Chapter Index

A week has passed since the second semester started.

Fortunately, nothing much happened. I don’t know where the masked woman disappeared to, but my abilities returned to normal, and thanks to that, I didn’t have any major problems taking classes. As usual, I went back in time to study, understand, and… The class content included a lot of common sense that is necessary for living in this world, so it wasn’t bad to understand it and move on.

“That’s why even a goddess can’t turn back time. This world is completely physical. Even though magic and such exist, the results they produce cannot escape the laws of physics.”

This was the explanation given by Ada, a physics and mechanical engineering teacher.

I listened to the story with a cold heart. Well, I would have thought the same thing. Even if the physics of this world were not as advanced as in the 21st century I lived in, and even if it was a world without common sense where people would say things like changing time would just divide into parallel worlds or something like that, it was natural for people to think that way.

Whether in this world or the other world, there has never been anyone who has been able to turn back time. Not a single person. Just as science became widespread and geocentrism became the geocentric theory, if I couldn’t scientifically prove my ability, there would be no way to explain it to others.

So I didn’t really think about adding more to that.

But there was one person who wasn’t like that.

    “That, teacher?”

    Johannes.

He wasn’t an important character in the original. It was the same in my eyes in this world. He wasn’t even related to me in the first place. He was a character I remembered because we were in the same class and I had memorized the names of the original named NPCs.

But I still remember the basic setting. She was a devout Catholic.

“I don’t think it makes sense that there are things a divine being cannot do.”

    “So?”

But Ada didn’t seem particularly interested in being asked that question.

I think she said she’s been working here for 10 years. She started working in her early 20s, got married, and continued to work as a teacher even after becoming ‘Baroness Strange’, so she must have been asked that question a lot.

“Yes, that’s right. For example, in the scriptures of the Goddess of Mercy—”

“Is there an example of being able to turn back time? Like turning back a clock?”

Ada said in a sarcastic tone, silenced the student, and shrugged her shoulders.

“Let me ask you a question. Do you think that turning a clock also turns back time?”

    “Uh… …No, that’s not it… …”

“I think so too. Even if the world is like a clockwork that flows in a set direction, and even if a goddess were to rewind it, time itself would still flow in the end. The clock hands would just move backwards. From the perspective of the goddess who turned back the clock, time would still be flowing in one direction. She would have turned back the situation, but that doesn’t mean she went back along the time axis. ”

    “Uh… ….”

Johannes rolled his eyes and said.

“But then, isn’t that no different from turning back time?”

“By our standards, yes. But by the goddess’ standards, no? The positions of the stars, the positions of the sand that flowed, and the positions of the flowing water would return to their original positions. But absolute time itself cannot help but continue to flow. The goddess who turned back the clock would feel the passage of time from outside the clock. ”

    Johannes tilted his head.

Honestly, I kind of agree with Johannes.

I’m slowly starting to talk to Mia Crowfield.

We weren’t really good at talking to each other, but it felt a bit awkward to leave it like that.

And I liked almost all the heroines of the original. Of course, that includes Mia Crowfield. Mia Crowfield’s parents were the kind of people you could never like, but Mia herself was a character who never forgot what her family did and tried to overcome it.

I liked Claire, Alice, Charlotte and Loti. Including the one commoner heroine I haven’t met yet.

There was only one heroine that I… didn’t like that much.

“My name is Sophia Bianchi. I will be studying with you starting this month. Please take care of me.”

A girl with purple hair, purple eyes, and kind eyes bowed to the children in the class and said this.

A graceful air emanates from her body. A grace that is different from Alice or Charlotte’s, one that is humble rather than confident.

To put it simply, it would be better to say that it is closer to a priest than to royalty or a royal family.

Yes. The girl greeting me right now is none other than the heroine of the law.

If things go as planned, it should appear starting next year.

I had to work hard to hide my astonishment. If Alice had seen my expression now, she would have reacted in one of two ways: either with a deadly serious expression, or with a look of laughter on the verge of bursting out. Or both.

“Sophia is from the Kingdom of Belbourg. This time, she received the Empire’s approval to come here and study with you all.”

My homeroom teacher, Caroline, who was next to Sophia Bianchi, introduced me like that.

    That’s a lie.

Sophia Bianchi is from the Fascist Republic. However, the only ‘citizens’ of the Fascist Republic are officially clergy.

Of course, most of them are orphans brought from other countries.

Among those orphans, most of those with outstanding abilities or deep faith become priests, and even those without live as nominal monks. In reality, they are no different from ordinary citizens who pray.

Sophia Bianchi was a person who could have become a priest because she showed outstanding ability from childhood—

He himself was a being who ‘enjoyed’ the position of a priest.

A person who enjoys cutting people so much that he continues to settle down there.

    therefore……

Sophia’s purple eyes turned towards me. Her eyes, which met my gaze, curved into a crescent shape. Kind eyes that made others let their guard down.

… … So, that character is like that.

A character aimed at the second-year middle schoolers. He laughs out loud after getting covered in blood during the last battle.

It reminds me of a dark history I had while playing with my friends in middle school.

    … … I really hate that guy.

    *

Even if the second-year middle school syndrome really existed, it wouldn’t be considered second-year middle school syndrome, but honestly, from my perspective of seeing it as a game, it wasn’t a story that resonated with me. After all, it’s not a character that exists in reality.

Besides, this character was incredibly strong when he first appeared, and was a character that was pushed forward in the story.

There was an event where the characters that appeared in the first part all lost to this character once. On top of that, the wins weren’t even won by fighting very hard, but rather in a ‘Huh? Did I not control my strength?’ kind of way, so it was even more frustrating.

They say that this isn’t a series where the abilities from Part 1 and Part 2 carry over, but isn’t that a bit like that?

Later on, he regretted it to some extent and joined the party, but the bad impression I had from the beginning still remained, so I didn’t like him. Strictly speaking, he was a character that I hated more.

    however…….

    “Sylvia.”

This way, he kept talking to me as if we were close, which made me feel incredibly uncomfortable.

If they had started out as enemies like in the game, they could have openly shown their dislike—

    “Let’s eat together.”

“Do you have anything to do after class?”

“Oh, are you going to a cafe? Can I go with you?”

He came out so brazenly that I couldn’t do anything about it. At first, Namami Crowfield seemed to be openly uncomfortable with me and seemed to dislike me, so I could have been rude, but he wasn’t like that.

    “Sophia.”

The good news is that I’m not the only one who feels uncomfortable.

Alice said to Sophia, who was now sitting in the cafe with us.

    “That… …was that Belbur man?”

    “Yes, I am from Lutetia.”

    “Really?”

After hearing that story, Charlotte looked at Sophia Bianchi quietly.

    “But I haven’t seen you.”

A student from another country transferred in despite receiving approval from the Empire. And to a noble class at that. If that’s the case, he must be someone with a name of his own, so Charlotte should have seen him as a character, but…

“Because I’m a bit awkward in social circles. And since my family only has one knight title, I never had the chance to meet the princess in person.”

If you say it like that, Charlotte will have no doubts.

    “… … Really?”

Charlotte tilted her head, but stepped back for the time being.

    “Bianchi Youngae.”

    “Please call me Sophia.”

That was the reply I got back in response to my question.

“… … Bianchi Youngae, have we met before?”

I ignored that and asked straight away.

Sophia Bianchi’s eyes widened like crescent moons again after hearing what I said.

    “No, not at all.”

… … It was a truly dignified answer.
