    05. New Force

    05. New Force.

Sonya-ssi and I went out for a late dinner.

I guess we’ll head straight to Gangnam after eating, but I’m starving because I used up so much energy.

Why did I use up so much energy? You know why, why ask?

“But now that it’s like this, I feel like I wasted money booking the room. It was a whopping 100 dollars.”

“The time we could’ve used it for a quickie is already over, you know.”

That’s true… but I guess my cheapskate nature is still there, so I feel like I threw away a lot of money.

Hmm… maybe looking at my assets will make me feel better.

“What do you want to eat?”

Sonya-ssi asked, crossing her arms slightly.

The time was past 8 PM, and it was getting dark. The moonlight shone on her face, making her exude a slightly different charm than usual.

Plus, judging by the slight redness, she was still excited.

“Hmm… how about gukbap? A nice, cool pork gukbap.”

    “Sounds good.”

    “Oh!”

I thought she’d refuse since she seems to have such expensive tastes, but she agreed easily.

“You know what pork gukbap is, right?”

“…Are you looking down on me?”

“Hey, no way. How could I look down on Sonya-ssi? You just seem too sophisticated to be associated with gukbap.”

    “…I hear that a lot.”

I see. So, there are a lot of people besides me who say that. Well, it can’t be helped. The image she projects is completely that of a cold, city woman + career woman. And her actual personality is like that too. Except for when she’s moaning during sex….

“But I ate that a lot when I was preparing for the bar exam, you know?”

    “Oh. Really?”

“It’s not like I was born rich and a lawyer from the start.”

    “I see. Sorry.”

“…There’s nothing to be sorry about.”

Her expression is naturally cold, so it feels like I’m being scolded. Well, that’s probably not her intention.

“But somehow, when I think of someone studying for the bar exam, I imagine a really shabby appearance… I can’t imagine Sonya-ssi like that.”

“Hehe. I hear that a lot. I used to just tie my hair up and wear tracksuits back then, but no one believes me.”

    “Heh….”

    I don’t believe it either.

I’m sure she did, but I just can’t believe it.

“But do you know a place?”

“Hmm… shouldn’t we just go anywhere?”

Honestly, they all taste the same to me… is it because I have cheap taste?

“Then let’s go to a place nearby.”

Sonya-ssi took the lead and walked ahead.

Her back view is very dignified. It feels like a real adult.

    +++

“Welcome, Master-nim. And this person is…?”

It was almost 1 AM when I arrived at the guild headquarters. In the meantime, I went to a cafe and karaoke with Sonya-ssi, doing things that were kind of like a date, and it was a fun time.

Wait, now that I think about it, isn’t this my first date ever? Sonya-ssi is my first… ahem….

For reference, the newly created guild’s name is Harem Palace. Ah, Sonya-ssi is watching, so I’m suddenly embarrassed.

Anyway, a lot of things happened in the week that 15 guilds collapsed, but I just crushed them with force.

I’ll probably remodel it later? Or rebuild it, whatever, but for now, I’m using the building that the Stone Age Guild used to use. Seo-hyun is the one who actually does the work, though.

    “This is Sonya-ssi, Yuna-ssi’s mother.”

    “Huh? Mother?”

A look of disbelief is plastered on Sonya-ssi.

Well, I guess it’s hard to believe. She’s at least in her late 40s, but she only looks like she’s in her early 20s.

I patted her shoulder as if to encourage her.

“Even if it’s hard to believe, there are times when we have to believe.”

    “…Don’t do that, Master-nim, it’s cheesy.”

    “….”

    Did this punk’s loyalty drop?

“Anyway. Is that police chief or whatever here?”

“Yes. He’s been waiting for 20 minutes.”

    “I see.”

“Sora-ssi and Yuna-ssi are dealing with him.”

“Hmm? My sisters didn’t really need to be there.”

“Someone had to deal with him.”

“I see. I feel bad for no reason.”

    I quickened my pace slightly.

After passing through the familiar lobby, climbing the stairs, and so on, I arrived at the door where the police chief was.

    -Be quiet, please.

-What, what did you say, you little bitch!!

-Ugh. This is why I hate Korean men. And he’s middle-aged on top of that… ugh, so gross.

    -You little bitch!

    -C, Chief, calm down!!

Hmm. It’s a complete mess, just as expected.

I burst open the door and went inside.

Sonya-ssi and Seo-hyun followed behind me.

“What are you talking about that’s making it so fierce?”

    “…M, Mom?”

    “Hello.”

    “Yo- you’re finally here, boy.”

“I’m not a boy. Please call me a young man.”

    “If you’re twenty, you’re a boy.”

I sat down next to Yuna-ssi while exchanging these kinds of words, and Sonya-ssi sat next to me.

Seo-hyun went behind the sofa and stood at attention.

“Hmm… ahem… is the young man the guild leader?”

    “Yeah.”

    “…You’re being informal.”

    “So are you.”

    “….”

The middle-aged man’s expression immediately turns red.

“Hey. He’s still an elder, so isn’t it a bit much to speak informally?”

The policewoman next to him frowns and says. Hmm. She’s kind of cute…?

“Noona. Don’t you know the saying ‘kind words beget kind words’?”

    “That’sㅡ.”

“I’m not gentlemanly enough to use polite language to someone who speaks informally to me from the start, so keep that in mind. If you don’t like it, then don’t talk.”

    “….”

“What era is this that you’re still acting like that? And you’re supposed to be a cop.”

    Put. Yuna-ssi giggles slightly.

The chief’s expression turned even redder at that sight, but he desperately held it in.

    “Y, you’re the guild leader, I see.”

    “Yes.”

“Wow. What the hell. You fought with me using informal language, but you immediately go submissive with a Korean man. Is it because I’m a woman and you’re looking downㅡ.”

    “Yeah. Let’s be quiet, Yuna.”

Sora-noona stops Yuna-ssi’s mouth as she speaks out of frustration.

But still, he must really need something. To be acting like this even though I’m being so rude.

“First of all, I offer my sincere congratulations on your success. You have great abilities.”

    “It’s not a difficult task.”

He offered various words of congratulations. I could see that he was incredibly angry from his expression, but he was trying to speak as softly as possible.

After several topics were changed, he finally brought up the main point.

“The reason I came to find you like this is because I have a favor to ask.”

“A favor? It’s scary to hear someone who’s reached the rank of superintendent asking for a favor.”

I had heard from Sonya-ssi about how high-ranking a police chief is, so I couldn’t help but answer nonchalantly.

No, seriously, the police chief is the final boss in the local community, so if it’s not a big deal, he’d use the countless police officers under him to handle it, not come to ask for a favor like this, right?

“It may be difficult, or it may not be.”

What’s with that vague way of speaking?

“As that young lady said, the current police force is feeling the limits of maintaining public order. Right now, the adventurers aren’t running wild and are following the control of each guild, but there’s no telling how long that will last.”

Wow. Yuna-ssi said that to the police chief. Yuna-ssi is amazing….

“So, an agenda to turn police officers into adventurers is emerging as a countermeasure within the organization, and our Gangnam Police Station has been selected as the pilot organization.”

“Hmm~ why Gangnam of all places? This is the best dungeon in Korea. If you go in without thinking, you’ll just die. Wouldn’t it be better to start from Hannam-dong?”

“That area is tightly controlled by the Dungeon Association and companies, so lobbying is severe. And the relevant organizations aren’t experiencing great difficulties in maintaining public order, so they don’t really feel the need for it.”

“Ah. So, you feel it well, Chief.”

“Don’t you know it well since you did it yourself? You invaded a guild building in broad daylight… this place, right? And made a complete mess of it. And now you’ve completely wiped out the guilds and even declared Gangnam as your territory. I wonder how many people died in the process…? But our police can’t even touch you. All we can do is call you in for questioning.”

“Well. It was self-defense. But it might look like that to you.”

“The organization also knows that the Gangnam Police Station needs this agenda the most. That’s why it was selected as the pilot organization.”

“So, what do you want me to do? Should I give you a carry? But you know that’s a big risk for us, right? And there’s no reason for us to do it.”

The reason why guilds are allowed to dominate Dungeon Cities is because of the police’s incompetence. It’s not that I’m looking down on them, but they’re helplessly powerless in the face of monsters and adventurers. Therefore, Dungeon Cities are usually controlled by the guilds that are dominating or dividing them, and they control the adventurers.

In this situation, if the police gain the power of adventurers, it’s obvious that the power of the guilds will be reduced.
