s her just by her lips.

-If you can’t find me, I’ll take off the mask

To her, making such a non-threatening threat, I took a picture of the slumped-over Haeun and sent it, and as soon as I got the reply ‘She’s f*ing cute’, I showed the phone to Haeun.

    “Hinami says you’re fucking cute.”

    “…You wanna die, really?”

    “What, aren’t you cute?”

    She was actually cute.

She was diligently taking pictures with people, but as soon as she saw me, her eyes widened and she broke into a huge smile.

“…Hearing that doesn’t make me happy at all. This tattoo…, ah. Shit. When will it come off?”

“It’s a sticker, so it should wash off easily with sweat.”

“Everyone keeps staring like crazy, seriously…”

But she pointed to the flame-shaped tattoo prominently displayed on her chest and started arguing that she wasn’t cute.

It wasn’t exactly cute there, so I didn’t have much to argue.

“Anyway, let’s get going. We’ll change clothes in the car.”

    “Okay…”

Carrying the half-dead her, I trudged towards the car,

…when I encountered another cosplayer grumbling right next to my car.

“Ha, fuck. Fucking geeks…. And why is that sunbae bastard wandering around?”

…Apparently, there was a family emergency, so they found a replacement,

but it caused the boss unnecessary trouble.

    That low-quality part-timer.
